Chapter 13

The next couple of months passed in a blur or normality, well as normal as it could be for two young gay men and their three beautiful children. Cory was healing quickly, within weeks of being back home it was as though the hospital visit had never happened. Kurt and Blaine both noticed little changes about him, but nothing too big that caused them to panic, for example some nights Cory's diaper would be stone cold dry, others it would have leaked onto the sheets. This was something they were told was normal and didn't panic, well they tried not to. Sometimes Cory was quiet and would rub his belly, other times he was loud and would scream all day, but most of the time he was happy and played with Ariella and Devon. Mostly Devon. Whenever Devon was around, Cory didn't see anyone else. Devon loved taking on the role of the hero big brother and would often sit and sing with Cory or play with his toys with him. After he would insist to Kurt and Blaine that they really needed to by Cory more toys because if he was to play to with Cory all day, then the toys should be fun for him too.

"Daddy, are you okay?" Devon asked adorably watching Kurt from the sofa.

"I'm fine, you okay buddy?" Kurt smiled, he was sitting on the arm chair rubbing his stomach, it felt twisted and sore but he couldn't show his son that. He was home alone, Blaine and Cooper had taken the twins out, Devon had chose to stay home and practice his writing with Kurt.

"Yeah, you got sore belly?" Devon asked, he was very intuitive for a four year old, though if anyone asked he would argue that he was almost five. They only had two weeks until his fifth birthday. The theme of which was superheroes. Though the theme had changed already four times, from a boys only party to a Princess and Prince tea party.

"Yeah." Kurt nodded rubbing his eyes. Devon walked over to him and sat beside him on the chair, he gently reached out and rubbed over Kurt's belly.

"That better daddy?" Devon asked looking up at him.

"A little." Kurt whispered, he didn't have the heart to tell him that he was hurting him more.

"When I feel sick I have medicine. Do you have big people medicine?" Devon asked cuddling up to Kurt.

"Your cuddles are the best medicine." Kurt smiled kissing Devon's hair.

"We can go snuggle?" Devon said gently.

"I'd like that. Come on then." Kurt smiled, he picked Devon up and carried him to the bedroom, he kicked his shoes off and laid down on the bed.

"If you fall asleep I won't play with the cooker." Devon said softly.

"If I fall asleep watch cartoons or something." Kurt smiled closing his eyes.

Devon snuggled close to Kurt watching as his dad fell asleep, he didn't like his daddy sick. He flicked the television on and turned the volume down low, he took Kurt's hand and held it as he watched curious George. Devon wasn't sure just how long it took for his dad to come home with the twins, but he knew he had watched three episodes of curious George and his dad had slept the whole way through it. He gently let go of his hand and crept out of the room not wanting to wake up his dad.

"Dev..." Blaine frowned when he saw his son sneak out of the bedroom.

"Daddy not well." Devon said softly. "He got a sore belly and he's sleeping."

"Okay buddy." Blaine nodded trying not to get too concerned, the past few days Kurt had been feeling a little sick and neither thought much of it. "Have you been taking care of him?" Blaine asked.

"Yes. I held his hand, and we watched Curious George. Well I watched it. He slept." Devon nodded. "But we cuddled. And Daddy said that was the best medicine ever."

"Well that's good. Now, I'm going to go and check on him, if you have a look in one of those bags there might be something for you." Blaine smiled and that was enough for Devon to race off, when he saw the twins sleeping in the push chair he went back to being quiet as he rummaged through the bags.

Blaine walked into the bedroom and frowned when he saw his partner sleeping. "Baby," he breathed as he sat beside him on the bed. He reached over and stroked Kurt's hair, gasping when he felt how hot he was. "Kurt, I need you to wake up for me." Blaine said making his voice a little firmer, glad it worked as Kurt stirred a little. "That's it. Open your eyes, please." Kurt did as Blaine said and frowned.

"Blaine." Kurt said in a whimper as he rubbed his stomach. "Hurts."

"I'm going to call Ashley to watch the kids, you and me are going to the emergency room." Blaine nodded trying not to panic. He really did not like the way Kurt was looking so pale. Kurt nodded and tried to sit up but only ended up wincing loudly. Blaine grabbed his phone and called Ashley pleading for her to come over, she said yes straight away and Blaine could already here her grabbing James to come over.

Blaine picked Kurt up sighing sadly at how placid Kurt was, he had put him in the car just as Ashley was rushing over. "Devon is awake, the twins are napping, probably will for another hour or so."

"It's fine, I've got this. Go and help Kurt," Ashley said gently.

"I'll call when I know something." Blaine said.

"Daddy I wanna come." Devon shouted rushing over to Blaine and hugging his legs.

"I know buddy, but you can come later okay? You gotta help with the twins okay?"

"But Daddy needs my cuddles." Devon sobbed.

"I know baby but you can give Daddy cuddles very soon. You can make daddy a shiny card."

"Kay." Devon sniffled and allowed Ashley to take his hand and lead him away.

Blaine mouthed thank you and rushed to the car and drove Kurt to the hospital not caring about how many speeding tickets he was likely to get. All he cared about right now was Kurt.
