Chapter 16
Afterwords?
Eve sighed as she waited in the waiting room of the hospital. Ophelia, Oberon, along with Elesis sat beside her, waiting as well. Elesis bit at her nails, praying in mumbles. Eve looked over at all of them. Each looked in worriment. Wondering how Eve's surgery will hold and how
well Elsword was being healed.
After what felt like hours, a doctor came into the room, having a warm smile upon his face. "Miss Apple Altera, will live to see another day!" He said with a smile. Elesis and Eve smiled wildly, Elesis grabbed Eve out of her seat and squeezed her tightly. She spun around, screaming for joy and possibly ending Eve's life at the same time.
Eve gasped for air, making Elesis put her down. They then turned to the doctor. "Can we see her now?" Asked Eve. "Of course, in fact, she's been asking for you all." Said the doctor. They followed him to the room where Apple was relaxing. She jolted up in alertness when they walked into the door. "Apple!" They said in unison.
"Sis, Ophelia, Oberon, Elesis!" She said in response with a smile across her face. They gathered around her bedside. "How do you feel Apple?" Asked Eve. "I feel marvelous~! Now, when can I start moving?" She said as she stretched her arms out. "In about a week. After all, you did just have surgery." Said the doctor who was behind them.
Eve sighed in relief, seeing her sister alive and well. Tears of joy rolled down her eyes, still not believing that Apple was well and healthy. "Doctor, how is Elsword?" Asked Elesis. The doctors cheerful smile turned into a frown. "I, am afraid I have some bad news..." He said. Elesis looked at him in horror as her eyes widened. Everyone else did the same. "Is he...gone...?" Asked Elesis. "Oh no. We were able to save him! That much is certain but, his body went into cryptic shock."
He said. "Meaning?" "Meaning that he won't be able to breath properly for a while. I'd give it a year or two." Everyone looked at him in shock. "A year or two? You mean, to keep him in a hospital for an entire two years of his life!?" She said, almost shouting. "Yes, Miss Seighart, his inner ribcage was torn in and something was sharply lodged deep within it. Close to his heart. If he doesn't remain here, and walks outside like a day in the park, he could instantly die."
She looked in disbelief at the man. "Why can't it just be taken out?" Asked Apple. Eve quieted her. "It can be, leaving him in a shock-en state but I know you can't afford such a thing." Said the doctor. Elesis stubbed a toe into the doctors foot, making him yelp.
"Who said, we can't afford it?" She said bitterly. "I just assume because-" SLAP! It was hard, leaving a mark across his face. "I don't care, how much it costs. You do it so my brother can live a happy teenage life, do you understand!?" Her shouts echoed around the entire hospital.
The doctor sighed as she let go of his collar. "Fine, but it will cost such a family, without medical insurance, harshly." He said finally and left to do the procedure. "Stupid doctors." She said in a whisper. She sighed then rubbed her head. "How am I gonna pay for this?" She said.
Eve stood up with a smile across her face.
"I can help with that." She said surely. Apple looked at her in confusion. "How Eve?" She turned to her tiny sister. "Apple, I never have to steal again, and you never have to worry about anything ever again!" Said Eve in excitement. Even Elesis starred at the girl in confusion. "What are you saying Eve?"
"When Elsword came over and saved me from Add and his horrid butler, I learned something from his older brother who was trapped under the dungeon. Before he gave his organs to Apple." She stood tall and threw a hand into the air. "I, Eve Altera and anyone else of the Altera family, have inheritance of over billions of dollars~!" She shouted.
Elesis dropped to the floor, Apple's jaw dropped. Ophelia and Oberon nodded. Elesis then turned to said maid and butler. "Is she serious?" "Affirmative, the Altera families wealth was swindled from them and was now returned as in the will written from Mr. Altera, along with another will that was written from Arc Tracer. The two wills were written that anyone next in line to the Altera would glad-fully get the inheritance, no matter what age."
Elesis sank even further to the floor. "I, don't believe it..." Apple screamed and hopped out of her bed, glomping her older sister. "Apple, get back in the bed! You just had surgery!" Shouted Eve.
"How can I just relax when we have billions of dollars!? I want so many things! A jet pack, 26 carousels~! Non-stop fluffy teddy bears! YA! The possibilities are endless~!"
