Love is Blind

Chapter 13

Deadly decisions

Normal P.O.V

Eve, Elsword, Ophelia and Oberon wait outside of Apple's room. Wondering what happened and what the doctor might tell them. After an hour, the doctor came out of the room with a clip board in hand. Eve and Ophelia stood up with looks of worriment on there faces.

"How is she? Is she ok?" Asked Eve as her body shook.

"I'm, afraid she's in a very critical condition." He said. "She has Organelle-failure. Causing her major organs to slowly decay. I'm surprised she's lasted this long."

"She, has had it for a few years." Said Ophelia. Eve could feel her heart and time stop all at once. She could only stare in horror as the doctor continued to question Ophelia. "How many years exactly?" He asked. Upon starring, Eve's mind slowly droned away. Hearing only a sudden beat in her heart. The words started to repeat in her head. ''Years.'' Apple has been sick for years and she didn't even know it.

Ophelia obviously knew it. Oberon probably knows as well. Yet, how could she be so in the dark about it? Something so crucial, so important, passed off every single day she has been with Apple. Once the doctor went back, she dreadfully walked up to Ophelia, face of wide eyes and slight tears.

"You mean, you knew about this?" She asked, not realizing her voice was sounding so shaky. The maid in questioning, only stared with emotionless eyes. "Miss Apple, wanted to keep her illness a secret."

"From her own sister!?"

"She did not want to be a burden."

"We can save her..." Said the doctor, coming back. Eve faced the doctor with a glint of hope in her eyes.

"How, how can you save her?"

"With the right downer who has healthy organs. In the process, they would have to die, or be freshly dead. Not to mention that the downer needs the correct blood-type and body structure. . ." She quickly grabbed his lab coat and started shaking him.

"Please doctor, I'm her twin! I can give organs, right?" Pleaded Eve. In that instant, Elsword Jolted his attention, hearing the unthinkable.

"No, please Eve." He mentally thought. He wanted so badly to say something, yet he couldn't. It's was not in his place to say anything. He didn't like the idea of just being there for moral support. It ached in his heart. "I'm afraid I can not do that. Your under the age of 18 and are illegal for surgery." He said it, as harshly as ever. Though it seemed hopeless, upon hearing that, she was given a new idea. She would not have to be legal if her life was gone. Eve could do that, especially for her. She jolted away from the doctor and grabbed his surgical knife that hung on the right corner of his chest pocket. It was all happening so fast that know one could catch what she was doing in time.

Before they knew it, she was backed up toward an open window, knife held up to her neck, ready to slice in an instant. She gripped it firmly, making sure it would not budge.

"Please Miss Eve, do not do this." Ophelia said calmly. She was leaned freely beside the window. Ophelia, Oberon and Elsword, slowly walked towards her, trying so hard to think of the right words to say.

"Eve, please...you don't have to do this." Said Elsword.

"Yes I do. If I die, Apple can live! She can live, and be finally happy..." She said, now increasing the knife into her throat. A glimpse of blood spewed down her neck. It splattered onto the floor and flew out the window.

Pints were going by the second. They all looked in horror, not believing. This was it, Eve was actually slicing into her throat, bleeding out on the hospital floor for an instant kill, all to save her sister. A memory came back to Elsword.

"It's, just like when he died..." He thought. The exact scene, except this time, the one he saw was bleeding on purpose. She could still be saved. She's NOT a bleeding vegetable. He closed his eyes, clinched his fists and started shouting.

"Stop! Stop it right now!" With a sheer force of will, Eve slowly stopped. Now she was shaking like crazy. They both stared at each-other, crimson eyes mixed into golden ones. His face turned into an angry one. "Apple's not going to be happy without you in her life! What are we supposed to say to her if you go away? You sacrificed yourself for her to live? Do you have any idea what kind of bullshit this could do to her!? She needs you, here with her, right now! She can't pull out of this with out you! If your gone, this could cause her not wanting to live anymore, then what can you do!? Nothing, because then, you'll both be dead!"

Her eyes widened. So did the others around them. With Eve stuck in a shocked state, Elsword walked up to her and quickly knocked the knife out of her hand. It hit the floor, blood-stained and contaminated. Elsword slowly took her shaking hands and held them tightly. He mouthed the word's 'It'll be ok'' to her. Snapping out of there trances, The doctor quickly grabbed a first-aid kit and started applying it on her neck.

