Chapter 14. Another procrastination chapter.

I COULD end it right now. But was convinced not to. Lucky you.

SO HERE WE ARE. Classes and quidditch.

I woke up at 5:45, and picked out what I was going to wear, and pulled out my shower supplies. I figured the other girls wouldn't want to be wakened any earlier than they had to, and maybe they weren't going to take a shower this morning.

At promptly 6, I, along with several second year students, went to shower, and I was done by 6:15. I got dressed in the Hogwarts Uniform, which was very bland, and went back to the dormitory to finish getting ready. I braided my hair in a long braid, then folded my work robe and placed it carefully into my bag, just in case I had herbology or potions. I placed all my books into my bag, thankful that Narcissa had spelled it so the bag was a bottomless pit, which I could easily carry, as the weight always remained the same. I tied my holster, with the wand, to my arm, then slid on a pair of black combat boots (It didn't say we had to wear dainty shoes, and I absolutely refused to wear such things with this kind of outfit).

I tapped my wand in midair, and the time appeared. 7:00. I looked around the room, and noticed that the other girls were still asleep. I should just leave them laying there, and let a prefect deal with them. I, wasn't that mean however.

I walked to the doorway, ready to make my escape with my robes on, and my bag strapped over my shoulder. "I hope you slept with your robes on." I said, fairly loudly. I saw a little bit of movement. "It's currently 7:02. You have 23 minutes to be in the common room. Have fun." I then ran out of the room, with the yells of the other girls behind me.

I went and sat near the fire of the common room, and watched as the older years slowly lined up to exit the dorms. Draco came over to me, with his two goons following him. "Where are the other girls?"

I shrugged, "For some reason they didn't wake up until 7:02." He looked at the grandfather clock that was in the room, then raised an eyebrow, and I began to laugh. "I was up at 5:45, and did everything on schedule. The others didn't. As revenge, I decided to leave them sleeping until I was about to leave. It was their own fault for not waking themselves up."

He shook his head, "So, basically, today you need to be kept safe from the first year girls."

I grinned, "Basically. I'll also probably need to be protected from the other upper Slytherins, once they figure out tonight."

He nodded, "I'll do my best. Although, from what I heard last night, you can handle yourself pretty well." He waved his hand towards the table, "Bletchley was there, all night. I don't know if he actually slept. I found him this morning before going to my shower, and told the prefects. Actually, you may want to avoid him. He seems pretty mad."

I shrugged, "I've been sworn protection by the Quidditch team." I then thought about having to get ready for quidditch, I would have to go find another quidditch player from another house.

It was 7:20, and there was still no sign of the first year girls. I stood up and went to the back of the line with Draco and the other first years. The prefects were going down the line, making sure everyone was in uniform, and was in attendance. When they reached the end of the line, they raised an eyebrow, "Where are the first year girls, Vespera?"

I shrugged, "They'll be here soon. They didn't see it fit to awaken until 7:02."

That, was when the other girls came down, they were all glaring at me. None of them had their books, and all wore their hair down. I smiled at them, "Good Morning!" I received no response. All of Slytherin quietly walked through the common room, then to the table. I, however, wandered away once we reached the great hall.

I saw the two redhead Gryffindor, and sat down between them, earning several strange looks. I still didn't have the Slytherin shield on my robes, and I hadn't been seen at the sorting. "Hullo Fred and George."

They grinned at me, the one on the left started, "So Vespera, you're a lion?"

"Or a snake?" the one on the right continued.

"Assuming you came in with the Slytherins."

"You're a snake."

"You're sitting here with us though."

"So maybe you just got lost on your way here."

"Or maybe you got lost once you entered the hall."

I held up my hands, laughing. "I was sorted into Slytherin." The few Gryffindors that were sitting near them slid away. "And apparently I'm not welcomed by the Gryffindor. I actually had a question for you." I was looking across the table at Angela.

The right twin, Fred, raised an eyebrow, "So you're not here to give us,"

"Your ever loving company?"

