"Maka, I need you to stay here until you have the babies," Soul said, rubbing Maka's head.

"What? Why? I'm perfectly fine."

"That's not what Stein thinks. He said something about bed rest."

"I don't understand."

They both heard the door shut and turned their heads to see.

"Let me explain then." It was Stein. "Your body is nearing labor and it's getting tired, worn out. If you were to get up and walk around for longer than a day, at best, it could harm both you and the twins."

". . .But, I can't just sit here and wait."

"Look Maka, you only have three weeks to go, plus I'm going to come here everyday to be with you," Soul said with a smile.

"No, you aren't. You are going to go to school, study hard, and go to prom for me." Maka said with a sturdy smile.

"I couldn't go to the prom without you."

"I'm not saying you have to have a kid with another girl and then take her, just go and have a good time. Be one of the weirdos standing under the disco ball dancing like there's no tomorrow. For me, will you?"

"I'll try, but I'll feel like a third wheel if I hang out with any of our friends."

"So what? When did being the third wheel become such a horrible thing?"

"Since forever," Soul said. "That sounded pretty lame."

"A little." Maka giggled at him. She opened her arms and pulled him into an embrace. "You should go though, it's almost 8'o clock in the morning."

"Alright." Soul kissed her on the forehead, the cheek, and finally the lips before leaving for DWMA.

Maka was closing her eyes just as Stein knocked on the door and let himself in.

"Stein! You scared me!"

"I'm afraid we've got worse things to worry about."

"What?"

"Maka, I don't want you to worry. I have to get to the school, but there's something we'll need to discuss when I get back."

"Tell me now! You can't just tell someone not to worry about something that you'll tell me later!" Maka yelled.

"Okay, stop that. Yelling and getting worried and being stressed will only cause more stress on the baby."

"I understand, but please just tell me. I'm tired of everyone keeping stuff from me."

"The twins are both weapons."

"How could that be? I know Soul is a weapon, but I'm a meister. Wouldn't at least one of them be a meister?"

"Well, there is a possibility that one of them may be able to be a meister."

"How so?"

"Well, being a weapon is basically in Soul's DNA, literally. But, if he had a parent that was a meister he could've chosen whether he wanted to be a meister or a weapon. And in other cases the kid may be more," Stein paused for a moment to think of a word. "Comfortable transforming or handling the weapon. It just depends."

"Okay, I understand, but why did you think I would worry about this?" Maka gave Stein a weird look. "I mean, it's not like I wouldn't love them for that. But, I have a feeling that's not what you thought I would worry about, is it?"

"No. Maka, it's very unusual for a meister to have a weapon child."

"Mama did."

"Yes, Kami was an indifferent case."

"What do you mean?"

"Maka, the reason the rule that meisters and weapons can't be together is because when and if the meister gets pregnant there will be some irregularities."

"Stop using such big words, I can hardly understand what your saying."

"But, you seem to have gotten Soul's black blood into your system somehow, which has complicated things even more than it usually would."

"Okay? Where are you going with this Stein?"

"Maka. . .Kami was one in few of the meisters that had a weapon child that survived."

"What are you talking about? I'm not a weapon, well I'm like one-third weapon, right?"

"Yes, but as a baby, in the womb, you can't really control your transforming abilities. See, woman weapon's body is secure for when a baby weapon may transform, a meister's body is not. So, you as a meister, having not one, but two eligible weapons is very dangerous. They could transform at any minute, but they will most likely transform as they're being born. Maka. . .you may very well die after this is all done."

"Oh, I see." Maka tried not to think of it, every time she did she had to hold herself back from crying.

"I know this is hard to absorb, but I don't believe telling anyone, even Soul, would be a smart option."

"How can I not tell Soul, Stein?"

"If I do die and he knew that I didn't tell him he would find a way to bring me back and kill me again!"

"It's for his own good, Maka."

"I don't feel right about all this."

"You probably never will. I should probably go now, but if you need me just press this button," Stein picked up a button that was attached to the bed Maka was laying in and laid it on the nightstand. With that he left with out another word, not even a goodbye.

"I could die, at any time between now and a month from now because of my babies? . . .Soul. . ." Maka cried.

She wrapped herself up in fetal position and cried herself to sleep.

Life really sucks.
