"I'm gonna go get the car," Soul said taking his hand off Maka's belly.
"Alright."
"Can you make it over there," Soul pointed to the pick up zone in the parking lot, "by yourself?"
"Of course I can, I'm not that immobile."
Soul gave Maka a 'really?' sort of look.
"I can do it!"
"Alright, alright," he said backing away slowly. "I'll be parked over there when you get there."
Maka gave him a serious glare. Soul quickly ran away to his car laughing.
Maka sighed to herself and continued walking toward the parking lot when Miiko from some of her classes started talking to her.
"So," Miiko said as she walked out from behind a big tree. "How was it?"
"How was what?" Maka asked trying to keep walking, but Miiko blocked her.
"You know what! How did Soul perform?"
Maka shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what Miiko meant.
"The sex that created that thing." Miiko pointed to Maka's very round belly. Maka looked at the ground and said nothing. "Are you scared? Are you ashamed of what you did?"
Maka stood still.
"You should be." Miiko glared down at Maka. "There are so many girls in this school that would love to even have the chance to go out with Soul on a date. But, he chose you, the one person that would end up hurting him and forcing him to grow up so you can have help with that thing, or those things. I don't know, are you having a litter?"
Maka began weeping.
"One day he's going to realize he's too good for you, then where will you be?"
Little drops of water rolled off of Maka's face.
"I'll tell you, Maka," she said in a crackly voice.
Maka lifted her head to look into Miiko's dark eyes.
"You, Maka Albarn, will be hopeless without Soul. The scenarios are: One, you'll kill yourself. Two, you'll end up living in or under a box. Or Three, you'll just move on to another guy and another after that one, by the time you're 30 you'll have 15 kids. Maka, you're just a sad little whore." Miiko paused for moment to let her words sink in to Maka's head. "You should leave him now before you hurt him even more later."
Soul walked up behind Maka with a pissed-off look on his face. Eita, Miiko's boyfriend also showed himself.
"Hey, what are we all talking about?" Eita asked with a fake smile plastered on his face.
"Oh nothing baby, Maka and I were just talking about the play this weekend," Miiko said also with a fake smile on. "Right, Maka?"
Maka quickly wiped away her tears. "Yep."
"Well good. It was nice seeing you again, Soul," Eita said with a wicked smile.
Soul gave Eita a dirty glare. Miiko and Eita then walked away without another word.
Soul turned around to face Maka. He took her arms in his hands.
"Are you alright? What did she say to you? Are you okay? Did Eita do something to you? Are you alright?" Soul asked frantically.
"I'm fine, Soul," Maka cried.
"You're not fine! They obviously did or said something to you to make you cry!"
"I wasn't crying!"
"Then why are your eyes puffy and red?!" Soul shouted.
"I don't know!"
"I think you do!"
"Okay!" Maka calmed her voice. "Can we just go home first?"
"Okay."
Soul threw the keys to their car and their apartment onto a miniature table.
"I'm sorry that your mad, but-"
"I'm not mad at you," Soul said. "I just don't understand."
"What don't you understand?"
"Why can't you talk to me?"
"I'm talking to you now!"
"You don't tell me when you're hurting or angry! You keep it in!"
"I don't mean to!"
"You must mean to because you keep doing it."
"You wanna know what Miiko said to me!?"
"Yes!"
"Fine! Miiko said 'Are you ashamed of what you did? You should be. He chose you, the one person that would end up hurting him and forcing him to grow up so you can have help with that thing, or those things. I don't know, are you having a litter? One day he's going to realize he's too good for you, then where will you be? I'll tell you, Maka. You will be hopeless without Soul. You'll either kill yourself, end up living in or under a box, or just move on to another guy and another after that one, by the time you're 30 you'll have 15 kids. Maka, you're just a sad little whore.' That's what she said to me, Soul. Are you happy now?"
Maka decided not to tell Soul the last thing Miiko said to her because she knew it wouldn't help the fight they were having whatsoever.
"Maka, none of that stuff she said to you was true. You know that!"
Maka began to cry.
Soul sighed. He grabbed Maka and wrapped his arms around her, at least as much as he could; at this point she was pretty big.
"Look at me."
Maka looked up into Soul's blood red eyes. His eyes were so comforting to her, especially now.
"Maka, there will always be things like this that will stand in your way or my way or our way, but we'll get through it as long as we're together."
"Soul, you don't need to try to be a gooey romantic. That's not you, and it isn't who I fell in love with either."
"Alright."
Soul kissed Maka on the forehead and began swaying her back and forth like he did a few weeks before.
"I'm due in less than three months. Maybe we should start talking about names."
Soul stopped moving and looked into Maka's big, green eyes.
"Are you sure? That seems too close to be true. Three months?" Soul removed his arms from Maka and started freaking out.
"Soul, it's okay. Calm down."
"Maka, I love you and the babies, but I don't know if I'm going to be ready to be a dad in three months."
"I don't think I will be either, but that's why we can get ready gradually together."
Maka took Soul's hands in her own and smiled at him.
Minutes later
"I have a deal for you," Maka said.
"What's the deal?"
"First, would you rather name the girl or the boy?"
Soul thought for what felt like two hours, but was really only a few minutes and then said, "the girl."
"Okay, the deal is I name the baby boy and you'll name the baby girl."
"Why?"
"I want you to name one of them."
"Well, if that's the case. . .I think Saka Kazumi Albarn is a cute name for our baby girl."
Maka smiled. "I love it! Saka. Except for one thing."
"What's that?"
"I think Saka Kazumi Evans is a better name for her."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I think our babies deserve their daddy's last name."
"Aw, that's so sweet, I think I'm gonna cry." Soul rubbed his eyes with his fingers and laughed.
"Oh come on."
"Okay, okay, so what did you come up with for our boy?"
"Sasuke Dean Evans. What do ya think? Can you imagine calling your boy Sasuke or yelling it if he's a trouble maker like his father."
"It's good enough for me."
"Saka and Sasuke; our kids."
"We've decided to name them Saka and Sasuke," Soul said to the group.
"Wonderful names," Kid said.
"CUTE!" Patti screamed.
"CUTEST CUTIE!" Liz screamed.
"MY LITTL MAKA IS HAVING THE CUTEST BABIES ALIVE WITH THE CUTEST NAMES IN THE WORLD!" Spirit yelled.
"Perfect names, Maka," Tsubaki said.
"Hey, I helped too," Soul said. "I came up with the name Saka Kazumi."
"Really?" Black Star asked.
"Yes, I took Kid's advice and named one of my kids."
"Good for you."
Soul glanced over at Maka and the girls for just a second, but in that moment seconds went by like hours and time seemed to slow. Soul watched over her like she was newly discovered gold, but that was okay because it just made him realize for the first time that he was ready. He was ready for whatever came his way, as long as he had Maka. And he was finally ready to be with Maka forever. Soon, he would be proposing marriage to Maka.
