Chapter 17

Blind to Love

Half a year or so later Normal P.O.V

A while a go since Eve's and Apples departure, The school of Elrios hasn't been the same for Elsword Seighhart. Surprisingly, he's been doing better in school, making up for those missed classes and has stopped his bullying streak permanently. He even came home early and cleaned the bakery, all just for his sister Elesis.

Strangely, Raven, Chung, Ara and Aisha became his new-found friends. They hung out after lunch and during lunch. Even on weekends, playing in the park and going to other fun places. Even miss Rena who was only their drama teacher. They found out that she hangs around the park almost everyday.

They would always surprise her. Though they all had fun, there was always a moment of reminisce for Eve. Wondering how she was or even why she couldn't call anyone. Elsword knew, or at least felt like he did within his heart. She was off adventuring, seeing the world with Apple and her guardians.

He would have done the same thing in her position. He only prayed that no matter where she was, she was safe. This is what he prayed for every-night. Yet he never suspected what would have happened on the day of his graduation.

Elsword's P.O.V, morning until the graduation

"You look great!" Chimed Elesis as she fixed my collar. I looked into my mirror with disgust. "I look like a nerd from the 70's!" I shout as I look at the pocket protector on my side of this God forsaken white preppy shirt. The preppy pants and shoes made it look even worse!

"Aw, don't be like that! Here, let me put on your graduation vest." She says as she fetches it from my bed. I huff and stare at the mirror. Still not believing it. I made it to 12th grade and am getting my diploma in the process. Officially a graduate. Sure, it's kind of late. I'm right along with Chung and his class but hey, I made it, still partly being a teen. 20 years old. Reaching a mile stone.

When Elesis came back, she placed the jacket and cap over me. She looked into the mirror, right along with me. "You, I 'm so happy you grew out of that Mohawk. I didn't like it." She said. I frowned as I look at my new found long and spiky crimson hair. "I liked it." I said. "I used to have this 'bad boy' image, now people just laugh at me." I said as I glared at myself in the mirror. Elesis giggled.

"Well, anyone would giggle at the guy who was beaten up by a girl." I rolled my eyes. "Don't remind me! That still follows me around."

I said. I then sigh as a couple of memories came back to my mind. Even then, thinking back on it, I guess I kind of liked Eve right from the beginning. Elesis sighed and hugged me. "I know, you miss her." She said lightly. I couldn't argue with that. I do miss her, a lot then I realized when she was gone. I huff and slowly walk out of my room while Elesis lets go. "You heading out already?" She said. "Nah, just for a drive." I say and rush downstairs and walk towards the car.

Yeah, that's right. I'm finally able to freaking drive. A driveout is always nice when I think about Eve. It's better than freaking crying, that's for sure. I drive by around the places we used to hang around. The park, the school, hell I practically drove around town. The last place I visited was the bakery. I park the car near it's alleyway and walk toward the window.

Huh, feels like just yesterday that she robbed it and I chased her down. I look through the glass window. We closed it down for today, since it's such an important one. I stare for a moment, dreaming off until I realize something. "I bet it needs a sweeping at least." I open the door with the key and walk inside. I grab a broom and start sweeping. Seriously, what am I doing? I'm in my graduation stuff and I just wanted to come to this old bakery to sweep?

I sigh and continue to do so. Maybe it'll take away this awkward feeling I have. No, it's not awkward, it feels kind of, empty. Like a black whole that I just can't fix without someone else to help fill it. Whoa! Why didn't I take poetry class? That was deep. CLING! The doorbell rang, someones coming in. Huh, I should have locked it.

"I'm sorry, were closed." I shout. I keep my head down and continue sweeping, until I heard the footsteps of that person. There walking up to me. "Oh well, I could just steal when you leave. Right?" I stop sweeping and drop the broom. That voice, no. It can't be...can it? I slowly look up and see her. Her hair is long, her eyes of emerald gold shine brightly. Her smile gives off a warm feeling.

Her fashion, still the same; rags and jeans. She points at me with widened eyes. "You got rid of your Mohawk! Trimmed your hair even and grew back that darkened spot. It looks good." She said as she nodded her head in a cool fashion. "Eve..." I said as I slowly approach her. She holds up a hand and waves it like I'm far away. "Hey Els-oof!" Before she could finish what she was saying, I pulled her into a hug.

