Chapter 2
As the professor and Chloe arrived in the foyer of the mansion they immediately saw the young woman standing there next to Kitty who had a shocked expression on her face. Charles tried to reach out with his mind to find out who this girl was and found himself feeling like he was hitting a brick wall. The girl herself looked like she was around five foot six with long wavy red hair. She was wearing a pair of black leather trousers with a black leather jacket as well as what looked like a type of combat boots.
Lara sensed the Professors attempt to get inside her mind but knew her mental defences were way beyond anything he could break through. Turning her head towards the man in the wheelchair she give him a smile. "Hi professor." She said with a little wave much to the confusion of the man. However before anyone could say anything else Logan appeared.
"Chuck, what's going on?" He asked as he arrived seeing the group looking shocked.
"Perhaps you should ask our new friend." Charles responded as he nodded in Lara's direction.
Lara ignored the look that Logan was giving her as he checked her out. She knew enough about the man to know that he was very distrustful of strangers. Turning her head towards where she sent the Persuader she let out a sigh as her hearing picked up the fact that he was beginning to wake. "Excuse me a moment." She simply said before bending down and picking up the axe. Then in a blur she was gone before reappearing next to the Persuader.
Kneeling down next to the Persuader she heard him groan slightly as the world started coming back to him. Reaching down towards his left hand she grabbed hold of the Legion ring he'd stolen and took it from him. "Have a nice trip home, bub." Was all she said before he was engulfed in a purple light before disappearing. Standing back up she turned around and saw that the X-Men were in the corridor looking at her again in shock. "Relax, he's not dead. I just sent him back home." She stated as she walked back towards the group.
"Listen kid. Do you mind telling us who the hell you are and what's going on?" Logan asked although the sent his nose was picking up made him glance at Clark a few times. There was a part of her scent that was similar to Clark. However there was another part that was similar to Jean's.
"The name's Lara." She answered before glancing over at Clark who was looking at her strangely. "Yeah, I have similar powers to you." She then said knowing that her father would be curious.
Clark looked at Lara and was now very curious. There was something oddly familiar about the young woman. "What's going on?" He asked cautiously. "And who was that guy."
"Oh, him." Lara responded gesturing to where the Persuader was a minute ago. "He calls himself the Persuader. He's part of a human supremacy movement. And he pretty much hates you."
"And what about you?" Logan asked before Clark could say anything. Although he was curious as to why this 'Persuader' hated Clark.
"Already told you, the Name's Lara." She answered flatly.
"I believe Logan is referring to where you came from and why you are here." The Professor stated.
"Let's just say I'm not from around here." Lara answered as she turned her attention towards the Professor. "As to why I'm here. I was sent to protect Clark and Jean."
"What do you mean?" Clark asked.
Lara let out a deep sigh before glancing towards the Professor. "Professor, can I speak with you, Clark and Logan alone? Jean if she's around as well."
Charles had to admit that he was now very curious about this young woman and for some reason knew that she wasn't a threat. "Clark, Logan. Will the two of you and our guest join me in my office." He said aloud before sending a message to Jean who was only a few minutes away from the mansion.
Both Clark and Logan looked at the Professor for a few seconds before nodding their heads. Taking that as an agreement Charles turned his focus back to the other students. "If you'll all excuse us. We have some things to discuss." With that the Professor, Clark, Logan and Lara made their way to the Professor's office.
"Man, what the hell is going on?" Evan asked the moment that they were out of sight.
"I don't know." Chloe answered but had to admit that she was very curious.

Jean was just about to enter the mansion gates when she heard the professor in her mind asking her where she was. There was an urgency in his 'voice' that worried her so she got to the mansion as quickly as possible. As soon as she got in through the door she saw Kitty, Rogue, Kurt, Evan along with Chloe standing in the foyer looking rather shaken and confused. "Hey guys, what's going on?" She asked.
The five other teens turned towards Jean. "Ve've had and interesting evening." Kurt said to which the others could only nod in response before Chloe spoke.
"Some axe wielding psycho turned up and then some red head showed up and kicked his ass. Now they're in the professors office." The blond stated.
"Oh." Was all that Jean could say since everyone seemed to be alright. "The Professor called me and told me to go straight to his office."
The five teens shrugged at that, still quite shocked as to what was going on. "Still haven't got a clue about what's going on." Evan said.

