Chapter Eight ~ Answers Revealed

Rubbing my sleeve on my face, I waited until all the Ravenclaw Third Years had exited the classroom. Getting up I walked over to the Professor and tapped on his wooden desk. 'Um Professor, is the prophecy of the future familiar to you?' I asked him. 'Oh you mean the Prophetia de Futuris?' he asked in that same robotic voice. I frowned that realised he was probably speaking in Latin, so I nodded. 'Well if you concern yourself as part of this prophecy then you are in grave danger,' he droned then added, 'Of course you wouldn't know, who your true parents are. You see my child your far older than any Seventh Year in this school. In fact I think you would date back to the time of Helena Ravenclaw,'

My mouth hung open very wide and I stared at the ghost Professor in disbelief. 'No you've got it wrong,' I whispered but he only shook his head and continued, 'You see you were frozen in time by a force of evil, Salazar Slytherin to be exact. You were frozen until the point in time where the child would be born, so that you could be born as well,' he said and then glided back to his seat. I just grabbed my bag and stormed out of the classroom, but if there was anyone I wanted to talk to it was Nikolas. However I only had around three minutes to get to Care of Magical Creatures, so walking outside I decided to find him at Lunch.

Walking down to Hagrid's Hut the time flew by. After Care of Magical Creatures we had Divination in which Gray stayed clear of me and then Lunch! Walking into the Great Hall, I looked over to the Slytherin Table and spotted Nikola's brown flicky hair. 'Nikolas!' I shouted waving my hands wildly, and he looked at me then smiled. Getting up he hugged me tight and then led me over to the Ravenclaw Table. 'Nikolas you may think you're older than me, but I'm definitely older you!' I said and he frowned slightly, puzzled at what I had just said. 'Apparently according to Prophetia de Futuris, I have been around since the Medieval Times but I was frozen until the Dark Child was born,' I said quietly and he just frowned, as if he doubted what I had just said. "I'm telling the truth Nick, honest!" I whined, and he simply nodded.

'So what do you have after lunch my around 900 year old friend?' he asked and I mildly punched his arm, laughing. 'Double Defence Against the Dark Arts,' I said whilst pouring some pumpkin juice into a goblet. 'Ah, the new Professor's amazing, really knows his stuff!' he said but then it hit me bang in the face. We have double Defence Against the Dark Arts, or DADA, with the Gryffindors this meant Angus and Amy-Rose would be united together. 'And it's with the Gryffindors,' I mumbled, tucking into some sort of pasta salad. Well it wasn't really tucking in, more like moving the food around the plate with my fork. 'You need to eat Rowe,' Nikolas said, eyeing my plate of food. I shook my head and pushed the plate away.

I shook my head and pouted at him, trying my puppy dog eyes on him but nothing fooled Nikolas. 'I thought dogs were always hungry,' he whispered and I groaned, and grabbed my plate back. Shoving some food into my mouth, I chewed and then ate another shovel of pasta and assorted vegetables. ''Nikolas, it doesn't add up if the piece of Voldemort's soul attached to the nearest living thing then why not me?'' I asked. He just frowned and then smiled, ''What if you had a twin, I mean face it you and this child look exactly the same!'' he said and then I thought some more and realised he was probably right.

Gray's POV

Amy-Rose was perfect in every way. Her looks, her personality, her intelligence, everything about her was perfection. And I loved her with all my heart, something I have never done before. She was right here, sitting on my lap at the Ravenclaw Table and smiling right up at me. ''What about Rowena?'' she asked indicating to my 'friend' sitting next to Nikolas. ''Rowena who?'' I asked and burst out laughing, as did she. Rowena looked my way and frowned, then turned back to her friend Nikolas. Why should I care for her? We weren't even proper friends until everyone was called home, and even that was short lived. Anyway she had this Nikolas now and I had Amy-Rose, why should I care for stupid Rowena?

''Gray, we have Defence Against the Dark Arts next will you sit next to me?'' Amy-Rose asked, doing her cute cat eyes. 'Yes of course silly!' I said kissing her on her sweet nose. She looked at Rowena and scowled as she made a grimacing face to Nikolas. ''Its not like she's ever been in love,'' she huffed angrily and I nodded. If Rowena did have any feelings, then she sure wasn't showing them!

''What about the Dark Child?'' I asked her, even though Rowena wasn't my friend other people's lives were in danger as well. ''Oh she can figure it out on her own, or just give herself up but shes far too selfish to do that!'" Amy-Rose said spitefully. I agreed with what she said, Rowena should just give herself up and then this would be all over and done with. She was just either too selfish or too much a coward to do so in the first place.