She shouted. "Nothing is gonna happen if your organs pop out of your body!" She responded back. Ophelia and Oberon helped Apple get back into bed. Elesis giggled at the sight. 'Happiness, there truly happy. Both of them,' she then looked up. 'Now, if we can just get my brother on the right track...' She thought, thinking about how Elsword's gonna feel.
After what felt like a week of surgery and healing visits, Elsword's surgery was successful, he just hasn't woken up yet. Apple was ready to leave the hospital. She was carried in a wheel-chair, Oberon and Ophelia were pushing her out. "I can't wait to eat ice-cream and yummy jelly sandwiches~!" She chimed. "Be careful miss Apple, your still not fully recovered." Said Ophelia. She huffed in anger while Oberon carried her from a certain point and placed her into the back of a limo. Elesis and Eve giggled at the sight as they stood together by the front of the hospital.
"So, you two heading off today?" Asked Elesis as she looked at Eve with a smile. Eve gave a smile as well. "Yep. She needs a vacation. Elsword's, waking up today?" Elesis nodded. "He's gonna be really upset that your not going to be there." She said. Eve smirked. "I know." She said and gave her a hug. Elesis hugged back as tightly as ever. "I pray you go and come back safely." She whispered. Eve nodded in response.
"Now, remember to at least call or something, alright?" She said. Eve slowly walked backwards toward the limo. "I promise, Oh! Almost forgetting something!" Eve dug into her pocket sides and pulled out a letter. She rushed over and placed it in Elesis' hands. "Aw, is it a love letter?" She mocked. Eve blushed and huffed.
"A-As if! It's just, a letter. Make sure he reads it when he wakes up." Elesis smiled and waved as the girl walked toward the limo. "It's a promise!" She yelled. The limo beeped three times and drove off. Elesis sighed and stared as the limo with colorful streaks went away. "I hope you all have fun." She thought. The long haired crimson girl huffed and looked toward the hospital, about to walk in until a thought came to her.
"Oh! Maybe having some more people being there for him, might cheer him up..." She said out loud. She took out her phone and made a phone call. "Hey Chung! You miss Elsword? I know you do, listen, he's in the hospital and needs all the support he can get, think you can help with that?"
Elsword's P.O.V
Dreaming. Seeing a dazzling place where the flowers bloom and the sky shines brightly. It's so, wonderful. I feel like the sky is singing to me. Am I dead? Is this heaven? It couldn't be, could it? I see someone, a guy in the distance. He looked kind of like Add, except, he had a different atmosphere around him. "Hi Elsword, you may not know me but...I must apologize."
He said. "Am, I dead?" He laughed gently. "No my friend. It's not your time." He said. We then walked around for a while. I looked around, yet everything was shining to bad to comprehend anything else other than the flowers. 'What is this place?" He laughed once more.
"It's nothing you need not worry yourself about. Just enjoy the scenery. Relax for the moment, and think of the ones you love." I stopped and thought about it. The ones, I loved. The ones, I loved? Who, did I love? He patted me on the back. "Go on, name them out loud." He said. I close my eyes and start to see images. At first glance, I thought it was my life, flashing before my eyes.
Yet it was not that at all. I saw images of other people. I know these people. "I love, Elesis. My older sister." The first picture I see as she looks happy, cutting up bread in the bakery. Another picture forms. "I love Chung, my dearest friend since birth." An older image of us both, throwing a ball around in a sandbox. "I love, my other friends. Ara, Aisha, even Raven and Miss Rena." A huge amount of pictures form of them in the play.
I heard the guy laugh loudly. "Is there anyone else you see?" He asked. I thought about it, keeping my eyes closed. Who else am I missing? Who else do I love? "Go on, it's OK to say it." He said. I sigh and huffed. He was right, one more image appeared, yet it was so blurry, who could it be?
It got slowly closer to seeing. It was a girl. No, two girls. Both having long flowing hair. They reminded me of two glowing lights in a dark night storm. Who are they? "Go on, reach for the picture." I throw a hand out, trying to grab the picture, I want to know them. As it got closer, one of the girls became clear. Her hair pink as a lovely rose. Of course. "I, love Apple. A girl who is joyful and feels like a little sister to me."
"Yes, now. What about the last one?" The last one. The other girl, crystal and sparkly. She's so cute. Her eyes, golden like an ember. Her hair, long pretty and silver. Who is she? I know her but, what about her is it that I actually know of her? Wait no, I know a lot about her. A girl who acts tough. She cares for others. Her heart glows brightly, like a light guide to a boat.
