Chapter 11: 14th Birthday part 2

Sam's pov.

Have you ever had that feeling of regret in your stomach as you're about to do something so risky you think your life was on the line?

That's exactly how I felt as I went upstairs to Danny's room.

As I made it to his door I hesitated to knock.

'Why am I so nervous? I've never acted this way before. Was it because I knew what he was? Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe I was mistaken as to what I did (saw?) . Yeah that's it. I was just mistaken and nothing more'

I was still at his door as I tried to walk away but then by my surprise Danny came out and blinked in confusion to me being there.

"Sam?" He said raising an eyebrow then smiled "Glad you came" He seemed to be suppressing something. Maybe something bad happened. I don't know.

I forced a smile on my face "Oh…Um, hey Danny. Happy Birthday" I said. I was glad he didn't notice how nervous I was as the smile grew on his face.

I stood there stiff as a board as everything felt silent between us.

"Are you okay?" Danny finally asked. I then noticed I was blocking his way out of his room.

"Huh? Oh I'm so sorry" I said quickly moving. "Yeah I'm fine" I tensed as I saw Danny getting suspicious but he –to my relief- shrugged it off and was about to head downstairs.

But for some reason my body reacted on its own. I grabbed Danny and pulled him into his room then shut the door.

"Wha! Hey! Sam what's the big idea?" He said a bit annoyed by what I did. I was at a loss for words as I stood there blocking the door.

He got up as he had fallen down because of me.

"Sam?...What's gotten into you? I have to go downstairs"

"N-not until you answer one question!" I said out of the blow as I felt like running but was frozen in place.

"Answer something?...What would that be?" He stated crossing his arms over his chest. He looked a bit annoyed.

A long pause between us lingered as his eyes did not leave contact with mine. Looking at them was almost hypnotizing; it was almost like looking at toxin.
Or better yet ectoplasm.

It was almost scary just too even breathe now.

"Well?" Danny brought me back into reality as I blinked seeing him grow more irritated.

'This was definitely no way to stay on someone's good side. Though why do I still want to be. Shouldn't I be afraid or threatened?'
I gulped.

"…..Are you a ghost" I said almost in a hush tone that was barely heard, but he seemed to hear me loud and clear.

He took a step back from me as his eyes were widen in fear towards me.

'Why is he afraid of me?' I thought to myself as I was confused now by his change in attitude.

"Wh-why do you ask?" he said almost as if it hurt.

"Because…..I saw you fly yesterday" I said eying his actions. I wasn't positive, but he looked like he would take off any second now if I didn't do something.
I saw him take another step back.

"So….is it true?" I said timidly.

He said nothing as he looked like he was putting up his guard thinking I was going to attack.

Danny's pov.

SHE KNOWS! This is not good, this is REALLY not good.

When I first meet Sam she seemed really cool, and I really felt like she would be my friend. But she knows what I am. Could I really take that risk of letting her know?

I saw her eying me as if studying me. I felt uneasy.

'Maybe if I fly- no wait that's dumb! Then it would be obvious that I was a ghost. Maybe I can trick her. YEAH! Make her think she was imagining things'
Thinking of this I was about to swallow my fear and do just that.

"I won't tell anyone. I promise" I blinked in confusion by this as I looked at Sam seeing nothing but honesty in her eyes"

"You won't?" I finally said something as I saw she nodded. This got me wondering. "Why not?"

"Because…. You're different. Though I never seen another ghost before. Your different from the ones that I've read about or seen on tv" She said to me as I looked into her eyes seeing the truth.

I smiled in relief as I saw her relax. I must have scared her or something.

Everything went quiet again as this was now becoming a habit I swear.

"Sam….. Let's talk more after the party okay?" I tried to lighten the mood. It seemed to work a little but not much.

"Alright….that sounds good" She said before following me out. This felt pretty good, like I was relieved to finally let her know.

Ember's pov.

"HE IS SUCH A LITTLE BRAT! I HOPE HE DIES AGAIN FOR ALL I CARE!" I said blasting at some boulders that were soon turned to rubble because of me.

"This was ridicules, he had no right to yell at me or, or just be such a self-absorbed little- GAH!" I blasted another one as Kitty nearby with Johnny now pulling up.

"Still having a tantrum?" I heard Johnny say to Kitty as I turned to him and glared.

"I AM NOT HAVING A TANTRUM!" I said as my eyes flashed darkly at him.

Both of them flinched even though I had no intention to hurt Kitty.

"Whoa girl, calm down. It really can't be that bad" Kitty said trying to calm me down.

"Not that bad?! How would you know? You weren't there! He treated me like I was the enemy. Grrrr when I see him again I will knock him to kingdom come!" I punched at the air a bit.

"Depends if you can find him….I went to the tower and he wasn't there" Johnny said I rolled my eyes a bit.

"Of course not…This is what I'm talking about. He doesn't talk to us anymore and it seems he's more focused on those humans" I said so irritated.
"Was there a reason why?" Johnny said raising an eyebrow.

