Epilogue
Eight weeks had already gone by, since Sherlock had taken in both Shadow and Sakura. He had already told Mrs. Hudson about their story, and surprisingly enough she wasn't afraid of Shadow when she first saw him. Of course she thought that John and him were taking a step further, but John clarified for the hundredth time, that he and Sherlock were not gay.
The two dogs, Kaze and Mizu, had both managed to get adopted by a couple that lived in the countryside and they are both happy as can be.
Sherlock had given Gibbs the memory stick containing Sakura's father research, and he took it back with him to America where it would be safe. Sherlock had told no one of the code to Shadow's phone, he just kept it to himself.
For the first few weeks that Sakura and Shadow had stayed, he had taken them on several cases, most of them involving murder cases. They were indeed good at deducing, but not that good; Sherlock knew that they both had a long way to go, before they could be as good as he is.
As each case went by, rumors have been spreading around London, that Sherlock Holmes, actually had adopted two children, and were solving cases with him and John. Of course they were not wrong about that; Although some of the citizens have been denying that fact.
At the New Scotland Yard, many of the press and the media were eagerly waiting for the two as well as the detective to answer many of their questions.
Sakura, in wearing a brown jacket over a white collared shirt and a dark brown skirt, peeked through the window and saw the many people in the room next door. Sakura gulped as she saw the how many there were. Sherlock walked over to her, and asked, "Is there something the matter?"
"There so many people in there." She said.
"Well, yeah that's the news for you." John said to the little one, "Hate to say it, but you're going to have to get used to it. These days, Sherlock is pretty popular now."
"Oh god, what if I mess up?" Sakura asked
"You're not going to mess up." Sherlock said, "They'll ask a lot of simple questions, and you'll just have to answer them truthfully."
"Thanks, that makes me feel a little better." She said to the detective.
"Boy, I wish I had your confidence." Shadow said, fixing up his shirt, and his hood that was over head, "Aren't you even a little nervous about this?"
"Actually, to be quite honest, I'm not at all nervous about it." Sherlock said, "It kind of rubs off on you after you've done it a few times."
"That's easier said than done. I've gotta be honest with you, I haven't been around this many people before. The only people I've been around are drug addicts and criminals."
"Welcome to my world than." Sherlock said with a smile.
"It's not that big of a deal Shadow." John had reassured, "It's just a quick couple of questions, and than we're done."
"I sure hope you're right about that."
They saw Lestrade walk into the room, and went over to the mic.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the press and media." Lestrade had said over the mic
"Thank you all for coming here today. I understand that there have been many rumors going about these two new trainees that the detective Sherlock Holmes has bought in a month ago. Well it's about time we put those rumors to rest… They are true. Of course some of you had already known that by now. For two months they have been working with us on many cases, and with each and every one of them, they have brought in many criminals to justice. Here at Scotland Yard, we owe them everything for bringing people like them in for the law to decide their fate."
He saw the press and the media had side conversations, obviously about Shadow and Sakura. He saw that a couple of them had doubts about them.
"You know something, when I first heard from Sherlock that he was making them his next of kin, I thought to myself, that was just insane. But after the first few cases I had worked with them, I saw that they had something that Sherlock obviously saw something in them that I didn't. He sees that they become inspirational to others to show that others that, yes we can understand the great detective himself, Sherlock Holmes. So without any further delays, please give a warm welcome to Sakura Kinomoto, and Shadow Fukushima."
The crowd gave an applause as they saw the two walk in the room with Sherlock and John beside them. Lestrade shook their hands as a greeting to them, and showed them to their seats. After the applause ended Shadow gulped along with Sakura. He cleared his throat and mumbled, "Here it goes."
He tapped on the mic, "Hi there. I'm Shadow Fukushima, and this is Sakura Kinomoto. You know, the ones who are going to be with the sociopath for now."
Many questions were asked for Sherlock, Sakura and Shadow, some that they were both unable to answer, but one question had caught their eye.
One of the press had asked, "Question for Ms. Kinomoto and Mr. Fukushima, why did you decide to accept Sherlock's offer in adopting you?"
"Well…" Shadow said, "Okay so, when I first heard my good friend John say that I was getting adopted by famous Sherlock Holmes, I have to be honest I just stood there dumbfounded."
This got some of the press to laugh. Shadow had continue.
"Yeah, I'm not gonna lie that was my reaction. In all seriousness, I was honored at the fact that we were going to have a second chance at a family, and thankful that we know have people who are willing to accept us for all the wrong we had done."
One life
Is not a long time
When you're waiting
For a small sign
Sakura than said as answer.