I shook my head, "By associating with you guys, I'm already about to be killed by the Slytherins. I can feel their death stare. I already have the first year girls mad, and the other guys on the quidditch team." I looked back at Angelina, "Slytherin has quidditch practice today, Flint gave the specific instructions to change in the locker rooms, and to then meet in the Slytherin section to go out on the field by 6." She raised her eyebrow, trying to figure out what the problem was, so I continued, "The other 6 members are male. They didn't bother telling me where the girls' locker room was, or how to get to the Slytherin meeting spot. I was hoping you could help me?"

She smiled, "I'll gladly help. I'll meet you in the grand hall at 5:40."

I smiled, "Thanks a lot Angelina." I then looked at the twins, "I heard you lost points for your house already. Did you get the first years good?"

They nodded, "We flipped a few of their boats. It was quite the show."

Fred continued, "What happened to you last night? Percy told us they found you on the train?"

I shrugged, "It was nothing. Just a bad memory." I stood up, and messed up their hair, "I'll talk to you guys later, when I'm not about to be on the outs with Slytherin. Bye you guys!" I waved at all three of the Gryffindors, then went over and sat next to Draco and received dirty looks from the other Slytherins.

I began putting food onto my plate, then eating it. I ignored the others around me with their gaping mouths. I had no need to talk to idiots.

Jaelah was sitting on the other side of me, "Hey Vespera, Thanks for waking us up. We appreciated it." I looked over at her, expecting a hint of sarcasm, and saw none. "At least I appreciate it, I don't know about the others. I mean, you could have let us keep sleeping and miss breakfast all together."

I smiled, "I'm sorry I didn't wake you up sooner. Honestly, the thought didn't cross my mind that you were all accidentally oversleeping. I figured you were all just quick to get ready with spells and what not."

Millie shook her head, across the table, "Not at all. At least I'm not."

"I'll wake you guys up next time. We have to stick together." They smiled at me, and I smiled back.

One of the prefects came down and handed us our schedules. "These are your schedules, don't complain about them. Most classes you have alone, but the ones you have to share with another house, Dumbledore seems it fit to pair Gryffindor with Slytherin, every year." I took a schedule, and grinned.

"This is so exciting!" I exclaimed while the others looked like they were going to die. "We have magical theory! I mean, people use spells all the time, but thinking about the theory behind it is bound to be interesting! Sure, we have herbology with the Ravenclaws, but they'll answer all the questions, we'll survive."

Draco glared at me from the side, "You're absolutely mental."

One of the boys, who was in first year was laughing at me, "You're going to be our entertainment of the year Vespera. If you keep up with that attitude, you may become the house favorite." He held his hand across the table, "Theodore. Call me Teddy though, everyone does."

I shook his hand, "It's a pleasure to meet you Teddy." I smiled at this boy, he was probably the nicest Slytherin I had met so far. "I'll try to keep your year interesting."

I heard a slight commotion from behind me, and slightly turned my head, noticing someone had spilled their plate. I then noticed that the twins were whispering. I gathered my bag and my schedule, and asked a prefect, "May we leave Breakfast whenever we are ready to?"

He nodded, "As long as you leave with the rest of your classmates, you may leave when you please."

I walked back to the first years, "Come on guys, classes start soon. Can't be late on the first day." They shrugged, and agreed, then we walked up the single flight of stairs, and walked into an empty classroom, that would have Magical Theory in it.

I sat down in the back corner, and Teddy sat beside me. Draco and Jaelah sat in the row to my right, and the other Slytherins dispersed throughout the rest of the classroom, eventually leaving all the seats full. Teddy looked at me, "Why did you insist on coming here so soon?"

I smiled, "I saved you all from some sort of prank from the Weasley twins. They were plotting something, I'm not sure what. You can ask another Slytherin next time you see them, or ask a Ravenclaw during herbology."

The shook their heads, not believing me. Ten minutes later, a teacher walked in, and so began the day of classes.

In my personal opinion, I realized I had been entirely too excited about this class. It was dreadful. The theory of magic.

Apparently, magic wasn't all discovered and many new questions arose, leaving magic being a theory.

I was going to die of boredom.

During my boredom time, I had a quill and a parchment, and began drawing. Who was I drawing? I didn't know. Not until my mind began filling in the detailing of the faces.

