Clare sat in the library, writing a paper for her journalist class. She found it hard to get any work done in the dorms, her roommate was always on the phone gossiping with her friends, or her talking with her boyfriend. She didn't want to be a downer, but she found doing her homework distracting. One less minute of the day she wasn't thinking about Eli, and his indiscretion that she had witness. One less minute she wondered what he was doing. As much as she hated him, that didn't change the fact she wasn't over him.
"Clare, concentrate," she mumbled to herself.
This year she would put her studies first. She would become the Clare from her early years at Degrassi. That Clare didn't get distracted, she got her work done. She could worry about having fun after she University was over, when she was working her dream job.
Her cell rang, indicated that she had a text message. She glanced at it, it was from Ali. "Clare why haven't I heard from you since you arrived in Vancouver?" She had avoided talking to her. Alli was happy in love with Dallas, and she was alone. It made her sad to know that Alli had everything that she had dreamed about last year. Not that Alli didn't deserve any of it, it just hurt knowing that could have been her too.
She couldn't avoid her forever, she knew Alli could be very persistent. "Sorry Alli, been adjusting to the change. It's not the same here without you. I've never felt so alone in my life."
It rang back "Come home."
"I can't. There's just too many memories. I need this fresh start away from all the memories. Miss You!"
"Miss you too! We need a Skype date soon."
She smiled. She knew no matter what Alli always had her back. "Definitely :)"
Clare had been here for over a month, and slowly things were getting better. She slowly getting to know her away campus, and even met a friend in one of her Literature classes. She walked into the campus café, to grab some coffee. She would need it to study for her mid-terms.
KC was working at the café, he was too busy working making coffee to notice who had walked into the café that day. He turned, and placed the coffee at the counter, "Medium Vanilla Latte."
Clare went to grab her coffee, when she looked right in front of her. She was in shock, not that she should be shocked since he had mentioned about going to UBC, but she never thought of that when she moved here. "KC."
KC looked up at the sound of her voice, "Clare. What are you doing here?"
"I go here now. Well I guess I'll be seeing you around." She walked away, with a slight smile on her face.
KC smiled. He was right, he had seen her a while back, but he had a lot of questions. First off why was she here, and not New York? Questions that would have to wait till later.
"Alli, I saw KC today."
"I assumed that you knew he was going to UBC."
"I did. But I guess I forgot with all that happened with Eli."
"How is he?"
"I don't know, didn't really chat. he was working."
"Maybe this is a good thing, having a familiar face from home."
"The last thing I need is a distraction."
"Clare, I'm not say hook up with him. It could be nice to have your friend KC back. Before you dated, you were good friends."
"Your right. Has anyone heard from Eli?"
"No. You got to stop doing this to yourself. Eli's a jerk, he cheated. What he did is no ones fault but his own. You've got to let it go. You deserve someone better than him."
"I know your right. Thanks Alli. You're the best!"
"Why so quiet tonight?" KC's mom asked.
"Oh no reason," looking back down at his dinner.
"Liar. Spill it to your old mom."
"I saw an old friend from Toronto today. I just realized how much I missed her and our friendship."
"So who's the girl?"
"Clare," he smiled. "We dated before Jenna and I, before you came back."
"Why did you stop?"
"I got confused about my feelings when Jenna came around, and then things with the coach were happening. I never felt good enough for her."
"Well maybe her being here is your second chance."
"I doubt that, she's got a boyfriend."
"Well maybe it would be nice to have friend back," she smiled.
