So, something that's been a while coming. Hope this is to your liking peeps

Alexander Potter sat on the swing and stared out into the distance ahead of him. Until a few days ago, he had been at St Mungo's hospital. At least that's what they had told him. Lex didn't remember much.

Actually, he didn't remember anything. And he apparently owed it all to a Death Eater by the name of Barty Crouch Jr.

The story that he'd been told was that after completing the Tri-wizard Tournament, he had been taken hostage by this "Death Eater" and his memories had been erased in the ensuing melee...

Utter madness.

Why had he been targeted? Because apparently he and his brother had defeated a Dark Lord as babies. Freaking babies!

Oh, and then there was the fact that they attended a magic school and were wizards.

He more readily believed his Uncle's excuses to those who came in roaring distance: he'd been in a fight at the boarding school he attended, St Brutus', and had come away with a rather nasty concussion that had led to temporary memory loss.

At least that way there was some hope that it wasn't permanent, like that old man with the long white beard had informed him.

He sighed and looked into the sky. His life before sounded hectic, and mad and... Amazing.

Absolutely amazing. Magic? Real magic... It couldn't be true could it? Harry had told him some stories, adventures they'd shared, enemies they'd conquered... Lex couldn't remember a single piece of it.

Well, maybe one.

Alex ran quickly through the stacks, clutching desperately at the person lagging behind him. He turned a corner and saw a light ahead go out, plunging that row into darkness. He immediately spun around and ran up the bookcase, using the shelves as handholds. Beside him, the lithe figure mirrored his movements as well as the rest of the group. Together they climbed the book shelf that was as tall as a house.

They climbed over and quickly shimmy along after Alex pointed out a ladder. They quickly slid to the bottom where Alex slid down against the next shelf, panting heavily as he sat. The shadowy group rushed ahead and entered a large, heavy door. Alex heard it ominously slam shut and then he forgot all about the figures.
Beside him, the graceful figure bent down and wiped a lock of hair from his face. Her face, as far as he could tell it was a girl before him, was indistinct, blurry. He couldn't make out any of her features, apart from her beautiful mane of white-blonde hair.

"You have to run... It's not safe here. I don't want to lose you," Alex whispered hoarsely as he felt a tear run down his face. "I can't do this without you."

He couldn't see it, but he felt the expressionless ghost smile as she cupped his face. to the side, Alex saw a light go out and a spasm of fear raced through him. "Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end. Even if it's not in the way we expect."

She leaned forward and kissed him, a chaste and innocent kiss and as Alex closed his eyes, holding this mysterious woman close, he heard the light above them go out and he knew no more.

He looked up at the sky and let out a breath. Biggest heatwave since records began, the summer holidays were upon them and children across the country were outside doing things. All Lex could think about was questioning his own sanity.

"I was wondering where I'd find you," said a voice behind him. Glancing over his shoulder, Lex saw his brother Harry. Lex returned to staring ahead as Harry sat on the swing next to him. "Used to be I'd never be able to sneak up on you. Still adjusting?" he asks, sympathetically.

"Adjusting is a strong word..." Lex replied distantly, not looking towards his brother. "I have nothing Harry. You say you're my brother... I don't even know you. You're a stranger to me. I don't even know me," he added quietly.

Harry looked ahead sadly, glancing at Lex several times. "Alexander Desmond Potter was my big brother. He was my hero. The bravest, cleverest, most cunning and caring person I've ever met. Our whole lives, he looked out for me, made sure I was safe, made sure that I was okay. He hardly ever spent time worrying about himself. He," Harry's voice breaks and he turns away. Lex glanced at him in horror; he hadn't realised Harry was crying. "He took care of me. He never backed down, always took everything in stride with a grin. He was the best..." Harry hides his face in his hands, but Lex made out his next words. "..friend I ever had."

Lex cocked his head to the side. He was confused as to why Harry was describing the Alex he knew like this. But then it hit him. The Alex that Harry knew, the big brother he grew up with... He was gone, replaced by this facsimile that sat next to him. It was like looking at a picture for Harry, one of the ones that moved. It wasn't really Alex, it just looked like him. And in a way, Harry needed that. He needed Alex. His brother had looked after him for his whole life and now he was gone, Harry felt scared and vulnerable.

