Julia's P.O.V.
"We need to find our way back to the road." I said, looking around.
"Let's split up." Brittany proposed. "We'll find it faster if there are search parties."
"Okay everyone! Line up and we will count us off." Alvin said.
"Why are you in charge?" Lottie asked.
Brittany's face darkened and she pulled Lottie's shirt close to her face. "Because just like you, my sister is in danger of losing her life. But I will do anything it takes to get her back safely or eliminate anyone who tries and stops me." She said darkly. "Capiche?"
Lottie shrunk away. "Yes ma'am."
"Good, now everyone get in line. " Brittany counted us off and we got into our groups.
"Okay, if one of us finds a road, we need a signal." Alvin proposed. It seemed like a good idea, considering it was Alvin who came up with it...
"Who's seen the Hunger Games?" Lizzie asked. We've all raised our paws.
"Lizzie, that was pointless to ask." Brittany said, sweetly. A little too sweetly.
"No, we can use the whistle thing Rue and Katniss use to signal each other". She explained and smirked. Brittany on the other hand...
"Ugh! Fine!" She groaned. "Let's just hurry."
I left with Alvin, Brittany, Lottie and Theodore in one direction and Lucas, Lizzie, Eleanor, and Lannie, went in the other. The other 2 ways were blocked by various trees, branches and bushes.
"Okay… So who here can whistle?" Lizzie asked. Everyone, except me said they couldn't. They all looked at me. I mentally cursed. Who was I kidding I could whistle!
"Okay, okay! I'll signal if we find anything." I assured them. Great, what did I just get into...
We walked around looking for any signs of light or road or anything that could help us and get us closer to civilization. This could take awhile...
Correy's P.O.V.
I woke up snuggled up with Ki. I stretched as much as the tiny cage allowed me to. I looked around the dark cage and tried using my pyrokinetic powers but failed. How had Ryan managed to destroy everything me and my friends and family held dear? And why…? I tried using my crystal focus punch and failed at that too.
"Ki, Ki!" I shouted, while shaking him. "Wake up!"
"What is it…?" He asked, before yawning.
"Ryan took away our powers." I exclaimed, thinking of anything that could help us escape.
Ki sat up instantly. "What? How!?"
"I don't know, but I feel really, really weak." I said, looking around. It was then I realized Simon and Jeanette were gone.
"Oh come on!" I whisper yelled. There was a hole in the wall of the cage. It looked like it had been burned by a laser. Did they make it and escape? But why would they leave us?
"Correy, follow me." Ki said, going towards the hole, or more like, crawling. Did Ryan drug us again…? I feel a little bit dazy...
"Ki... I don't know, is it safe?"
"I guess we'll find out." He stood at the entrance.
"Ki, no!"
Suddenly, we've heard footsteps. "Wakey-wakey rats." It was Ryan!
"Ryan..." Ki whispered and started pushing me towards the hole.
"Ki stop it... I don't...Ki, quit pushing..." I stuttered as we got closer to the wall. The door to the actual room swung open revealing Ryan.
"Push me!" I said, frozen with fear. He managed to do so and we both went through the hole.
I put my hands around Ki's neck and closed my eyes incase it was a free fall down into the very bottom of the house. It wasn't. It was some kind of secret tunnel. I unwrapped my hands from around his neck, and followed the glowing blue light we saw at the end of the tunnel.
Above us, we heard Ryan's evil sounding laugh. "So they decided to run. Well then, I'll smoke them out. They can't turn back so I'll be waiting on the other side." He said, barely audible. We watched as a lit match fell down the hole we came from, setting everything on fire.
"Ki!" I screamed. The ceiling above me was crumbling and a big piece fell down.
"Correy, look out!" A girl's voice yelled out.
Jeanette came running at me and pushed me out of the way just as the slab of the wall hit the ground where I was standing.
"Jeanette!" I screamed so happy to see my best friend. "Wait...Jean, if you and me are over here...then Simon and Ki are on the other side of this flaming slab of the wall!"It took a moment for it to sink in, then we realized me and Jeanette were trapped. And our counterparts were on the other side!
Alvin's P.O.V.
Me, Julia, Brittany, Lottie ,and Theodore walked into a thinner part of the forest.
"Let's try up in the trees." The green clad proposed. "We can see more from aerial point of view." That was a great idea!
"Awesome!" I said. "These trees over here are pretty tall. Let's climb these." And we did so, it didn't take long for us to find something.
"Hey...I see something." Called Lottie. She pointed to a big yellow and orange building which looked abandoned. "There's a road down there too."
Julia shushed us all and whistled like Rue and Katniss. Soon the others joined us in the tree. "Oh my gosh, that building is on fire!" We all noticed the tiny flames slowly submerging the whole building. We've ran across the tree tops and then we have heard 4 little screams.
"KI!"
"CORREY!"
"JEANETTE!"
"SIMON!"
The voiced came from the burning building. We instantly climbed down the tree and hurried in that direction.
