A/N: I'm a bad person. I know. It's been far to long since I've updated. But, if it makes you all feel better, you'll be getting 2 Chapters in this update. And they have been written for quite some time. I just haven't typed them. Again, I know. I suck.

Chapter 15

Dean had somehow made it back to the apartment. How, he didn't know. But here he was. And Cas was gone That's what Gabe had said. What the fuck? He wasn't supposed to leave until this afternoon. He sighed heavily. He had no idea how to get in touch with him. He supposed he could ask Gabe, but the man didn't seem to be very forthcoming. Dean had asked him why Cas had left, but he just shook his head and shut the door in Dean's face. Well, shit. Now what was he supposed to do?

Cas got back to his apartment around 9AM. He had the whole day off, since he wasn't even supposed to be back into town until tonight. He gazed around his place, trying to think of anything but Dean. It wasn't working. He could almost feel the green eyed man's hands still on him, and it made his skin tingle. How could he be this affected by someone he'd only known for a few days?

Cas busied his hands with the few dishes that he had left in the sink. His mind wandered back to Dean. He wished he could see him again, talk to him again... touch him again. But Dean had made it pretty clear with his reaction that he didn't want anything more to do with Cas. And that broke his heart. He had fallen for the mechanic, too hard and too fast. It was his own fault. He should have never let it go on, left it at that night in the bar. But there had been something there, and when he'd caught a glimpse of him at the garage, it had ignited something he thought had died a long time ago.

He was brought out of his reverie by the sound of his phone. "Shit, forgot to call Gabe." And of course, it was his brother. "Cassie! You didn't call, I was worried!" Cas shook his head and smiled softly. "I'm fine, Gabriel. I just forgot. Too much on my mind is all."

"About that. Dean was here about an hour after you left. He seemed pretty upset. What the hell happened? Thought you guys were all lovey dovey or some shit?" Cas let out a long sigh. "It doesn't matter. It's over now. He doesn't want anything to do with me." His brother was silent on the other end of the phone for a few seconds, then said, "You told him, didn't you? And he didn't react well?" Cas didn't answer, and this time it was Gabe that sighed. "Cassie, I've told you. Don't say anything. No one needs to know that much about you. It always ends badly. Besides, you only knew him less than a week. Why did you even say anything?"

"I, uh..." Cas stuttered, unsure of exactly what to say. He really cared for Dean, maybe even loved him, but he couldn't tell his brother that. "I thought he deserved to know. Before anything serious happened." Cas frowned. Too late for that. But Gabe could read him like a book, even over the phone. "Cassie! Don't lie! You cared about him. You wouldn't have told him if you didn't."

Cas was quiet again. "Gabriel, I really just don't want to discuss this. It doesn't matter anymore, any way."

Gabe laughed. " I wouldn't say that! You didn't see him when I told him you were gone. He looked like I ran over his puppy. I tried to talk to him, but he just wandered back to that beast of a car of his."

Cas' breath caught. It couldn't be. Dean did go to Gabe's this morning. Maybe he wanted him after all? No, it was too much to hope for. "Never mind, Gabe. Look, I have to go. I'll call you later this week." He didn't wait for his brother to answer, he just hung up the phone. Why did Dean even show up at Gabe's? It did't make sense.

Dean puttered around his apartment trying to stay busy, but not really doing anything productive. He moved books from one table to the other. He wiped down the clean countertop for the fourth time. He wished he could go to the garage, but Bobby would kick his ass if he came back in before tomorrow morning. He had said to spend some time with Sam, and didn't want him around for a few days. Sam... that was it. He made his way to his brother's room. The door was closed, but he knocked loudly. It was still fairly early, at least for Sam. The kid never got up before noon when he was home. "Go away!" Sam groaned from the other side of the door.

"Come on Sammy, rise and shine!" He opened the door and strode in, opening the shades. "Up and at 'em baby brother! Let's do something! I gotta go back to work tomorrow and you leave to go back to Stanford in a few days. Come on, brotherly bonding or some such shit!"

Sam pulled the blanket over his head and just groaned louder. "I just got to sleep at 4AM Dean. I'm not ready to be awake!" Dean smirked. "Late night, eh? Who was the lucky person, Sammy? The blonde chick from the other night? Jen, Joy..." Sam sighed loudly. "Her name was Jess. And no, it wasn't her.. it was Gabe." Dean stopped smirking and stood staring at his brother. "Gabe Novak? As in, Cas' brother Gabe?" Sam sat up. Dean was far too interested in this conversation to let him go back to sleep. "Yes, Cas' brother Gabe. When you two left the Roadhouse together, we started talking. You know how it goes," he smiled. Yeah, Dean knew. That's how he'd gotten into this thing with Cas. He nodded. "You gonna see him again?" Sam shrugged. "I don't know. We were really good together. And he's hilarious. But I leave in a few days. Long distance relationships aren't really my thing."

Dean was looking out the window, half listening to his brother, half lost in thought. He needed to talk to Cas. Gabe could be his way to him. He knew where Gabe lived, and the paperwork he had filled out for his car was at the garage. It probably had his number it. Besides, he had to come and pick up his Mustang when it was done."

"Yeah. Anyway. What should we do today? Just the two of us? Whatever you want!" Sam flopped back down on his bed. "Can't I just sleep?" Dean turned around and pulled his brothers leg off the bed, virtually pulling the taller man to the floor. "No way, man! UP! Let's go! Shower and I'll get you some coffee. Come on! UP!" He walked out of Sam's room toward the kitchen. He heard his brother stomp toward the bathroom muttering something under his breath, and Dean was pretty sure it wasn't anything nice.

Sam was in a better mood after the shower and some coffee. The brothers had decided they'd go out to the gun range for some target practice. It was something they used to do a lot before Sam left for college. Their father had taught them when they were young how to handle guns safely. Besides, Dean needed to let off some nervous energy. He had a plan now. Or, sort of a plan. He'd get Cas' number from Gabe, call him up, and... what? Profess his love to him? Cas had regrets, so maybe it was too late for all of that, but he had to try. At least then he could say at he'd told Cas how he felt. If he didn't feel the same, well, so be it.
