SARAH POV
The last thing Sarah wanted was to be here. Sarah wanted to be anywhere but in the middle of all...this. She didn't even know what was going on anymore. There were too many loose ends to this whole thing. Sarah looked out the window and stared into a shining night. The building Kristopher and Nikolas had set up in was some dingy(and that's putting it lightly) motel in downtown Los Angeles. She found it incredibly annoying that with everything going on she still couldn't stop thinking. The window had dusty light brown curtains that were now parted to the sides. The building was not tall enough to give her any semblance of a decent view but she had a good look out into the street below. There were a few bars nearby and the foot traffic made her nervous. The lights coming in from the window bothered her but she couldn't seem to look away. She stared into that night for what would have been an uncomfortable amount of time had she still been... well normal. Where was Eserven, and who was he really? She didn't know what to rely on. She had to find something inside to keep her going but she wasn't sure she wanted to keep going... going where? There was a part of here that couldn't trust Kristopher. Not him exactly, having unrestricted access, she knew he loved her, but that is precisely what made her nervous. " I just wanted to see him again..."
Kristopher POV
He walked into the room to see her standing right by the window. The air was coming in, gently moving her hair. She was perfectly still. He stood behind her waiting fort her to turn but she didn't even seem to notice him there. Kristopher did not know where to go with her, figuratively speaking. For one she could read his mind at will. He wasn't sure what the boundaries were and if she even considered him her boyfriend, lover, friend, did we need a label... He pulled out his notebook and drew her. Standing in that darkness, with the lights turned off she looked like a demon deciding its next move. The light of the city outside framed her outline and in that shadow she seemed so powerful to him he never felt more drawn to her. One hour...two hours passed and she did not move. He looked down at his drawing and though he was hardly ever satisfied with his work, he felt for the first time he might have captured the essence of that illusive spark that Kendra once described as "movement in stillness". He looked back up at her and he wanted so much. He wanted to hold her, to have her love him, he wanted everything. He sighed and that sound seemed to finally break into Sarah's reverie. She turned and her face was perfectly expressionless. No surprise, no annoyance, no anything. She had her arms crossed and she did not speak. She just stared at him. He could feel her in his mind, and the sensation was thrilling. He felt incredibly embarrassed at his most recent thoughts and silently apologized to her for his more...physical imaginings. She smiled then. Not a big happy smile, but that cute slight curve of the mouth. He walked up to her and she knew his intentions as he reached for her then. He grabbed her and pulled her against him. He put his mouth gently on her and he was too rough, maybe too rough... he had never felt more nervous. It was such a hungry desperate thing. He felt Nikolas coming up the stairs and he was almost thankful for the interruption. He didn't want to push Sarah past her limits. But he had a few seconds and Kristopher made them count. As Nikolas walked in he separated from her embrace and(maybe he imagined it) Sarah's face looked a little bit disappointed. Nikolas looked more flustered then he should have as he spoke in a rush, " I have some bad news. I found her friend... but I'm telling you the news is not good."
Caryn POV
There are some battles that must be fought. If there's one thing I've learned its that. Some people are so absorbed in hatred no amount of talking is going to fix it. Some problems one cannot talk themselves out of... no negotiation is going to solve anything. There are some moments you draw your blade...and pray just pray... these are the moments when you pray to whatever is out there that you take away more evil then you put into the world. She wanted so much to believe it was all worth it but can any future ever be rightly built on so much blood... She turned her chair to face him, Nikolas. He asked permission for a mental communication and she agreed.
Nikolas:Look, I don't like you and you don't like me
Caryn:I like you
What?
I don't actually have a problem with
Nevermind, I'm in a hurry. Word is you got a bird around here knows how to fly?
Ok... now I get the mental request but what makes you think I would let you use him?
It's for Sarah
That certainly peaked her interest. If they need this particular seer they must be desperate to find someone.
You know the price...don't you?
I know, but its important. Can you help or not?
What is this about?
He turned and looked towards the door of her office.
"You know someones out there trying to listen in don't you?
Caryn smiled and with a very deliberate attempt at sounding unconcerned said, " Of course. But I like keeping on eye on him and I get to direct what Adiana hears." The truth was the spy frightened her. The whole thing frightened her. He had been there for 2 months before Caryn caught on. How many more could be hiding treason in their hearts? Silver had offered her a list of names many times. But the price of his help was too much. She couldn't surrender that list bit of herself. There was a piece of the Smoke line she carried with her still and that was what he wanted for his clan's complete assistance. "Ok, I'll call him in but I can't stress this enough. Don't offer him anything. Don't promise anything and whatever the fuck you do don't tell him your real name. He may already know it but don't let him hear it from your mouth. I hope this is worth it."
