Juliet's eyes widened. "Shawn- I-" she stammered. Shawn smiled holding out the ring for her to see. "Of course Shawn!" Juliet flung her arms around Shawn's neck and kissed his cheek. The crowd behind them cheered. Shawn looked into her eyes and pulled her face close, kissing her on the mouth.
"I love you Jules. I always have." Shawn whispered so only she could hear. He slid the ring over Juliet's finger.
"Shawn, this is- This is just beautiful!" Juliet squealed, leaning in to kiss him one more time. Shawn smiled, holding her hand in his. He turned around and picked up his glass and rose it in the air. Everyone did the same.
"To a soon-to-be mom and now, a soon-to-be Spencer!" Shawn smiled and took a swig of his champagne
After everyone left, Juliet plopped down in her bed with a sigh. Shawn lay next to her. "Can you believe that in about ten weeks we'll have our little baby Sydney laying in a crib in that nursery?" Juliet turned over and looked at him happily.
Shawn smiled, "It's gonna be so fun." he agreed. "It's come so fast." Shawn added.
Juliet agreed and scooted closer to him. "And soon, we'll be married." she smiled. Shawn placed his arm over her waist. He lay his head on her shoulder and sighed.
"It'll be awesome." he sighed, and at that moment Juliet felt complete. Like, at that moment, everything in her life was complete, like everything was leading up to this moment. She began daydreaming of what life would be like with a child and a husband. It seemed almost perfect. She was brought back to reality when a thought struck her.
"Shawn, we'll have more kids, right?" Juliet asked nonchalantly.
The question was so simple yet so deep. "Jules, I honestly don't know. We'll have to see how this one goes." Shawn answered flawlessly. "But, if you want more kids then so be it." he continued.
Juliet chuckled at the last part. "I want a full house," she joked. "One child per square foot." Juliet giggled. Shawn pulled her closer until their bodies were touching.
"I love you Juliet. You're going to be a great mom and wife." he kissed her neck and closed his eyes.
Juliet smiled, "I love you too Shawn." she closed her eyes and was soon asleep.
Twelve Weeks Later
Juliet sat down on a hospital bed, waiting for Dr. Carmen to come into their room. Shawn looked at her anxiously. "Are you ready for this?" he asked, grabbing her hand and rubbing his thumb on the top of it. Juliet nodded.
She was now 40 weeks pregnant and Dr. Carmen decided to induce her labor. Juliet held her hands over her stomach and sighed. Shawn smiled, "Our Sydney will be here very soon!" he assured Juliet, rubbing her hand.
Dr. Carmen walked into the room and greeted them. "You look ready." she commented with a wide smile. Juliet and Shawn both nodded. "Alrighty then, let's get this started." Dr. Carmen clapped her hands together and got a few nurses in the room. She broke Juliet's water and labor began.
After about an hour of labor, Juliet had fully dilated and it only took another hour for the baby to be born. "It's a girl!" a nurse smiled, holding the baby up for Juliet to see. Shawn squeezed Juliet's hand and smiled. A nurse handed him a pair of scissors and he cut the umbilical cord off the baby.
"Jules, she is beautiful." Shawn kissed Juliet on her sweaty forehead. A nurse cleaned the blood off the baby, wrapped her in a blanket and lay her in Juliet's arms. Juliet felt tears in her eyes.
"Aw, Shawn, she's adorable." Juliet kissed the baby's forehead. Sydney wailed a high pitched cry and Juliet rocked her in her arms. Shawn felt his heart swell with pride.
A nurse was directed to take the baby to a nursery, so she did. Juliet looked over at Shawn, a big smile across her face. "Sydney is here." she said simply. Shawn nodded, leaning in to kiss her. He moved the hair out of her face and dabbed her forehead with a rag.
"You did great, sunshine." he whispered, giving her another kiss.
Two Days Later
It was only 4:30 am and Sydney woke up crying. Juliet groaned and shook Shawn, "Your turn." she smiled, watching his reaction. He smiled and rolled out of bed, walking into the nursery.