One was a little boy, no more than 6 years old. The person beside him was a 13 year old boy. I realized, that my mind had drawn my brother when he was killed. Beside the little child, what my brother should have looked like.

I looked at my paper concerned, the 13 year old boy, look familiar somehow. Maybe he just shared the same features as the younger version, but perhaps it was something else.

The parchment was taken from me, by Teddy. I glared at him, and he shoved the paper in his bag, right before class ended.

I stood up, "Theodore Nott! You better give me that paper back right now!" I quietly yelled at him, while putting my textbook away.

"Why should I? A picture of your boyfriend?" He teased me, as I reached for his bag, we were walking down to the doorway of the classroom.

"No. It's not." I said, straight forward, trying to get across that I was not joking.

"Ooohhhh I see, it's your secret lover. Vespera has a crush. Already on your first day here, and you're already dreaming about the other students." He waved the picture above my head, where I couldn't reach it, a side effect of being short.

"Teddy," we were in the hallway, almost to the doors to outside. "Will you please give me the picture back?" I stopped in front of him. "It's a picture of my brother."

"Really now? Why is it I don't believe you?" He pointed to the older boy, "If you're going to try to convince me that this is your brother, then why don't you explain why your brother doesn't have the same last name as you." He handed the picture to me, "There aren't any other Salazars that go to this school. Either you've lied about your lineage, you have a squib for a brother, or you're lying about who your brother is."

I glared at him, and put the picture in my bag, "It's none of your business." I then walked up the stairs, and walked faster, in order to catch up to Draco and Jaelah, the two I was more comfortable hanging out with.

When we reached the classroom, we walked in and sat down, waiting for the professor to enter. There was a tabby cat, sitting there, doing nothing.

Draco leaned over to me, "Think we should ditch class?"

I shook my head, "No Draco, a Slytherin does not skip class. A Slytherin uses their time wisely." I sat my transfiguration book on the desk, "A good Slytherin who doesn't want to get in trouble, would read chapter one of the book, and be prepared for when Professor McGonagall comes in, wondering what we've been doing." I nodded my head towards the cat, "That is probably her familiar. Familiars have ways of communicating with their human."

Then, every Slytherin in that room decided to take out their book, and read chapter one. Although, this book wasn't nearly as boring as the Magical Theory book had been. After 30 minutes of the class being passed, with just us reading the textbook, the cat meowed. We all looked up, then towards the door, expecting that McGonagall had come in. We heard another cat meow.

We all looked towards the front of the room, and watched as the cat jumped off the desk, and transfigured into Professor McGonagall. "Welcome First year Slytherins. I am Professor McGonagall. I must applaud you in reading diligently, while you believed I was out of the room. This is transfiguration class. You will learn how to turn a match into a needle as your first task, and we won't start this until your next class, doubled with the Hufflepuffs on Wednesday. Please, continue reading the theory behind the transfiguration, and ask if you have a question." She then sat down at her desk, and began writing something down on a piece of paper. I shrugged and continued reading.

After 15 minutes, I had finished the chapter, and raised my hand. "Yes Miss Salazar?"

"I was wondering Professor, what you would like us to do once we finished reading the chapter?" I asked softly, there was no need to be rude towards the teacher.

"I'm glad you ask now Miss Salazar." She stood and wrote on the board, using her wand to write. "Two feet long essay outlining chapter 1 with what you took from it. Due Wednesday."

She sat back down, and Draco began to groan, I kicked him under the table and whispered, "She could have made it 3 feet." Then I got out parchment and my quill, and began writing.

The class was an hour and a half, in combination of reading and writing some of my essay, I had finished half of my essay by time McGonagall dismissed us.

We all stood, and walked out, to lunch. "I can't believe she gave us 2 feet of homework! Why'd you have to even ask her Vespera?" Pansy was complaining.

"She was going to give it to us either way. By me asking her, it gave me 45 minutes to get half of my essay done, which is 45 minutes I won't have to be doing homework before Wednesday."