"So kid, do you mind telling us what's going on?" Logan asked as he Clark, Charles and Lara entered the Professors office.
"It's complicated and we should wait for Jean." Lara answered before turning to look at Clark who was looking at her with curiosity. "I know you got questions."
Clark nodded his head at that before responding. "Your abilities are similar to mine."
Lara smiled at that. "Yeah, but I can fly and you cant." She answered back with a smile loving the fact that she can rub a little salt in that wound. Her father often told her about that when he was teaching her to control her own abilities growing up. "Still floating in your sleep?"
"How did you know that?" Clark asked now completely shocked again.
"I know a lot of things." Lara answered again with a smile on her face. "I'll explain more when Jean gets here, which should only be about a minute or so."
Just as Lara said there was a nock on the professor's door less than a minute later. "Come in Jean." The Professor said to which Jean opened the door and walked into the office.
"Professor, what's going on?" Jean asked before looking at the other red head who looked strangely familiar. "Who are you?" She then asked.
"Jean this is Lara." The Professor stated before turning his attention back to the girl in question. "Now Lara, if you will explain who you are and why your here?"
Now that Jean had arrived Lara nodded her head before turning all her attention back towards the professor. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out the ring that she'd taken from the Persuader and handed it to Charles. "Have you seen one of these before?" She asked as the Professor reached out and took the ring.
Charles looked at the ring and went white as he instantly recognised it as it was identical to the one that he had in his possession. Logan, Clark and Jean instantly saw the look of recognition on the Professor's face. "What's going on Chuck?" Logan asked knowing that look on Charles's face.
It took a few seconds for the Professor to come back to his senses before he looked at Lara again. "Your from the future. Your a member of the Legion." He stated and the young girl nodded her head confirming his words.
"You wanna run that by me again?" Logan asked while Clark and Jean just stood there in shock.

"Hey guys, Clark and Chloe left yet?" Scott asked as he walked into the kitchen only to come to a stop at the sight of the other teens who were looking rather shaken. "What's wrong?"
The group of teens all looked between each other before Chloe decided to be the one to speak. "We kinda had a few visitors earlier. You might wanna sit down."
Scott looked at Chloe for a few seconds before nodding his head. Taking a seat at the end of the table he looked at the blond. "Ok, so what's up?"
Chloe started to explain to Scott what had happened a short while ago. Scott himself sat there in confusion as Chloe told him about this axe wielding psycho that had shown up before some red headed teenage did before knocking him out and sending him somewhere.
Scott listed to the story and became even more confused when he was told that this 'girl' stated that she'd been sent to protect Clark and Jean. "So where are they now?"
"They're in the Professor's office." Kitty piped in still a little shaken by the events that had taken place.
"I think I'm going to go and check in with the Professor." Scott stated before standing back up. The rest of the teens looked between each other before deciding to follow.

Clark, Jean and Logan sat there in the Professor's office and listened as he told the story of how he had almost been killed many years earlier by someone from the future. He explained that someone had come back in time to assassinate him before he could form the X-Men and that two individuals also came back in time to protect him. The Professor didn't give away all that he knew as he was unsure on how he was supposed to tell Clark and Jean that it was them that had saved him.
Clark for his part was now even more confused as the Professor had already told him this story before. "Professor, you already told me this. But you said that it was someone related to me." By related Clark meant another Kryptonian and both he and Charles knew it.
"Wait, you knew about this?" Jean asked with surprise in her voice while receiving a questioning look from Logan.
Clark shook his head at that. "I didn't know about the whole time travel thing." He admitted before continuing. "But the Professor told me that he'd met someone from my family before."
Charles didn't know how to respond to that and Lara could see that he wasn't sure what to say. "It's ok Professor, you can tell them." She said to which she got a questioning look from the man. "Part of the reason I was sent back was to make sure that the future plays out the way that it needs to. You can tell them."
"Tell us what?" Logan, Clark and Jean asked at the same time.
Again the Professor just looked at her unsure on how to proceed. "Oh for the love of Rao." Lara muttered under he breath before turning her attention to Clark and Jean. "Clark, Jean to cut a long story short. I'm your daughter."
If the world suddenly opened up and swallowed Clark and Jean, neither would have noticed as a state of complete and utter shock set in. Even Logan looked like he might pass out and he was very used to weird things happening.