"Shh, Syd." Juliet heard Shawn say. "Let's change that diaper of yours." he said in a soft voice. Juliet sighed and walked into the nursery to meet him.
"What's wrong this time?" Juliet asked, embracing his waist. She didn't need and answer because a grotesque fume filled the air. "Ooh, you got lucky!" Juliet giggled, plugging her nose. Shawn chuckled and tried to fix the diaper as quickly as possible. When he was done he held Sydney up in the air and imitated the Lion King chant. Juliet grabbed for her. "Shawn please be careful, she's only a few days old." she begged, rocking Sydney in her arms.
"Alright Syd, let's get you back to sleep." Juliet whispered, placing her in her crib. She grabbed Shawn's hand and walked back to their bedroom.
They both lay back down in their bed and Shawn wrapped his arm around Juliet.
6:00 a.m.
Juliet stretched and looked over at Shawn who was still fast asleep. She heard a few noises coming from the baby monitor in their room and she decided to see what was wrong. Juliet shuffled into the nursery and saw her Sydney wide awake. "Hi sweetie." Juliet reached down and picked her baby up. "Todays a big day, the family is coming over to meet you, so let's get you all dressed up and pretty." Juliet talked to Sydney like she understood.
She reached for a dress on the side of the crib that Shawn had laid out for today. It was a metallic pink color with a butterfly on the chest, it almost looked like a dress you'd put on a doll. Juliet put it on Sydney and carried her into the kitchen to get a bottle. She placed it in Sydney's mouth and bounced her gently. "Are you excited to meet grandma and Grandpa?" Juliet said, barely above a whisper. Sydney squirmed around.
Shawn snuck up behind her and lay his head on her shoulder. "Good mornin'." he giggled as he watched her jump.
"Shawn," she breathed, "I almost dropped Sydney!" she joked, leaning into him.
"This one looks beautiful," Shawn pointed to Sydney, he looked up at Juliet, "I've seen better." he joked, pushing his lips onto hers.
Juliet punched his arm gently and handed Sydney to him. "I'm going to go get dressed, my parents will be here in a few minutes." Juliet waltzed into her room.
There was a faint knock at the door and Juliet rushed to answer. Behind the door was her two smiling parents. The immediately rushed to Juliet who was holding Sydney.
"Aw, Juliet, she is adorable." Maryanne cooed, rubbing Sydney's bald head. Maryanne reached for Sydney and Juliet placed her in her arms. Lloyd watched with a smile.
Shawn walked out from their room, buttoning the last button on his shirt. "Hi guys!" he smiled. Lloyd nodded with a wink.
"Did you name her Sydney?" Maryanne asked. Juliet and Shawn nodded in unison. Sydney squirmed in Maryanne's arms. Juliet reached for her and calmed her down.
"When do you go back to work?" Lloyd asked.
"Well the Chief said to call her when Syd was born but we've pushed it off." Juliet chuckled. Maryanne smiled. The room was awkwardly silent.
Shawn cleared his throat, "Are you guys hungry? My parents should be over soon so you guys can just, you know, hang." he said. Maryanne and Lloyd nodded as Juliet handed Lloyd the baby.
After a few minutes, Henry knocked on the door. He was greeted by Shawn and he looked around for Sydney. Once he realized that she was already being held by someone, he pulled Shawn aside. "Shawn, are you planning on teaching her how I taught you?" he asked awkwardly.
Shawn shrugged, "Dad, she's barely a week old, I have plenty of time." Shawn blew air out of his nose.
Henry smiled, "Well, it's mean a lot to me if you did." he said, walking back into the living room.
Shawn nodded and followed his dad into the living room.
That night, when Juliet was asleep, Shawn sat in the rocking chair in the nursery and thought about what his dad had told him. He wasn't sure if Juliet would want it that way. He looked over at his new child and smiled. He vowed to himself to start her "training" when she turned 1.
So that's a short, long, chapter.
I'm kind of conflicted. Do you guys think I should end this book or keep writing. After all this is my first FanFic and I just wrote it as the first idea that came to my head. I have a few better ideas brewing and i want your opinion.
Please review what you think.
