Shadow lay on the cave floor. On the ground in front of him was a empty diary, crafted from dried skin, with a cover made of pokemon fur. Next to it lay a small, hollow skull filled with blood. The ink, no doubt. Next to the skull was an fearow feather. The quill. Shadow lay there, staring at the objects in front of him, lost in his memories. He thought about the last moments of the items suppliers. Their screams. Their own blood splashing all over both them and Shadow. The thrashing of their bodies as their flesh was torn off. And their small, weak whimpers and sobs as life fled from their bodies. Shadow was snapped out of his mind when a drip of water from the cave roof landed on his head. He quickly brought his attention back to his diary. Picking up the quill, he began to write.
``Dear die-ary, today I had a friend over. He stayed for a long time, and we had a lot of fun!`` Shadows writing picked up speed as he began to write all about the time he spent with his friend, Flare.
It was a clear morning. A few white clouds dotted the sky here and there. Pidgeys sang. And all of the pokemon in the forest seemed to have somewhere to be.
Especially Flare.
The flareon was on his way to his old friend Shadows house. He had said that he had something special planned for the two of them only. Flare suddenly halted in his tracks. He was there. Before him was a huge cave, looking as though it had been there for centuries. Which it probably had. A wooden door had been made specially for it, and was attached to the cave opening. Flare knocked on it, and was greeted almost instantly by Shadow, who was smiling widely. The umbreon greeted Flare excitedly. ``Why Flare!`` he exclaimed. ``You finally made it! Come in, have a seat! I'll be with you in a sec!`` Shadow quickly led Flare inside, closing and locking the door behind him. Flare looked around the inside of the cave. Two tree stumps were in the middle of the room, both cushioned by leaves and grass. A wide, flat rock was in the middle of them, a small glass cylinder containing a firefly, in its middle. Flare walked over to the left stump, sitting down. He could just about hear Shadow clattering something about in a different part of the cave, and also what sounded and smelled like meat cooking. Flare started to look around the room again, but was interrupted when Shadow came back in, carrying four metal rings. Flare looked confused, and opened his mouth to question it, but was stopped when Shadow muffled him with his tail. Moving closer, Shadow placed the metal rings around Flares front paws, and then stuck them into the stump, rendering Flare unable to use his front paws. He then proceeded to do the same to Flares back paws, preventing him from escaping. Shadow then stood back, and relished the panic on Flares face. ``Shadow, this isn't funny! Let me go!`` The flareon managed to stammer out. Shadow simply smiled wider, before revealing what he was clattering around. Various sharp objects, all neatly organised, and laying inside a wooden box. ``W-what are you going to do to me?`` Flare partly yelled, starting to tear up. Shadow simply grinned, before saying ``Why Flare! We're gonna have some fun!``
He then tilted his head into the sky, and laughed.