Elsword made sure to keep Eve's attention on him as her wounded neck was being treated. After they finished the patches, he took Ophelia and Oberon around the hospital to talk a bit more about the situation. Elsword held her hand and walked Eve to the nearest waiting room seat. Her in-embezzlement slowly went away as Elsword hugged her, wrapping his arms around her. He rubbed her back, whispering sweet words of nothing into her ear. "Please, don't leave, please don't leave. She needs you, she needs you." He whispered over and over, calming her down. Ophelia and Oberon came back with the doctor who told them to give it some time while he tries to find a miracle downer. Eve looked as he left, tears falling. She quickly got out of Elsword's grasp and stood up, staring angrily at Ophelia, Oberon and Elsword.

"Why?! Why." She said. Eve glanced at the knife she had that was now placed on a hospital counter. She ran toward it, intending to repeat the act of killing herself. Yet Elsword grabbed her hand before she could do anything.

"What?" She asked. He quickly dragged her into a close waiting room and closed the door, leaving Ophelia and Oberon outside. He slammed her body against the wall, trapping her. She hissed out of slight pain.

"What is wrong with y-" Before Eve could finish her sentence, he pressed his lips against hers. A bruising kiss that left only confusion in Eve's mind. He slowly backed up and looked her in the eyes, tears continued to fall.

"W-why did you do that?"

"To, calm you down. Your not thinking clearly!"

"I AM thinking clearly! I 'd rather die than have my little sister be dead!"

"Were you even listening to me back there? Please! Eve, stop it. You can't die!" He shouted.

"Look, I know your only trying to help but stop. Your speech was great, really! But I've had enough, you can stop pretending, you don't have to be here anymore. So go! Get away from me!" She shouted and tried pushing and punching Elsword away. He only stood there, solid as a rock.

"I'm not pretending, I do care! I care about you and Apple!" Her punches slowly stopped, she looked up, looking him in the eyes. Emotions swirled, tears could be seen shedding.

"Why? What is the reason for you caring so much? I don't get it! I don't get you!"

"It's because I love you!" He shouted. Eve's eyes widened. She stared, feeling as if time stood still. He quickly wrapped his arms around her slim body. Holding her tightly. The tears kept coming.

''It took me awhile to accept it, thinking I was feeling bad for you. Only pretending to have fun with you and Apple but, it was real. I really did have fun with you. I'm not faking this, I really...love you. So please, please Eve. Don't do this..."

Without a moments thought, she pushed Elsword back and nodded her head in disbelief. "How can you just tell me this and...!? Ah!" With that, she ran out of the room, pushing away Ophelia and Oberon as she made her way toward the hospital entrance.

"Eve!" Shouted Elsword as he ran out of the room and tried to chase her. Ophelia held his shoulder, holding him back. "She needs time." She said. Elsword sighed and slammed his fists into the hospital brick walls.

Outside of the hospital

In the dark night, the stars shine bright. The moon, a crescent shape. The girl of silver hair walks the sidewalk with heart-ache, confusion. So many emotions wrapped up in one that filled her heart, body and mind. What was she to do? She would do anything to save her sister, give up her own life even. Though, after hearing what Elsword said, made her first mind-set change.

"I love you." The words repeated in her mind. That voice, saying it over an over. Why won't it stop? She closed her eyes and sank down to the concrete. "Why, would you say that to me? Confusing me like this!" She shouted. She hugged herself tightly, thinking so hard. Shouldn't it be easy? 'I will give up my life for my sisters' easy as that! Though the words couldn't come out of her mouth. She opens wide, trying so hard to yell out the words, yet it was no use.

"Eve, Eve!" Someone was in front of her, shouting. Is it, Elsword? She slowly opens her eyes to see Add, still dressed in his tuxedo from the dance. Crying and all, she jumped into his arms. "Add! Please help me!" She shouted. He slowly pats her back, calming her. "Come on, we can talk in my limo." He said as he walked her toward the car next to the pavement. As they were in the limo, Eve broke down, explaining everything. Elsword's confession, Apple's complete vegetable state, everything she was feeling up to that point. "I realize that I might loose my life but, at-least she'll live.." She said, finishing up. There was a silence for the moment. Eve sulked her head down. Add slowly formed a smile on his face.

"Eve, I have an idea. If your willing to listen." He said. She jolted up, looking at him. "Huh?"

"I think I can find a compatible downer. In exchange for something." She could only stare. "What, do you want?" He grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her into a hug. He leaned his face into her ear. "I want you, to be mine. Love me, only me." He whispered, gently. She slightly pushed him away. "Add..." ''Eve, think about it. I can keep my promise to you and your sister gets to live, doesn't that seem quite fair?" He said coldly. Fair, Apple gets to live, he's making up for his promise but, what about Eve? What about her true feelings?