I know so much about her, she loves eating. Favorite color is blue and she loves spending time with her family. She's so vibrant. She could never hide it, no matter what. I remember her name. "I...love, Eve..."
"Wow. He looks dead." Said a familiar voice. "We already lost Eve, we can't lose him too!" Shouted another voice. "Your all so stupid! He's clearly breathing." Echoed another voice. "Now now you three, please don't cause a ruckus..." said a soft voice. Each voice sounded so, familiar. Who could they possibly be? I slowly open my eyes and look around me.
"Elesis, Chung, Ara, Aisha, Raven and Miss Rena?" I said as I stared at each one of them. "That's right dude!" Said Chung as he punched my arm. It stung a bit since it was the one with the needle in it. He got slapped by Miss Rena for that. "Can't you see that there's a needle in that arm?" "Sorry Els." I shrugged. "No biggie."
"How are you feeling?" Asked the tall Raven. "Like, a heavy dumbbell." I said as I dangled my arms to the side. They all laughed at me. I chuckled. "Well, welcome back to the living. Surprised to see us all?" Chimed Chung. "Hek yeah. Also, what happened to me?" They all frowned. "You mean, you don't remember?" Asked Elesis. I scratched my head. "It's kind of blurry..." I said.
Aisha jumped high and slammed her hands onto my cheeks. "You better remember! Because of you, we may never see Eve again! How are we supposed to find her if we can't start somewhere to look!?" She shouted. I jolted up which threw her back to the floor.
"Eve's missing? Where did she go? What happened!?" Elesis then gave me a good smack on the head. "Ouch!" I say as I glare at her. "Relax little Romeo, same for all of you," She said as she looked around the room. "Eve and her sister are on vacation and won't be back for a while." The two girls awwed. "Are you serious Elsword's sister?" Asked Ara sweetly.
She nodded. Vacation, during a school year? Like, is that even legal?! I start to get up yet Elesis quickly presses me down. "You just woke up! You can't just start moving." She said. I rolled my eyes. "Oh come on, at least we should all get a group hug, am I right?" They all looked at me with widened eyes. "Dude, are you sure your still awake? The Els I know wouldn't even think of joining something so mushy!" Spouted Chung.
I shrugged. "I just woke up, feel like I deserve something for that." I said. Then with a force, they all gathered around me and hugged me. These people who were known as my friends. After that, the doctor came in. "Alright, I believe it's time that Elsword got a bit of rest." He said. Everyone took there time and left, each saying goodbye to me.
The last one to leave was my sister. She gave me an envelope, laying it on my bedside. I looked at her in confusion. "What is it?" "Read and you will find out." She said with a wink. As she also left, along with the doctor, I stared at the letter. I picked it up and looked over it. It only reading;'Too Elsword.' Who could it be from?
I tear it open and find a piece of paper inside. I start to read it...
'Dear Elsword,
If your reading this, that means that your finally awake. That also means that, I'm finally gone. I write this letter in thanks, thank you for trying your best to save me. I'm sorry you got wrapped up into this. I admit that, you surprised me with the words you said. They still echo in my head. Anyway, you don't have to worry about me or Apple anymore. She's healthy, alive and jumps joyfully on her own two feet. I'm glad she can, it's such a miracle that it makes me believe in the almighty above.
I hope we get to meet again soon. Me, her, Ophelia and Oberon are taking a vacation. No stopping, not even sure when were gonna be back but, I do promise we will come back. I pray that whole in your chest doesn't sting to much. Oh and I left a bit of money for you and Elesis! Don't even worry about repaying.

I sigh as I read the last line. "Eve..." I slowly get out of bed and walk toward the window. I can't help but gaze at the sunset like sky. So many questions came to mind. I do remember finding Eve and battling Add but, I lost. How did I possibly save anyone from the fact that I was dying by a sword piercing my chest?
Then after that, everything else was blurry, what happened then? Did I pass out from blood-loss? It's obvious I didn't die but, what were the screams I heard when I did pass out? Everything is so...troubling, trying to remember. However, no matter what question I have, theres this feeling inside of me that tells me they will be answered.
I smile up to the sky. Knowing Eve will tell me all about it when she gets back. I crunch up the letter. "I'll wait Eve. No matter how long it takes."
I know, I suck at writing letters. _ Anyway, hope your loving it~! :3