"At one point, I had almost lost hope. When I found myself dyeing in the cold street I thought no one would come for me. But not Sherlock and John, if it hadn't been for them, I wouldn't be here. I was told from Shadow, that most people would abandon me, since people would consider us different. I guess it would be true, for many. I'm just glad that we met people that understand us, just like my parents."
Patience
Is hard to find
Shadows
Seem to fill your life
Another member of the press had asked, "Question for Mister Fukushima, some have been thinking that Sherlock Holmes had made a mistake, how do you respond to that?"
Shadow then replied, "The only thing I could say is that, everyone in life has all made mistakes, I know I have. Most mistakes that people can't fix. But in all honesty, I don't think Sherlock made a mistake in taking us in."
Don't be disappointed
Don't let your heart break
Don't spend another minute
In this way
"One more question, for Sherlock Holmes this time." The press said, "Do you think that they will be better than you? If not, what's the purpose in teaching them?"
"Seriously? What kind of a question is that?" Sherlock mumbled to John, "Just answer the question." John replied back.
It's okay
Sherlock heaved a sigh and answered, "Well to be completely honest, in all the cases that we have been to so far, they pretty good but they are not that good. They still have a long way to go in all of this. And the purpose of this is, just to show all of you that quote on quote normal people can actually be better than you are now. It's to show that you can see even the smallest things when you look at a person. That is all."
The press clapped their hands as the photographers took their pictures of them.
Dry your eyes now baby
Broken wings won't hold you down
You'll take flight soon baby
And you'll be lifted up
After the last few questions, they walked out of the room of the press. Shadow heaved a sigh as he said to the detective, "Man that was intense. I didn't think I was going to make it."
"Me neither." Sakura said.
"Like we said." John said, "You'll get used to it. Cause there is going to be a lot more of them. With the cases we'll be going on."
"Great… Just what we needed." Shadow said with his ears going down in his hood, letting Sakura giggle seeing his ears going down.
Sherlock just placed a hand on his shoulder, "I feel your pain. Really."
"Do you really think we'll get better at what you do?" Sakura had asked,
Sherlock had said, "I'm sure you two will, you just got a lot to learn."
They turned to leave New Scotland Yard. Sherlock couldn't help but look over at the two of them.
He let out a small smile and thought to himself, "I'm starting to think that taking in these two, was a pretty good idea."
And you'll be there…
-Meanwhile-
Minatsuki and Toto dragged the bag within the abandoned building, where Nazo had waited for them. The corpse was of a young woman with black hair who had died not so long ago. "We got the body like you wanted." Minatsuki said as they tossed it right at his feet, "You sure this body will work?" Toto had asked Nazo.
"It is what she desires." Nazo said.
A snake soon came around Nazo's neck; a snake that had an arrow that reached it's head. Nazo kneeled down to where the body laid. The snake came off of his arm and went to the body; It made it's way into the corpses mouth.
Than in a few moments time, the body began to be filled with life. The color had returned, and the paleness from the skin had had vanished. Just than, the woman sat up and just stretched her arms not caring about who saw her with just her bare skin. Nazo handed the young woman a jacket long enough to cover her body. The woman took the jacket from him.
"Welcome back to the land of the living, Lady Medusa." Nazo had said.
Medusa had finished up buttoning her jacket and fixed her hair, "It's good to be back." Medusa said to him. She began to crack some of her bones so she would be more comfortable, "It's been a while since I had to do something like this. It really is a bit uncomfortable."
"Just be glad Icey here told us to get a young body of a woman for you." Minatsuki said.
"Indeed he did." The snake witch said, "Sherlock's precious new student still alive?"
"Eight weeks have gone and he is still alive and well." Toto said, "It's not like the other subjects we had that had died instantly."
"Good." Medusa said, "That means he is definitely the one we have been looking for. Has he shown any signs yet?"
"Not yet milady." Nazo replied, "But I suspect within the next month, the other one will show himself."
"Excellent." The Witch said, "Continue monitoring him, if he starts showing his colors early, let me know immediately."
"Yes milady." He said while bowing his head.
Medusa chuckled as she made her way out of the building.
"Those humans really are dumb. They think they have won this battle. What they don't know is, this battle has been won by me…"
Deep within the darkness, there sat a creature that was not a creature of hell, but worst than any monster; Curled up in a ball, rocking back and forth, while breathing uncontrollable. It's nails were long and stained with blood, and it's arm wasn't even human. It acted like an animal but spoke words as clear as the sky.
"WHITE ROSES…" It said, "TOO MUCH… WHITE ROSES…"
It dug its own nails into it's skin until it started to bleed with red and black blood.
"PAINT THEM… PAINT THEM..." It said as it sunk it's nails deeper in it's skin causing to bleed more
"PAINT THE ROSES RED..."
