Sorry I didn't do this last chapter but I couldn't decide if I was going to do Wolfstar. Ships in this fic are Jily and Wolfstar. Peter is a little bit OOC right now, but don't worry I have many plans to develop his character.
TW: A touch of swearing.
Voldemort looked at Peter with a smile before taking his wand and casting a silencing spell. Peter was frozen in horror as he watched the man move closer. Two pale hands reached out, and straightened his tie, grabbing his attention. Peter jerked backward violently, trying desperately to get away.
"Hello Peter," The cold voice came, causing him to look into the eyes of the man above him.
Peter found his voice and whispered, "W-what d-do you want?"
"Oh, Peter, I just need someone on the inside for this fight, and I think that you'd be perfect. Look at you shaking in fear, acting as though I'm about to kill you. I won't though, that is, kill you. No one else from your side of this war will listen to me, but I think you'll be smart enough to know this is how you will make it through alive."
Peter squeaked in fear when Voldemort put a hand on his shoulder. The deathly white skin contrasted harshly with his black robes.
"I w-won't d-do it," Peter stuttered in a quiet voice steeling himself for torture.
"You won't have a choice."
"Do w-what you want to me, but I won't do it," Peter was steadily gathering his courage, but then Voldemort said something horrible.
Voldemort opened his mouth and growled, "It won't be you I go after. I'll start with Sirius. Torture him nice and slow, maybe I'll take the bloodtraiter to his mother, she has so many plans for him. Then I will find James and his mudblood girlfriend, it would be a shame to let his pureblooded line die out in such a miserable way. After those three are finished I'm going to take the filthy halfbreed you call your friend, it won't be difficult to find him a purpose, and I'm sure Fenrir would love to have his pup back. See Peter this is why you will join my side, to protect your friends."
Peter swallowed thickly and closed his eyes, perhaps praying that this was all a dream, but when he opened them the other man was still there. He looked at the cruel smile and knew that he wasn't going to beat Voldemort alone, he couldn't. Peter hung his head in defeat.
"Please don't h-hurt them, p-please," Peter begged, ragged sobs tearing their way out of his throat.
"I don't have to, Peter, just keep this parchment with you at all times so I can contact you. Otherwise, I might have to turn to much more extreme measures to contact you, and neither of us wants that. Now Peter I hope you understand that you can't tell anyone else I was here, if you do your friends will suffer the consequences."
After this was said, Peter looked up and saw that Voldemort had gone, leaving behind a blank parchment. He reached out and grabbed it, taking a moment before standing, not even sure when he had fallen to his knees. When he got to his feet he ran to the door, he had to make sure Voldemort didn't do anything to his friends.
Peter ran out of the room and down to the hospital wing, almost knocking over a sobbing first-year in his haste. When he got to the hospital wing he saw Sirius and Remus, sleeping soundly on the same bed. Peter didn't have the map to find James and check on him, so he took a seat next to the bed and waited for the boys to wake up.
Peter woke to Sirius shaking him. He didn't look too surprised, given that the day after the full Peter always ended up sleeping in the hospital wing eventually. He looked to the bed and saw Remus struggling to climb out before Sirius grabbed him.
"It's okay, love, just slow down," Sirius said lovingly, with a small smile.
He saw Remus lean against Sirius in a rare show of vulnerability. Peter watched them, feeling out of place witnessing such a private moment. After a minute Sirius got Remus to stand, though the other boy was still leaning heavily on him. The young couple started heading out of the hospital wing together, with Peter following closely behind.
The three Marauders walked into the common room and saw the fourth and final member, James sitting with his fiery-headed girlfriend. As they passed the bespectacled boy Peter eyed him carefully, for any sign of distress or injury, but ultimately decided that he was fine and followed Sirius and Remus up the dorm.
Peter stared as Sirius settled Remus on the bed and Remus in turn tugged him into the bed. Sirius reached over to the nightstand, grabbed a book, and began reading. Remus quickly dropped into sleep while Sirius read to him in a soft voice. Waiting a moment after Remus started snoring, Sirius slid out of the bed and pulled out a deck of muggle cards. He sat down on Peter's bed and set up a game called speed. Two games later the door slammed open to reveal a very stressed James Potter.
"What happened?" Peter asked when he saw James' face.
"Voldemort was seen on the grounds," James said in a strained voice. "I came up to check on you three."
Peter nodded in understanding, while internally freaking out. He didn't think that Voldemort would allow himself to be seen, so there must have been an agenda. He didn't know if Voldemort was doing this to scare Dumbledore or if this was a threat against him, either way, it was a great risk to take.
Distantly, Peter could hear Sirius asking James for more information, but he was too lost in his head. At some point, while Peter had been distracted Remus woke up and was now asking to be filled in.
"A bloody first year saw him," James groaned. "Poor kid was crying and freaking out until Alice got the story out of him. She's probably traumatized for life."
After James finished telling the story the boys were quiet for a moment. No one knew what to say, Voldemort had never gone near the school before, and this meant that something big was about to happen.
Remus was the one to break the silence with the words, "Well, we only have a week left; then we'll be able to fight in this damned war."
