Chapter 5

"Is he coming or not?!" soon to be Mrs Baudelaire exclaimed, "It's quarter past 10 and he still isn't here! This is a disaster!"

This 'disaster' happened at 10:15am when Violet and Klaus' mother and father were supposed to have their wedding but Mr Edwards was late for the service.

Shall we check on him?

"I'm late for my own wedding! Driver,"

"Yes sir?" asked the driver.

"Can you not drive faster!" asked Mr Edwards rhetorically.

"Well actually sir-"

"It was a rhetorical question Gregory keep up with the system."

"Oh ok sir, right you are."

"Oh I'm sorry Gregory I do like you but, well how can I say this nicely? I'm late for my own wedding, you're sitting here chatting away and you're not paying attention to the traffic lights!"

The cabby wasn't paying attention to the traffic lights because he was looking at Mr Edwards and as soon as Mr Edwards had stopped talking Gregory sped through town straight into a traffic jam.

9:00am

"Ouch! That hurt! Mummy, tell her to stop!"

"Klaus darling she's just trying to tidy up your hair and make it look nice, it'll only be a few more seconds, just try and hold still."

"But mummy-"

"Klaus, mummy told you to hold still. It's her wedding day after all." Violet exclaimed.

"There you go hun, all done."

"Finally!" Klaus cheered as he hopped off of the stall, "Violet,"

Violet's hair had just been finished as well so she replied, "Yes, Klaus?"

"Well, since we're both not doing anything, would you like to play with me?" Klaus asked.

"Oh fine!" Violet answered.

They then rushed off to goodness knows where and played some sort of game.

8:00am

Miss Baudelaire was at the huge Baudelaire Mansion whilst Mr Edwards was staying at his friend Michael's house due to the wedding, it was a tradition not to see the bride until the wedding day.

"Wake up my sweets, it's the big day!" Miss Baudelaire said as she flicked the light switch on.

"Christmas?!" Klaus asked in a half awake, half asleep tone.

"No Klaus it's the wedding?" Miss Baudelaire answered.

"Oh right that too." Klaus said.

"Mummy what day is it?" Violet asked.

"Well it's 24th of January."

"2004?" Violet asked again.

"2004." Her mother replied cheerfully.

7:00am

"Come on Bertrand it's the big day!"

"Urgh, five more minutes!" Mr Edwards protested.

"No! We need to get up now!" Michael ordered.

"Oh fine!" Bertrand wined.

This may all be quite confusing, but every wedding day is confusing. So try and keep up.
