Beetles and Blood
"Sabrina, you're stirring it the wrong way," Ignatius gently told her.
Sabrina couldn't understand how infinitely patient the ginger was with her. She botched up nearly every potion they've made together, having to start over and over again.
"Does it really matter? It's just stirring," she mumbled, moodily.
Her mood had soured quite a bit after her little chat with Alphard. The brute caused her to miss lunch. Thinking about lunch, Sabrina suddenly had a craving for a jar of Nutella. It was times like these that she missed her original timeline.
'Has Nutella been invented yet? I should go to the kitchens later and ask for some.'
"It does matter actually. If you stir it one more time clockwise, it will explode. So I suggest you start stirring the other way."
She let out a frustrated sigh and said, "Here, just take it. I'll start slicing the beetles."
Ignatius nodded his head and took the ladle from her, and she grabbed a knife and began slicing.
The two of them worked noiselessly, only speaking when they needed to. Normally they were quite chatty, but it just happened to be one of those gloomy days when no one wanted to talk. Even Everett and her posse had refrained from poking fun at her. The air in the dungeons was danker than usual and the lighting was also a great deal dimmer. It was raining outside, raining hard. You could practically feel the gallons of rain pouring down the castle. There was no thunder or lightning splitting open the sky, only rain; which made it a bit more menacing to Sabrina.
Speaking of menacing, Tom was staring daggers at the back of her head and she could feel it. Feel it with such clarity that it almost seemed surreal. She wanted to say that she was just being paranoid-which she was-but she knew that Tom was beginning to question her existence. Not that he hadn't before, he's openly and vehemently spit it to her face at some point.
But she didn't mean it in that context. She knows that Tom is suspicious of her, he knew she was not merely a transfer student.
She turned her head around to meet a pair of dark blue eyes. His angelic face was devoid of any emotion, but his eyes had a dangerous edge in them.
He held her gaze with such a ferocious intensity, boring into the depths of her brain, past her skull. Her eyes were beginning to water as she did her best to win their private staring match.
"-Oi! Sabrina! Yoo-hoo! Sabrina! You're bleeding all over the beetles!"
Her head spun around too quickly to face Ignatius, grateful for an excuse to look away.
"Whaaa?" She muttered, disoriented.
"You're bleeding. You cut yourself."
The ginger haired boy looked at her with concern, motioning to the shallow cut on her pointer finger.
"Oh," she said dumbly. "Ouch."
Three...two...one.
'Holy hell, I'm bleeding.'
"Ah shit."
As she suddenly registered the blood dripping out of her finger, she fainted.