Harry needed Alex. Lex raised his hand to place it on Harry's shoulder as his sobs began to subside. Could he rise to the challenge? Being the brother that he used to be?

He wasn't sure. But he couldn't let the boy, his brother, carry that burden by himself.

Ahead, he saw a group of young boys heading towards them both. Lex squinted and made out his cousin, Dudley. A spoiled whale of a bully, he made Lex's blood boil just by his mere presence. A smirk lit across his face, and had he been watching, Harry would have said the old Alex was back, just for a moment.

"Never back down eh?" Harry heard Lex mutter before the swingset creaked from movement.

What he did see when he looked up is Lex walking towards the group, swaggering over as he shouted abuse. Harry rushed to his feet in fear. His Alex, could handle thug like Dudley and his friends anyday but this Lex? Harry had had to teach him how to tie his shoelaces last week.

"What's he crying for," Dudley asked with a grin as Lex approached. "Did have a bad dream again? 'Alex, no! Don't forget, come back!" he laughed, his friends joining him. Lex cocked his head to the side.

"Not quite cousin, he caught sight of your face and was unprepared for the troll-like creature we have the misfortune to call our cousin." Lex smiled broadly at the look of shock on Dudley's face as he gestured back the way he had come. "So if you would kindly leave, Harry and I have to prepare ourselves before we have to cast our gaze upon that whale of a father you have."

There was a moment of silence as Dudley put the insults together. When it clicked, his fists balled and he started towards Lex. "You really did hit your head," Dudley growled as he brought his fist up to smack Lex's chin... to find he wasn't there.

Lex had stepped to the side so that Dudley's swing had gone wide without even realising it. He had barely seen Dudley's fist move before his body had sprung back. Shaking his arms and shoulders as Dudley settled into a boxing stance, Lex mirrored him.

Before either of them could move, Harry sprung forward with his stick, or wand, pointed towards Dudley. Lex had his as well, but he had no idea how to use it. Dudley however looked terrified and dropped out of his fighters stance, holding his arms up in surrender.

"Mum said you weren't allowed," he whimpered in fear. Lex looked between the two. Dudley was a muggle, non-magical. Fighting with fists, he was in his element as both a boxer and a bully. Threaten with magic... and he had no idea how to react.

"I don't give a damn," Harry said angrily. He brought the wand closer and Dudley, ignoring the jeers of his friends behind him, kept his eyes firmly fixed on the tip.

Lex had no idea why, but a pigs tail floated across his mind for a second...

Lex frowned. Something was wrong. He looked up and saw heavy stormclouds rolling in, blotting out the sun. His mouth opened in shock and he nearly choked as the heavy rain started to fall.

"What are you doing?" Dudley asked Harry, terrified, who had lowered his wand and was looking to Lex. He shrugged in confusion. Was this magic?

"Come on," Harry said as he started to sprint towards Privet Drive. Lex and Dudley quickly followed and soon Lex overtook Harry by a few feet. They raced forward before coming to a stop in a tunnel and shivered. Soaked through, Lex wringed out the front of his shirt and ruffled his hair.

"Well, that was sudden," he said. Harry and Dudley looked at him and Lex just smiled as he looked down the tunnel. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Harry shake his head and smile. Good, he was okay.

Lex then noticed something. Ahead of them, frost was beginning to creep towards them. And when he said creep, he meant as a wave. He looked up and saw the light flicker as a layer of frost coated it before the bulb blew.
Instinctively, Alex shot out his left hand, splaying the palm and fingers wide. He looked down at his bare hand with some confusion. What was that?

Beside him, he heard a shriek of fear as Dudley was suddenly dragged by some invisible force towards the mouth of the tunnel. At the entrance, a dark cloaked figure seemed to be floating towards him. Turning behind him, he saw another was holding Harry by his neck off the ground. Lex could see some opague substance coming from his brother's face as the creature sucked it down greedily, moving closer with every gulp. Lex didn't want to see what would happen next.

"Dem...en...tor," Harry gasped, staring at Lex desperately.

He closed his eyes.

Suddenly he was in the corridor. The only thing he remembered from his previous life. He looked around, but the bookshelves were empty. There was nothing here to help him. He looked around and saw the door. He rushed towards it, desperately hoping that there was something inside that could help him. He tried the handle, but it was locked. He pounded the door in frustration.