Back at the Kent farm, the large silver arrow shaped object that was hidden in the storm cellar came to life. It was the ship that had brought baby Kal-El to Earth. Since the young Kryptonian had put the control crystal back in, the consciousness of Jor-El had been watching his son. Even though his son was hundreds of miles away, the ships sensors still kept track of him. The onboard AI though was now suddenly curious as it's sensors detected a rip in the fabric of time.
It's advanced sensors could also detect the emergence of a mutated gene that was forming in the human species. A new race was beginning to form. This realisation caused the AI to rapidly rethink it's strategy in regards to Kal-El. Without proper training these 'Mutants' could possibly pose a threat to the last son of Krypton. Bringing the ships engines online the silver arrow shaped object shot out of the barn and into the sky.
Both Jonathan and Martha Kent heard the ship as it powered up and ran out to see what was going on. Just as the storm cellar came into view they saw thier son's ship fly our shooting straight up into the sky.
"Jonathan." Was all Martha could say with worry etched in her voice.
Jonathan looked at his wife in equal shock. "I know Martha." Was the only thing he could say.

"Look if what your saying is true and your from a thousand years in the future, how can you be our daughter?" Jean asked with confusion again in her voice while glancing at Clark who looked equally confused. Lara had just explained to them about how one of their own had been corrupted and sent back in time to kill the professor while he was still in college while she had been sent to protect them and set them on the path to their future. To say that Clark and Jean were shocked would have been an understatement.
Scott had also tried to come into the office to check everything was alright had been quickly dismissed, however they all knew that he'd seen the look of shock and confusion on everyone's face. However that was a matter for another time.
Dropping all pretences of not knowing Clark and Jean, Lara turned to her mother. "Mom, you and dad are pretty much immortal. Neither of you have aged since you were in your mid twenties."
Clark for his part despite the shock he was in had another question as he stood up. "How? How can you possibly be my daughter? If what your saying is true then you know that it shouldn't be possible."
That statement got both Jean and Logan's attention and they were both very curious as to what he meant. As for the Professor he knew exactly what Clark was referring to. Clark may look human, but he wasn't. As for Lara she too understood what he father was talking about. "At the moment it's not possible." Lara stated as she looked into her father's eyes. She knew that at this point in his life he was very lonely. He'd once told her how alone he felt, even before her 'grandparents' told him the truth about being an alien. "A few years from now, mom will go through a kind of change. When that happens, well let's just say mom can control her bodily functions a lot better than other humans." The last part of her statement came out with sarcasm dripping in her voice. "And believe me I'm grateful for that otherwise I'd have like a thousand brothers and sisters running around. You two have been together for a thousand years and your still going at it like rabbits. I'm so glad that I don't have super hearing."
That statement caused Logan to start chuckling as he took note of the blush slash mortified expressions that suddenly formed on Clark and Jean's face as the image of what Lara was saying sunk in. "I gotta admit, I think I like this kid." He said with a smile but that soon turned to shock and fear when Lara responded.
"Thanks uncle Jimmy. It's so nice to know that my godfather likes me." Lara quipped enjoying the mortified look that began to form on the fearsome Wolverine's face. Even the Professor smirked at the look on Logan's face.
"I need a drink." Was the only thing Logan could say to that. Learning that he's still alive a thousand years in the future didn't exactly come as a shock to him. He had a few memories form the second world war and he looked exactly the same then as he did now. That said though, why would anyone be crazy enough to make him a godfather.
"Lara, forgive me for asking this." The Professor began. "While I do know a little about the future as Clark and Jean's future selves told me a few things. Are you sure it's wise to tell us the things that you have?"
"Oh, your worried about the timeline getting messed with." Lara said as realisation of what the professor was worried about sank in. "Um, no. I know what I can and cant say." She then stated flatly before taking in a breath and letting it out slowly. "Basically, we're all in a kind of paradox. What that means is that the usual rules of cause and effect have gone out the window. My coming back to this time, as well as my parents going into the past is what actually creates the future I'm from. So what that means is that if I didn't come back here and my parents hadn't gone back as well. Then the timeline I'm from would never have existed."
"Effect proceeding cause." Clark stated in understanding. While he didn't show it often, he was a lot smarter than people give him credit for.
Lara looked at her father and smiled at him knowing that he understood. "Yeah."
"Um, how did this paradox get started? I've seen enough sci-fi programs growing up with Scott to know that they are usually bad." Jean said again slightly confused.
Lara nibbled on her lower lip for a few seconds thinking about how to break that news to her mother. Then deciding that the only way to do that was to come out and say it. "Well, your kinda responsible for that mom."
"What?" Everyone asked.
"Look that's a really complicated story and I don't know all the details." Lara admitted. "All I know is that in some timeline, something really bad happened. Something so bad that mom had to go to drastic lengths to fix it. The result was this paradox we're in." Then Lara turned her full attention to her mother. "You once told me that eventually you began to have visions of the original timeline. You said that this paradox was the only way to stop it from happening."
"Are we stuck in a loop?" Clark asked with full understanding. "Or will a point in time come when the paradox ends?"
"When I return to my time, the paradox should end. At least from my point in time on." Lara answered again glad that her father understood what was going on.
"You understand what she's talking about?" Jean asked Clark.
"I think so." Clark answered as he looked back at Jean. "Paradoxes can either be a continues loop where we're all trapped and when we get to a certain point, events repeat themselves. Or it's fixed around a certain set of events and once the events have played out, time returns to normal."
"Well I'm glad one of us knows what the firecracker is talking about." Logan stated with a grunt of annoyance at not really understanding what was going on. Much to his surprise Lara started to chuckle. "Ok kid, what is it?"
"It's nothing uncle Jimmy. That's the same nickname you give me when I was like three." Lara admitted with a fond smile.
"Why do you keep calling me Jimmy?" Logan asked as he realised that that was the second time she'd called him that.
"Oh you don't remember do you?" Lara asked to which she got a shake of the head from Logan in response.
It took Logan a few seconds to realise it but as he looked at the young red head he knew that she knew about his past. "You know about my past? Don't you?"
"Yeah. Um there's also a lot I don't know. But you do get your memories back." Lara stated before letting out a sigh. "My parents never said anything about what I can and cant tell you about yourself. There's also a lot I cant tell mom and dad. My job is to just give them enough information to ensure that the future plays out the way it needs to." Everyone in the room took one look at Lara and knew that she was conflicted. However just when the Professor was about to speak, she spoke. "You were born James Howlett in the eighteen thirties in Canada. I don't know where exactly, you never told me."
"What else can you tell me?" Logan asked feeling a sudden urge to know as much as possible.
Lara looked at Logan sadly before answering. "You need to discover that for yourself. I've said all I can, you need to learn about your past in your own way."
Despite wanting to know more Logan could see the sadness in Lara's eyes as she told him she couldn't say anymore. "That's alright kid, I've got a name at least. Thanks." He finally said.

