Chapter 3

Violet woke up first and saw that her younger brother had almost fallen out of his bed. She sighed deeply and clambered out of her double bed towards her brothers. Trudging like a zombie she bent down and pushed her brothers head onto his pillow, he groaned loudly and turned onto his side.
Violet peered back at her brother and smiled.

Violet then walked out into the hallway and flicked the light on. It was too bright to see the doors on each side of her so she ripped open the curtains and flicked off the light switch.

Violet then tiptoed down the corridor trying not to wake her mother and father up and stepped into the toilet.

Klaus had woken up now and had walked to the kitchen to get some breakfast were he saw Violet trying to reach the Frosties.

She tried climbing on the counter and reaching but it was helpless. Klaus asked her if she needed help and she acknowledged his offer. Violet knelt on the counter and Klaus sat on her shoulders (in a piggy-back position). He just touched the Frosties and managed to knock them onto the counter. He grinned and said to Violet,
"See I told you we could get them without Mummy and Daddy." Suddenly Klaus felt his back fall backwards into thin air and he started to fall. Violet tried to get hold of him but she was too weak. They were both falling towards the concrete floor.
A hand pressed on Klaus' and Violet's back and pushed them forwards to the counter. It was their father.
He had heard the racket in the kitchen Violet had caused and rushed down to see what they were up to.
"Oh my, I'm glad I came down here to see how you were. Are you all right? Are you hurt? Oh and NEVER do that again!" Mr Edwards said in a stern tone. "Don't worry, I won't tell your mother about this."

Violet and Klaus' mother soon got out of bed and sat on the sofa in the living room. She called their father into the living room as well but did not accept the children in there whilst they were talking.

Violet and Klaus sat outside of the living room and sat on beanbags from the 2nd floor library. The door then opened and revealed their mother and father with grins on each of their faces. Their mother's head rested on their fathers and they were both holding hands tightly as they rubbed their noses together to show their sign of affection to each other.

"Children, me and your father have an announcement to make," Their mother whispered as Violet and Klaus stood up from the seats, "We, your father and I, are-are. Well we're having a baby. Isn't that wonderful?"
Violet smiled and awed at the speech whereas Klaus looked puzzled.
"Mother?" Klaus asked.

"Yes sweetheart?" She replied.
"Is this 'baby' fellow or a matron?" Klaus asked again.

Silence

"A boy or a girl?" Klaus asked.

"Well, we're not sure yet. But we'll tell you as soon as we find out! Now you two we'll be late for church if we don't hurry up so shoo, shoo!" Their mother hurried them of to their room and pecked their father's cheek but then he said something that followed with a romantic kiss on the lips.

Violet and Klaus pulled faces as they kissed in plain sight. They then raced to their room and got ready for an unfortunate event at their local church…