They shook their heads at me, then we all entered the Hall. I noticed that some Hufflepuffs were sitting with Ravenclaws, and Gryffindor with Hufflepuffs, although all the Slytherins were sitting together. "Do we have a specific place we have to sit for lunch?" I asked.

"No, but the Slytherins always sit together," an upper classman said, walking up behind us.

"Well, I'm going to break this habit. I'll see you guys after lunch." I then walked over towards the Ravenclaw table, and sat next to Sam, the guy who had been on the train. "Hello Samuel."

He turned and looked at me, "Hello Slytherin. What brings you here?"

I shrugged, "Slytherins are too stuck up. I figured I could use some pleasant company."

He smiled at me, "How did you end up in Slytherin?" He leaned forward and whispered in my ear, "Muggle born."

My eyes opened wide, and I stared at him, "Who told you?"

He smirked, "You just confirmed it, and I thought I had heard Fred saying something about it in his sleep over the summer." He grinned, "Ravenclaws know how to use their cards, we don't hold allegiance to anyone, and we ally ourselves with the smarts."

I stood up, and walked away. I began picking up speed, until I was running by time I reached outside the Great Hall. I needed to talk to someone, but no one would understand. Snape hated me, Fred accidentally told about me (and was in the hall still), Sam was terrifying, and the Slytherins could never know. I ran into the basements, and sat against a dark corner. I would just sit here, until someone found me, even if it would take forever.

I looked up and thought I saw some sort of light, and ignored it.

The next thing I knew, someone was poking me, and shaking me. "Vespera Salazar!" They said, over and over again, then picked me up, and I was being carried away from my spot.

What had happened? What time was it? Where was I? Why did it hurt?

I opened my eyes and looked up at the face that belonged to whoever was carrying me. I was shocked to see Professor Snape, the uncaring old man.

I closed my eyes again, and opened them when I felt myself being laid down. It looked as if I were still in the Dungeon, I looked around and had no idea, and I had never been in this room.

"Where am I?" I whispered, realizing it hurt to talk.

"You, Miss Salazar are in my private quarters, where you will tell me what happened and why you were not at your afternoon classes or at quidditch practice, or dinner." HE was very blunt and un-caring, I should have known he only wanted information.

"I don't know what happened." I sat up and felt a pain in my side. I put my hand over it, as a reflex, and felt something slimy. I pulled it away and saw blood. "Professor," I held out my hand, and his eyes opened wide. He immediately stood up and walked out of the room, and came back with 3 potions.

"Drink this one first, it will heal the wound." He handed me the first vial, and it was disgusting. "This one will replenish lost blood." I drank it too, shuddering at the rusty taste of it. "Finally this one, Calming Draught, you will not go into shock." That one too tasted horrible. "What is the last thing you remember?"

I looked at him and thought back, "I left the hall from lunch because Samuel, a Ravenclaw, told me he knew about the truth. Then I sat down in the dungeon to get away from people, and I saw a light, and I just ignored it. Next thing I knew, you were there." I looked down, "There was no one there."

Professor Snape stood up, "You are to go back into the Common Area while I discuss this matter with others." He then opened the door, and I stood up and left, just as the Slytherin Ghost was walking in.

I walked to the wall, and whispered the password, the walked in, only to be attacked by Flint. "Why weren't you at Practice? You missed the first one! If this is how it's going to be the rest of the season, you're off the team." He then walked away and posted a note on the board that read "SEEKER TRYOUTS TOMORROW ON THE FIELD IMMEDIATELY AFTER CLASSES."

I sighed, and continued walking, making note that I now needed to keep my broom hidden, as I was off the team, without even having a chance to explain. I sat down next to the fire, and was welcomed by Draco coming over, "Where were you? You weren't at quidditch, and never joined us for classes or dinner. You left lunch in a rush. Why didn't you tell someone?"

I shrugged, not feeling like talking and answering questions. I stood up, realizing I could have no silence, and went into the girls' dorm, changed into my pajamas, got into the bed, and closed the curtains (which I had found to be sound proof).

I laid there in silence, the ever lingering question.

What happened to me?

THAT'S IT.

CHAPTER 14 IS DONE.

I'll...maybe post more later :3
