Chapter 11
Firepaw's eyes widened with astonishment. We bring back a clan? How do we do that? I mean, we can't just go find a place and talk to random cats and ask them to join, right? All three of them just stood there, staring, open-mouthed at the Eternalclan cats.
"Wait. Let me get this straight, You were the first and only leader of this clan?" Firepaw questioned. "Yes. Everyone has forgotten about the expedition..." Eternalstar began.
"Then,It came..." She said, eyes widening in fear. A horrible yowl roared, shaking the ground. Shrewclaw stood up, and stood over his quaking leader. He didn't even look back at the three when he said one word that scared Firepaw to the core: "Run." She stood there, and saw a tiny shape, padding towards them. Shrewclaw bristled and Eternalstar started shaking more. Firepaw tried to leap and kill the shape, that was scaring these ancient cats so, but Crowpaw grabbed her scruff and pulled her back then started running with Volepaw, Firepaw close behind. While running Firepaw looked behind her and saw Shrewclaw throw Eternalstar onto a tall rock as he got swallowed by a thick black, mist. Eternalstar leapt off and followed Crowpaw, Volepaw and Firepaw, but was slowed by an injured leg. Crowpaw saw and veered, letting Firepaw ahead. He grabbed the grey she-cat and ran with her on his shoulders. He ran as fast as he could, but her weight was slowing him drastically.
Firepaw leapt to him and supported part of the ghost cat's weight. "Run.. Leave me behind... I must join my mate, Shrewclaw..." She rolled off and let the close-following mist eat her whole. Firepaw ran ahead, sending her prayers to the grey-she cat and tom. Crowpaw hurried behind, almost having the tip of his tail bit by the fog.
"Up ahead! I think I see something!" Volepaw yowled back over her shoulder. Firepaw and her brother charged up the slope as fast as they could. They crashed into Volepaw who then smashed her face into a wall of stone.
"We're stuck!" Volepaw caterwauled. The mist kept rolling towards them, slowly, as if to give them time to accept their fates. Volepaw closed her eyes, Firepaw knew she was diving into some cat's mind. She opened her eyes and shook her head, meaning no one was in the mist, it had no mind, nothing. It was an empty being. Firepaw closed her eyes. She heard the mist roar in her ears as she accepted her fate.