"I need help!" he screamed loudly. Without Harry, he had nothing at all. He needed to protect him. "I need something." The door swung open suddenly and he plunged inside. Ahead of him, he saw a blinding light

"What you need is a weapon," said a voice from behind him. Turning sharply, he saw a large figure with an old fashioned coat on, with a beaked red hood. Try as he might he couldn't make out his face.

"Wh-who are you," Lex asked.

"Irrelevant," said another voice. Looking to his left, Lex saw a man in dark brown leather armour, with a green hood keeping his face in shadow. "You need a wand to face this creature."

"Harry called it a... Dementor? What is that?"

"Dementor," started a voice to his right. He saw another figure in long blue robes, "Guardians of Azkaban, the wizard prison, they have the power to literally suck the happiness from a person, leaving them with only their worst experiences. Their most terrible power is known as the Dementors Kiss, in which they suck the soul out of the body. It is seen as a fate worse than death."

"How do I stop them?" Lex asked, fists balling in determination.

"In the past, you have used the charm Expecto Patronum, accompanied with a happy memory," says a final voice from behind him again. Turning, Lex saw another figure, this one is yellowed robes similar to the blue figure, though much more decorated. "But with your mind the blank slate that it is, this option is not available."

"So what do I do? How do I stop it hurting Harry?" he asked desperately. The figures stayed silent. "Can you tell me anything useful at all.?"

Together, the four robed figures seemed to straighten. "Laa shay'a waqi'un mutlaq bale kouloun moumkin."
Lex looked upon them in confusion. What language were they speaking? But before he could receive an answer, he was pulled from the room and heard the heavy door slam shut.

Lex opened his eyes. His eyes darted to the ground, where Harry had dropped his wand. Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out his own.

Weapon, check.

Lex struggled for a moment with a happy memory. He had no memories, happy or otherwise. His head ached.

Alex was at peace as the blonde girl lay in his arms. He drew a pattern on her arm with his fingers. Beneath him, he felt the dewy grass he was laying on. He felt the warmth of the sun covering him like a blanket. A slight breeze passed over his face, causing him to smile at the perfect beauty of the moment.

The memory, if that's what it was, filled him with a feeling of hope. Of happiness.

It was the best he was going to get.

"Expecto Patronum," he screamed, as a silvery eagle erupted from the tip of his wand. It crashed into the Dementor holding Harry and it screamed an unearthly howl as it fled from the bird. Looking behind him, he saw the Dementor holding Dudley was mere inches from his face.

Staying calm and focussing on his happy thought, he swung his wand around and pointed it at the Dementor. His eagle flew forward like a bullet and tore into the dark creature. It disappeared after flying out of the tunnel. Beside him, Lex could hear Harry coughing and spluttering. But he only had eyes for the shining eagle who hovered in front of him. It seemed to be looking him in the eyes, and gave a small nod. It's work done, it dissipated into the wind, Lex watching the last spark go out.

"Magic," he whispered with a childish smile, filled with awe. It was real.

"Dudley!" Harry cried as he darted towards their cousin. The moment over, Lex moved to join them, keeping his wand to his side. Those Dementor things might come back. "Dudley, can you hear me."

"He's okay, they didn't Kiss him," Lex said. Harry looked back at him.

"What do you mean? Have you got your memories back? Do you remember?" Harry asked, his eyes glittering with confusion and hope.

"No, the spell just came back to me," He said sympathetically. Harry looked down, shoulders slumped. For a moment, he had hoped...

"We have to get out of here," Harry said, looking towards the end of the tunnel and freezing. Following his look, Lex froze as well. At the end of the alley was one of their neighbours, Mrs Figg.

Harry stuttered as his mind raced to make an excuse, but Lex merely cocked his head. He blinked, took a deep breath and opened his eyes.

The world, dim from the lights of the tunnel going out, was now a glittering black. He could make out almost every detail, from the empty bottle a few feet away to the newspaper flying down the path. He looked at Harry, who shone with a brilliant blue light, to Dudley, who was golden, to Mrs Figg, who shared the same hue as Harry.

Whatever this Sight was, Lex knew he was among friends.

A/N: So yeah... This is back. Enjoy that.