I gritted my teeth, 'It was because of that stupid family he so called found' I thought but I didn't say it to them. I then smirked a bit and looked at them.
"Because he's being held hostage"

"WHAT?!" Johnny and Kitty said in shock. I know it was wrong to say this but the only way to really get it through that Boy's head was to teach him a lesson.
"We have to save him!" Kitty said worried.

"I don't care, he can stay there for all I care" I said looking away crossing my arms hiding the smirk I had.

"Come on Em! He's our friend, one fight can't really just make you hate him" Johnny said as I could tell he was getting angry at me.

I pretended to look sad "You're right…..We do need to save him… get him as far away as possible from those humans as possible"

Kitty and Johnny fell for my act.

"Alright…Let's go get him" I said as we then headed to the portal.

Maddie pov.

I set the table as I saw Danny and Sam come into the room with Tucker, I saw them sit and smiled softly at this, it was cute.

"Alright! Time for cake!" Jack said, I sighed.

"Not yet dear, first we need to eat 'real' food, not just dessert" I said seeing him a bit disappointed, I just chuckled and started handing out the food to everyone.

"Um…Mrs. Fenton?...I don't eat meat" I blinked as Sam said this.

"Oh I'm sorry dear, I didn't realize…would you rather have a salad" I didn't know what to do in this situation.

"That would be fine" She said giving a small smile. I mentally sighed in relief as I didn't want to insult her. I then grabbed the plate I had given her then gave it to Danny as I was going to give the next plate to him. After I served everyone else I went and got Sam a salad.

"Thanks" Sam said. I smiled and welcomed her along with everyone else, before I sat down.

After we ate I finally gave in to my husband's begging and got out the cake for everyone. I smiled softly as the big smile Danny gave, it brought back memories of when I did this….before he…. I shook the thought away, he was here now and that was all that counted.

Setting down the cake on the table, I let Jack light the candles.

"Okay make a wish" He said to his son. I chuckled lightly at Danny seeing him a bit embarrassed by us. But giving the fact we haven't seen him in so long, he's going to have us doing this whether he likes it or not.

Jazz took a picture of Danny blowing out the candles as everyone clapped.

"What did you wish for?" Tucker said as Danny sat down again.

I saw him about to tell before Jazz stepped in.

"No you don't, you're not supposed to reveal what you wished for Danny! It won't come true then" She said sternly. I chuckled unheard as Jazz was being her usual self, acting like a parent.

"Okay, okay" Danny said annoyed as Sam and Tucker snickered a bit.

Jazz started to talk about the fundamentals of making a wish making Danny, Sam, and Tucker bored almost instantly.

"Jazz, how about you help me get Danny's present" I said trying to save them.

"Oh…Alright" She then followed me. I looked back a bit to see Danny mouthing to me 'Thank you' I smiled and nodded before going down stairs.

Tucker's pov.

After watching Danny's mom leave I looked over at Danny and Sam. They were hiding something and I had to know.

"Okay…What's with you two? You're acting like you're hiding something form me" I said as they both flinched.
Knew it.

"Um…nothing, we're not hiding anything" Danny forced a smile.

"He's right, and even if we did we wouldn't tell you" Sam said coldly to me, I glared as she did it in return.

I then shrugged it off as we all ate in silence. After we finished I notice how Mr. and Mrs. Fenton were getting excited as they brought something up but distracted Danny so he wouldn't see. It was a bit weird seeing as they were acting like he was a little kid.

You could tell he was a bit annoyed but glad at the same time. It was actually a little funny. I noticed Sam was being cautions about the whole thing.
'What was she hiding?' I thought glaring a bit.

"Come on you three" Mrs. Fenton said excitedly as she motions us to come.

'Man We have to wait for Cake' I pouted a bit at this. but then saw what was in the living room. You just knew it had to be good as there was this huge gift laid out for Danny.

The dude had some REALLY loving parents.

Watching Danny open the gift it was a snow board.

Now that's awesome. Weird seeing as Winters been long past. But still it was awesome.

Danny looked a bit confused and excited by the gift.

"Hope you like it sweetie" Mrs. Fenton stated.

"Thanks you guys" Danny said hugging them.

I may not have known the guy long, but still. It was pretty heart felt seeing this... Ugh, we need some action going on here.

I mean don't get me wrong and all, but I'm not into the sappy scenes.

Looking around I saw Danny freeze in place as he looked like something horrible was about to happen.

"Um... Danny? You alright?" I asked placing a hand on his shoulder.

"Ye-yeah. I'm fine..." He stated nervously.

Something was up.

Before I could say anything else, the room seemed to get colder. The Fentons looked like they were on guard and by the looks of things, Sam was just as confused.

"So this is what you've been up to?" An unknown voice said making me freeze in place along with everyone else.

'Can we get back to the sappy scene?' I gulped.
