IMPORTANT: We are going to pretend that Episode 9 just premiered and these latest episodes have yet to occur. SO, for the moment, let's just pretend (spoiler) Ward is still a good guy k? Although deep (deep) down I truly believe Ward is a good man and he WILL make things right...
DISCLAIMER: I own nothing. If I did own Marvel (or AoS) (spoiler for the Amazing Spider Man 2) Gwen would not be dying and yes even though all my SkyeWard dreams have come true... WARD WOULD BE A GOOD GUY! Without further a due... Chapter Nine.
Chapter Nine: It's On!
The room was dark, the only light in the bunker was the emergency lights that lined the floor. She slipped out of the comfort of her warm bed and stumbled to the dresser, stubbing her toe on the corner of the bed. She let out a string of colorful words and proceeded to turn her phone on.
She flinched as the bright, sudden light hit her face. She blinked rapidly; her dark, amber eyes adjusting to the light that the IPhone emitted. The clock read 3:00 in the morning. Perfect... A coy smile played across her lips. She quietly opened her newly installed door and peered down the dark, abandoned corridor of the bus. The lounge lights were dimmed and two, empty glasses sat on the frosted, glass bar; evidence of her and Ward's previous rendezvous. She could hear the faint buzzing of the TV in the sitting room and padded down the hall to investigate. She found Fitz and Simmons, curled up on the couch, watching Tangled, asleep.
She picked up the grey, fuzzy blanket and spread it across their sleeping forms. She smiled when Fitz snuggled under the afghan and pulled Simmons closer. She picked up the remote and turned the TV off, right in the middle of Mother Gothel's singing number. She thought she heard Fitz mumble a sound of protest but she may have very well have imagined it...
She tiptoed to the bar and gently placed her and Ward's empty glasses on in the sink, removing any trace of their having been in the lounge past curfew. She made her way back to the bunks. She crept past May's empty room. She was probably in the cockpit... She passed Fitz and Simmons empty room, they were passed out on the couch. She skipped a room, her bunk and arrived at her destination... Her SO's room. She eased the door open and peered inside. She could just barely make out his bulky form on his bunk due to the darkness of the room.
It was a good thing his room was clean and wasn't a pigsty; she didn't die tripping over anything... On his bedside table there was a neat stack of books, a SHIELD water bottle, a lamp, his watch and an alarm clock. She pressed the time button 14 times. The clock now read 1:15. She dusted her hands off and stood up, placing a gentle kiss on her sleeping SO's forehead. He sighed in his sleep, a smile ghosting across his face. She ran her hands through his dark hair, brushing it out of his face and silently backed out of the room.
She tiptoed back to her room, closing her door behind her. She crept back into her bed, pulling her comforter over her body. She snuggled into her pillow and blankets and breathed deeply. She relaxed, giving into the wave of exhaustion that washed over her body. She fell asleep, a faint smile playing across her lips.
When Grant woke up, sunlight steamed in through the portal window. His alarm buzzed, playing that damn 'Happy' song. The clock read 6:30 in the morning. Ward lifted his muscular arms above his head, stretching. He had had a great nights sleep. He felt great. He was, dare he say it, looking forward to his am training secession with Skye. He got out of his bed and walked to the bathroom. He let the warm water wash over his body as he took a shower. He emerged from the steamy bathroom, his towel wrapped around his waist. He checked his watch. 6:45. Perfect. He had 15 minuets until he had to meet Skye at 7:00.
The sun was shining brightly when Skye's alarm rang. Her face broke into a huge smile when she saw the time: 8:30. It was nice to sleep in. Once in awhile. She sat up in bed and stretched, her back arching like a cat's. She threw the covers back and made her way to the bathroom. She reappeared fifteen minuets later, clad only in a towel. Her wet hair tumbled down her back and her skin, freshly oiled, still held lingering water droplets from the shower. She braided her hair, put on a pink tank top and black yoga pants, tied her tennis shoes and left her room. The time was 8:45.
As Ward put on his watch, he glanced out the window. It was a beautiful day... The sky was bright blue, not a cloud to be seen. The sun shone brightly- Grant froze. That wasn't right... When he woke the sky was still dark, the sun barely rising. It was 6:55, the sun shouldn't be shining. He checked his alarm clock. 6:55. He checked his watch. 6:55. He checked his phone. 8:55. That wasn't possible! He was never late... He always set his alarm for six o'clock! Unless... No... No, she wouldn't dare.
He ran from his room and sprinted to the kitchen. Simmons stood at the stove, making eggs, May stood a little ways away, practicing yoga. Fitz was shoveling down a muffin and Coulson sat at the table, reading the newspaper. Skye wasn't anywhere to be seen. Grant let out a growl. "Morning, Ward," Simmons greeted brightly. He nodded curtly.
"Anyone seen Skye?" He questioned, his hands balling into fists at his side.
"She just left," Coulson replied, not looking up from the paper. "She said something about waiting for you in the gym."
"It's a beautiful day," sighed Fitz, looking up from his muffin and out the window, completely off topic.
"Yes, it is," Ward replied, through gritted teeth.
"Did you let Skye sleep in?" May questioned. "It's a little later then normal..." Ward stomped from the kitchen and headed for the gym. And Skye. He was going to have a long talk with her about this little prank war...
A/N: I know... Not my best piece. Please leave a (helpful and constructive!) review to help me improve my writing... I really appreciate it :) But no flames! So I'm really sorry this chapter took so long... I just wasn't very inspired. And then the chapter got deleted... Anyway (sorry if this chap was confusing) what we have here, is a continuation of the Prank War... I know, I know, it's been so long and you guys are probably wondering what the heck am I blabbering about :) Remember Tobias? And FitzSimmons Calvary Joke? And May's whipped cream stunt? Well, this chapter is Skye's turn. She basically turns Ward's clock back 2 hours so she can sleep in :) Also, I have decided to stop mentioning deadlines, because, let's be honest, they never happen :) Thank you! Please R&R!