''What do think that new teacher is going to be like?"' I ask my girlfriend and she thinks for a bit then replies, 'Well his Father was my Dad's Godfather and Dad says that Sirius Black was very good as a member of the Order, so I have high expectations,'' she said and then I thought about it and- as usual- agreed with her judgement. Looking at my watch I saw it was twenty past one, meaning that in ten minutes we should be at DADA. Downing a glass of water, I checked my bag and Amy-Rose carefully slid off my lap and checked hers. Standing up I grabbed her warm hand and walked down the corridor. ''You know I'm surprised I haven't turned into my cat form,'" she said and I looked at her bewildered. ''When my emotions are high, or out of balance then thats when I turn,'' she said and I understood. She was almost like Rowena, but more graceful.

Walking up a number of stairs, we went to the usual classroom, number Six on the Third Floor and were surprised to see the teacher already inside. Selecting a two seats at the back, I plonked my bag on the wooden desk and slid my ink pot into the ink stand, got out some parchment, my quill and DADA textbook. Amy-Rose did the same, then sat down placing her small hand over my slightly bigger one. Clasping it, she squeezed it as the other Ravenclaw and Gryffindor students began to arrive.

To my suprise there was a girl of medium height, with long brown hair that had a side parting and dark brown eyes with a slight scar over the right one. She was standing at the front leaning on the teacher's chair, her skirt was pulled up, she was wearing a white shirt and black braces, a Gryffindor tie, black robes that were far too big for her and some black clunky shoes. ''Thats the new girl in our House,'' Amy-Rose whispered, and I nodded then said, ''She must be Professor Black's daughter,''. However Professor Black looked as if he was preparing some sort of experiment, as Third Year was the year where you learnt about dark creatures. He had shoulder length, wavy dark brown hair and eyes just like his daughter and was wearing a black shirt, purple waistcoat, brown blazer and black trousers.

He was bent over a rather large fish tank that was covered in a cream coloured cloth, and gurgling sounds kept coming from it. Suddenly Rowena rushed in and grabbed her usual seat at the front of the classroom, all by herself. Just then the bell went and the lesson began to start. ''Hello there, I'm the new teacher Professor Sirius Black Jr. but you may call me Professor Black,'' he started then took a breath and continued,''This here is my daughter Samantha Black,''he said as the girl scowled at him and muttered something under her breath,''But she prefers to be called Sam, now Miss Black if you would please take a seat next to, lets see Miss Scamander?'' he asked and Rowena nodded but moved as far away as possible from Sam who just shrugged and whistled.

''Oh God, shall we call them Tweedledum and Tweedledee?'' Amy-Rose said sarcastically and I covered my hand with my mouth to stop myself from laughing. '"Now class I am about to show you a Grindylow, please be warned they despise humans and have only ever been tamed by merpeople so please don't try to handle them,'' he said and pulled off the cloth on top of the large tank. Suddenly some of the wussy girls began screaming, for in the tank was a creature that was sickly green in colour, and had disgusting green teeth, small little horns and long spindly fingers. It was snarling, and looked as if it were about to rip something or someone to shreds.

Amy-Rose just sighed, ''I've learnt all about Grindylows," she said and breathed out loudly. Suddenly there was a 'POP!' and her ears and tail had popped out! Grabbing my cloak I threw it over her head and she stayed still, until another pop sounded and she took the cloak off. ''Mr Ashford, if you would please keep your possessions to yourself,'' Professor Black said as he began to talk about the Grindylow.

''Now the Grindylow is a very aggressive creature, and usually eats fish, small sea creatures and algae but will occasionally dine on a human if they venture too close to them. They live in weedy underwater habitats, in Ireland and England and have only been tamed by the merpeople who have always kept them as pets,'' Professor Black explained as Rowena scribbled down some notes.

''She should know this already, being in Ravenclaw,'' I muttered as Professor Black called people up to look at the Grindylow. Eventually he put on some dragonhide gloves and said the Levitating Spell, pointing his black wand right at the Grindylow. It rose slowly out of the murky water, which splashed everywhere and the Grindylow clawed at the air making strange snarling noises. Most the girls apart from Amy-Rose, the Sam girl and Rowena started screaming their heads off. Even some the boys made high pitched wailing sounds.

''Now this is why you have to be very careful of them, their teeth are extremely sharp, and these hands have very dangerous and very sharp claws capable of doing a lot of damage,''he said indicating the claws and teeth with his wand free hand. Plopping the Dark Creature back into the fish tank, he locked the tank and then wrote something on the blackboard with piece of stark white chalk. It read, Page 57, Questions 1-5. Homework is to draw an accurately labelled diagram of the Grindylow.

Opening my book I turned to page 57 and smiled at Amy-Rose who smiled back and simply got on with her work, she had already got up to Question Two! Making a start I worked until the bell rang and the papers were collected in, and then went through the process of noting homework down, packing up and then watched Rowena walk off on her own but the Sam girl seemed to be stalking after her. Taking Amy-Rose's hand, we walked off down the corridor and down to the Great Lake. The blue water shimmered perfectly as the sun set in the sky. 'A perfect sunset,' I said quietly as we sat down and kissed Amy-Rose full on the lips.