=A Thousand Years In The Future=
Kal and Jean had just returned from saving the Professor from a reprogrammed Brainiac and were both glad to see that the timeline was still as they remembered. Making their way to the debriefing room Kal spotted Rokk. "Rokk, i need you to do me a favour."
Rokk turned to look at the Kryptonian. "What is it Kal?" He asked.
"I need you to go back and get Lara. She's still at the institute." Kal stated to which Rokk nodded in understanding and was just about to head towards the transport room when Jean stopped him.
"Rokk. Reprogram the ring that the Persuader took and leave it there for my younger self." She ordered only to get a look of confusion from Rokk. "Trust me on this." She then said to which the young man nodded before taking off.
"So are we going to ground her for that whole at it like rabbit's quip?" Kal asked his wife who just smiled at him in response before moving in front of him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Well, she wasn't lying." Jean responded wiggling her eyebrows slightly. "After a thousand years and you still know how to make me scream." With that she stood on her tip toes and pecked at her husbands lips before pulling back and smiling at him. "And the sooner we're done with the debrief. The sooner you can do it again." That said she let go of her husband and turned towards the briefing room. As she walked off she began to sway her hips in a very seductive manner, knowing full well the effect it would have on him.
Kal's eyes began to glow a light red as his hormones began to go into overdrive.
