So sorry about the super duper wait but I've been busy and angry and everything's better now but still.
Enjoy this chapter, the next chapter is going to be the last one and that'll be up on Thursday night.
The next two weeks were filled with dirty diapers and sleepless nights, but to the two exhausted new parents it was both their pleasure as well as their privilege. Yorokobi was a noisy little baby, prone to more poopy diapers than his sister who rarely cried at all. Saruhiko, whenever saying his daughter's name, would get a faraway look in his eyes and would squeeze Reisi's hand, running his thumb over the silver band on his mate's finger.
Reisi proposed silently, leaving the small box next to the younger's favorite flower for him to find, and when he did he rushed into their bedroom nodded and crying and kissing and hugging. Neither of them wanted a big wedding, though Reisi could certainly afford it considering he was one of the richest people in Japan. Saruhiko wanted an excuse to wear a wedding dress, however, so at least they would have a small ceremony with close friends and Munakata's family.
Saruhiko was gorgeous in the white lace gown, and it took Reisi's breath away. The ceremony was short, small, sweet and to the point, and Reisi finally found the perfect time to introduce his family to the mother of their grandchildren. The boy had looked so happy, so truly elated to get married that the sight of his ecstatic smiling face brought tears of happiness to Reisi's eyes. His parents loved Saruhiko, and flat out adored the squirming bundles of their grandchildren. They had absolutely no problem that Saruhiko was a male Omega, and greeted him like he was their own daughter. Saruhiko was happy, Reisi was happy.
And now they were married.
Two weeks turned to three months, and every month they had a birthday party for their little bundles of joy(s). Awashima and Misaki, along with Izumo, would come for the cake eating, while their kids marveled at the glittering candles. Awashima and Izumo were the godparents, while Misaki was firmly the children's aunt. Everything thing was perfect, everything was just as it should be, and Reisi took the time to tell this to Saruhiko every chance that he got.
However, one night, when they were lying in bed with Yorokobi and Maria snoozing in their cribs, Saruhiko pulled Reisi's head down to look at him and began speaking. "When I died...I don't know how long I was gone...but I saw things..." Reisi's eyes widened but he stayed silent, always curious about asking such a thing but knowing it was rude to ask. "I...I saw Mariko...all grown up and beautiful...six years old like she should have been...and she looked so happy Reisi...so happy...we weren't in heaven or hell but somewhere in between...floating in a white space...I don't know what I looked like or what I was wearing but she wearing the cutest red checkered dress with her black hair pulled to the sides in pigtails...she looked so amazing...and she smiled at me...she said...she said she was happy for me and that she loved me...to take care in life and to enjoy it...and then Maria was standing next to her...the first Maria...my first friend...and she didn't have a smile but I know she was smiling...she said...take care...and then-"
Saruhiko started crying, "And then they disappeared and I woke up in that hospital bed and wanted my babies...they were so precious and perfect and you were there and I just..." He let out a choked sob and smiled brighter than Reisi ever seen, "I looked out the window and the sky it was blue and the sun was so bright Reisi!" Reisi paused and then broke out in a grin, in a laugh, and hugged his lover tight. "The sky's so pretty Reisi! Prettier than the yellow it used to be! Oh God I'm better Reisi! I'm not sick anymore!"
The words were like tinkling the glass, and the tears like a clear spring rain that washed away all the sadness. They held each other, wrapped up tight in sheets and love, their children sleeping soundly while they cried and laughed and celebrated life in their own private world.
Saruhiko had the twins in their highchairs, bibs of pastel colors tucked under their chins as he fed them orange mush with a tiny green spoon. He perched on a wooden stool, dressed in a baby blue apron over a white shirt with overalls rolled up to his knees, feet bare and face smudged in pink and yellow paint from their earlier attempt at finger-painting in the bathroom. His lower back was sore and his eyes were bloodshot from occasional sleepless nights, but he was sure he was glowing with the happiness he constantly felt in his heart.
"Here comes the train~choo choo~open up the tunnel sweetheart it's time to eat~" He waved the spoon around Maria's mouth, but the baby just blinked at him with big blue eyes like his own and they squeaked a giggle. Saruhiko sighed, smiling, and blew back a wisp of hair that had fallen from his hair clips in all the drama. "You guys just won't give mommy a break will you?" His children both giggled in response and he found himself grinning back when the door bell suddenly rang.
Reisi was in the bedroom, taking a much needed nap, they tended to the kids in cycles, though work usually drained Reisi of most of his energy he managed to always pull through for the children. However, today was a saturday and he wanted to let Reisi rest and mostly so he could have the kids all to himself.
He set down the spoon and bowl of mush on the counter and left his bouncing babies and wiped his hands quickly on his overalls before opening the door.
"Hello! How can I-"
His smile fell and his face grew pale.
