Series: The otome game My Candy Love

Pairing: Kagome/Lysander, mention of MC(main character)/Castiel

Summary: Kagome moved to the United States for high school. This meant she now lived with and attended school with her cousin. She never expected so much drama and excitement in her high school life, considering Feudal Japan had been rendered inaccessible to her. Or to find love, considering she had given up on romance.

Sweet Love

Kagome looked on with amusement as her half American cousin dodged an awkward question from Castiel about something the girl's aunt had said. Of course, this just resulted in the redhead teasing her. Naturally, this made Kiari blush and that just made him tease her more. The blue haired girl finally retorted, and Kagome giggled as the two fell into an all too familiar routine.

"Care to share the joke?" Lysander asked from his spot next to her.

Kagome gestured at the quarrelling pair. "I just think it's cute that they are both so oblivious even though Danni-san has been pretty blatant about what's between them since Kiari first mentioned Castiel. And the way they banter like that even though they get along really well is adorable."

Lysander raised an eyebrow but looked at them and smiled. "It is rare to see Castiel so fond of someone."

Kagome's expression softened.

"It's nice that she finally found someone." she said, "Kiari always totally ignored romance before."

Lysander glanced at her from the corner of his eye. "What about you?"

Her smile didn't waver, but her eyes dimmed and he frowned, angry and disconcerted. (The silver haired boy almost felt that he couldn't be more concerned than the look on her face made him feel if she were crying.) "I've given up on that aspect of happiness. I'm content making sure the people I care about are happy."

"What happened to make you feel that way?" he asked gently.

Her eyes shined with sorrow she would never fully voice and Lysander worried that she would cry. "The one guy I thought I loved made it perfectly clear that all I was good for was being a replacement for the ex everyone claimed I looked like. It's not even what he said; he tried to treat me well when we finally started to be friends and then maybe something more. But it was obvious in the way he always ran off from all of us to be with her after she came back."

Lysander frowned but didn't say anything. Instead he squeezed her hand so that they would go unnoticed. He was already thinking of a way to both cheer her up and rectify the unforgiveable situation.

A week and a half later found Lysander heading to the rooftop of Amoris High, leading Kagome by the hand. (Times like these were why he found it a godsend that Castiel usually wasn't one to pry even when he was curious.) Kagome had been giving the two boys a hand as they practiced, and as Castiel wanted to make sure Kiari didn't linger and Lysander often insisted on walking Kagome home the pair's continued absence from the rest of the world went unnoticed. When the black haired girl had finally started to question Lysander they made it to their destination.

"Lysander, what are we-" Kagome paused in shock, for when they had stepped outside and onto the roof a picnic was laid out, "What… is all of this?"

It was a mix between a typical picnic and a romantic candlelit dinner in the moonlight. The crate that was over there was covered by a tablecloth. On top of it were a jar with a single rose and a covered jar holding a candle on each side of it. An old school radio was playing music that was neither what older people consider obnoxious or classical. Kagome turned to Lysander only to find him bowing slightly with a hand held out to her. His heterochromatic green and gold eyes met her blue-violet ones.

"Would you accompany me for dinner, Kagome? And be my princess, if only for this night?" His smile was gentle and his eyes gleamed softly with an emotion Kagome didn't dare try to decipher.

She took his hand, hiding hope and nervousness behind a teasing smile. "I would be delighted. You better be careful though Lysander, or I'll think this is a date."

Lysander's eyes gained an intensity Kagome had never seen directed at her, and his smile got slightly bigger. "It seems you saw right through me."

Kagome's eyes widened. "Lysander?"

He straightened up, pulling on her hand to bring her closer to him. "Isn't it obvious? I wouldn't do something like this for just any girl."

"What's obvious?" she asked, not daring to guess.

Lysander wrapped his arms around her and kissed her forehead, when he pulled away he brought his hand up to her face and brushed his thumb across her cheek. "I must confess, I originally intended to let things stay as they have been until either White Day to honor your old home's culture or until I had an idea of how you feel."

In spite of her hesitation to believe her change in luck, joy started to bloom in Kagome's heart. "You can't possibly be saying- I must be dreaming."

Lysander touched his forehead to hers. "This is no dream, Kagome. I have loved you for a long time now."

Kagome smiled, her eyelashes now wet with unshed tears. "I love you too."

The new couple watched the sunset turn to twilight, wrapped in each other's arms, and occasionally feeding each other, until they saw the moon and realized that they had to leave before the school was locked up in the night. Both fell asleep smiling blissfully that night.