Is this something that would make her happy? Yes, seeing Apple alive and well would be so wonderful. Her choice's seemed so clear, yet unclear at the same time. What about Elsword? He just admitted his feelings toward her. That rang in the back of her head as well. What was she to do?

Back at the Hospital

"Hey! Elsword, I got your message,'' Said Elesis as she got off the elevator and walked toward the waiting room. She got messaged from Elsword about what was happening, so she was prepared when she arrived. "Sis..." Elsword said lowly, as she walked up beside him. Elesis patted him on the back for comfort.

"How is Apple, and where's Eve?" She asked as she looked at Oberon and Ophelia. Elsword sighed. "She left, she couldn't take much more." Elesis sighed. Not sure what to say, the doctor came back with news to tell. "It appears that she's stabilizing. For now, the machine is keeping her alive." He said. "Can we see her?" Asked Elsword. "She's partially awake but, yes you may visit her." He walked up to her room and slowly opened the door. Oberon and Ophelia walked in first, followed by Elsword and Elesis. Upon entering, what was across from them was Apple, lying consciously on a hospital bed.

"I'll, give you all a moment." Said the doctor as he closed the door. They approached her, the girl that's hair dangled freely. Her eyes slowly opened, a smile crossed her face as they all circled around her. "Oberon, Ophelia, Elsword and Elesis. It's, so good to see you all." She said weakly, but it still came out in her happy cheery voice. She sat-up slightly, looking around the room. "I guess, Eve's not here right?" She chuckles lightly. "It's just like her, she hates hospitals."

''How are you feeling?" Asked Elsword. She coughed a bit. "Like a lit candle, burning with wax down to the nub." They all dangled there heads in her shocked words. She giggled. "Come on everyone, it's not that bad. Eventually, my light will go out and you all won't have to worry anymor-" *SMACK! Upon instinct, Elesis slapped Apple across the face. Apple clutched her cheek and looked wide-eyed at her. Elesis glared at her angrily.

"I don't want to hear you talking like that. I don't care what disease you have, I don't want to hear that from you. You, who I always see perky as an innocent child. You, who shared fun times with me in the park. Our fun times together and all you can think about is just going away, thinking that will make us happy!? No! It's not a laughing matter!" She shouted, voice slightly shaking. Elsword walked up to Elesis, patting her gently. She kept her head down, not showing her facial expression.

"She slowly walked toward the door. "I'll, be waiting outside." She said lowly. With that she left the room, slamming the door right behind her. Apple now stared down at her unmoving body, face now filled with tears of water. Elesis had a point but, how could she stand strong? It shouldn't be to hard, doing it all her life but, this was it. The final turning point.

Staying strong was a bit on the ruff side even though Elesis was right. To remove the tension, Elsword started talking to Apple, making jokes about Eve and why she couldn't come. Of course not mentioning her suicidal attempt. The tension was removed slightly. After a chat and a hug from Elsword and a visit from Ophelia and Oberon, they started leaving the room.

"Oh and Elsword," said Apple. He turned around and looked at her. "Yeah?" "Tell Eve that, I love her." With that, a single tear sheds down her face as she puts on a weak smile. He nodded and closed the door. Oberon and Ophelia bowed to the doctor, saying thank you, then bowed to Elsword. Once outside, both families left to there separate ways.

Elsword sulked as he walked side by side with his sister. So much was on his mind, how he confessed his feelings for Eve, God did he feel like an idiot for doing that! She doesn't need to hear that kind of thing while her sister's on the brink of death! He clinched his fists out of anger. Yet, he didn't want her to just throw her life away like that. Though, what can he do? He want's to help Eve and not burden her.

"Um, Elesis?"

"Hmm?" Elsword scratched his head. "We'll, I told Eve how I felt. Now I have no idea what to do. The bad part is, I told her knowing what she's going through. What should I do?" He said in a slump. Elesis looked at her little brother, seeing the seriousness in his face. ''I say, you should stay by her side for support. She'll defiantly need it." Elsword sighed and looked up to the sky. 'Please God, help.' For the first time in a while, the crimson haired boy prayed in his mine. A miracle would be good right about now.

We'll, I hope this was good and suspenseful? Or perhaps leaving you in tears? I doubt it, but oh well~! I hope your enjoying! :3