He knew this woman, with her thin face and slate blue eyes, her thin black hair that framed her face in a severe bob cut with blunt bangs. She wore a false smile of bright red lipstick, and wore a black pinstriped suit complete with skirt and pantyhose and vicious high heels.
"O-Oka-san..."
The word lanced through him like a bolt of lightening, the scars there but scattered throughout the years like branches of a tree that seeped into his bones like sap and hardened there.
What was she doing here?
Why was she here?
"Hello Saruhiko-kun, I've heard you've been doing well." The emphasis on the suffix like a kick in the teeth. Clearly still displeased that he was an Omega, what she believed to be a female role, that he was a dog's bitch. He pulled on a mask, a tight lipped smile, "Yes, how have you been, Oka-san?"
He received a head tilt and a smile that was growing faker by the second. "I've been well, your father too, but I didn't come here for small chat. I came here to see my grandchildren."
If there was any color left in Saruhiko's face, it was gone now. His spine went as rigid as a board, his heart skipping a beat and his blood felt like it was filled with ice crystals.
"You came...to visit your grandchildren..."
"Yes, and I do not like waiting."
Saruhiko felt himself begin to hyperventilate, but even though his chest heaved and his fingers gripped into the door tight enough to make his knuckles go white, his mother's eyes were as cold and firm as steel. "Y-You can't come in..." his voice was wavering, but his resolve was stone. He wouldn't let this woman, this woman who dared call herself his mother, he wouldn't let her ruin the wonderful world he had worked so hard to build.
He wouldn't let her kill any more of his children.
Putting her foot in the door she pulled viciously at the doorknob, "Just let me in you worthless slut, I have a right to see my grandchildren!" Her facade dropped she let her hatred shine through her gaze and her words.
"You have no right!" He shouted, and his children began to cry at their mother's troubled voice. He pulled hard but they were at equal strenths, and he felt tears blur his vision.
"You took away Mariko and you have the gall to ask to see my children?! You already made me kill one! Why the hell would I let you near them again?!" He cried, tears slipping down his face.
She growled, a sharp cruel snarl of a wolf, "Oh shut up! You were thirteen and a whore and a disgrace of a male! You had no right to have a child and you still don't! Who the hell's this one's father huh? I bet he's some half wit gutter trash who just wanted a hole to fuck!"
How dare she say such foul things when only she was to blame. She and her awful husband who neglected him and treated him like he didn't exist, like he didn't matter. He dug his feet in, blood and anger roaring in his ears and even drowning out the sound of his crying children.
How dare she insult his Alpha, his Reisi, the man who saved him from himself.
"Bitch! Devil! How dare you come here and say such things! I hate you! I always fucking hated you! You're going to hell for what you did! You and father both!"
She narrowed her eyes, pushing back with suprising force, enough to make Saruhiko's back leg give out. "Stupid whore, how dare you speak to me in-"
"I'm sorry, is there a problem here?"
He felt the warmth of his partner on his back and a strong hand helped him to his feet while the other had a firm grip on the door. Saruhiko blinked up at his mate, tears drying on his face, and felt a warmth bubble up in his heart. Reisi kissed his forehead, causing him to blush, and gave a gentle squeeze on his waist. "Why don't you calm the children and I'll deal with this." Saruhiko spared one last look at the horror at the door, his mother's eyes widened in shock, before dashing off to comfort his children and take them to their bedrooms.
As soon as his mate was out of the living room and behind their children's closed door, he let his smile of a kind mate fall and put the cold mask of the Blue King in it's place.
"You have no business here, I am going to have to ask you to leave." Saruhiko's mother just stared at him, mouth opening and closing as she fought for words, her face pale. "I-I...I know y-you...y-you're the...the..." Reisi allowed himself to smirk. "Yes, I am the Blue King, and you are the mother of my mate, though you will not hear me say you deserve such a title." Her starstruck gaze broke and she hardened into a frown. "N-Now see h-here I'm his-"
"You're his nothing. You deserve nothing. The fact that you dare to ask to see your grandchildren after you murdered the first one does not speak well of you in any light. I have more than enough reason and power to put you and your husband in jail for child neglect and murder. Last time I checked, Omegas never consent to abortion, meaning you coerced your son into killing his child. You have caused more than enough suffering on the boy, and if it were up to me I would not allow you mercy, however, it happens to be my wedding anniversary." He cocked his head to the side with a blank smile, "So I'll be lenient and let you leave with a fine of all you own, including your titles, you shall also be moving to Mexico, where I hear nobody speaks Japanese. Have fun."
He closed the door on her stunned face, yes, he was going to enjoy his wedding anniversary without interruptions.
Lol, the ending made me snicker when I wrote it. Sassy Reisi is a hot Reisi