"Eve! Eve! Eve!" I shout as I swing her around while hugging her. "Yeah~! E-Elsword, please calm down~!" She said in gasps. I slowly place her down and let her breath. "Sorry, I just missed you so much..." I said, feeling kind of embarrassed. Her face lit up like a cherry. She lightly punched my arm. "Y-You don't have to look all red about it..."She said shyly.

I laugh and place a hand around her waist. "Yeah? Well you should expect someone that cares for you to worry and miss you." I said as I held her. She gave a small smile, steel looking shy. "ELSWORD!" We both turned to see the hyper active girl, dressed in pink to match her pink hair. Before anything else could be said, she tackled us both to the floor.

"Elsword, Elsword~! Big brother, I missed you so much~!" She chimed as she practically pushed Eve out to the floor just to get to me. Her small like body clings onto me. "Apple! That hurt!" Shouted Eve in anger. "But big sister, I can't help it, we haven't seen him since forever~!" She whined. I chuckled and hugged Apple back as I ruffled her hair. "Hey, it's ok Apple. Oh and I'd love to hear where you all went for vacation." I say with assurance. Her big pink eyes started to sparkle. Oh God, what have I done?

Eve's P.O.V

"First we went to France and ate almost every dish imagined! Then we went to Spain and wrestled with the bulls! After that..." I huff as Apple goes on and on about our traveling. Seriously, she never shuts up! And that's just the way I like her. I smile at the cheerful sight as Elsword glances at me, whispering 'Help me.'

I salute him and mouth, 'Your on your own.' He frowns and smirks all at the same time. Apple then grabs his face and makes sure that he was paying attention. I giggle. Ok, maybe I could help him a little. "Oh Apple? You know who else would like to hear about our adventures?" I said sweetly. She practically gasped and dropped Elsword in the dust.

"Elesis! There's no time to waist!" With that, she left out of the store and headed back to the car with Ophelia and Oberon. I assumed she somehow convinced them to leave without me, cause the next thing I knew, I heard tire cars screeching from outside. "Well, someone's cheery." Said Elsword as he stands tall, holding a hand out toward me.

I smirk and grab it as he gently pulled me up. "She never changes." I say as I shake my head. "You know, you haven't changed either. Except, your hairs longer. It looks nice." He said. I gag and laugh. "Are you kidding? It's all the way to my feet. It's like Rapunzel hair." I said as I placed my hands through my thick hair. "I don't mind, so long as I can climb it to save you." He says smoothly.

I paused as he had a glistening look in his eyes, slowly placing a hand on my cheek and caressing it. "I really missed you..." I heard him say. My eyes widened as his face grew closer. He placed a kiss on my cheek. It felt sweet and soft. He slowly backed away and quickly let go of me. His face now reddened as he looked another way.

"I'm sorry! I just..um..." He started saying awkwardly. I blinked, now completely remembering that he said two words that stopped me from even thinking about something I would have regretted doing. I blush and keep my head down. Come on Eve, think of something. Change the subject! I slowly look him over, realizing that he has his graduation cap and gown stuff on.

"So, today's the big day?" I question loudly. He looks up at me. "Huh?" "You know," I said awkwardly as I circled my finger in the air. "Graduation?" A slight smile formed on his face. "Yeah, I'm kind of shocked in honesty." He said. I got close and punched his arm. "Are you kidding? That's awesome!" I said with a thumbs up and a wink. He laughed and started walking toward the back. I slowly follow.

"What are you hungry for? Apple pie? Blueberry muffins?" He questioned as he started searching through the cabinets. "I would but, don't you have the graduation to go to?" "It doesn't start til my watch starts to beep. I set an alarm. Besides, you just got here." He said as he laid a plate in front of me. I stare, wondering if he remembers what happened that night, or, at least if he wanted to remember.

It's just, how do I bring it up without it sounding random? I bit my lip and started thinking. "You had me worried you know. Taking off like that. Leaving me with just a letter," I paused and listened. Shocked that he was bringing it up. "I admit, I really don't remember much of what happened that night. You were in chains, Add and I battled with blades. He won and the rest was a blur. Next thing I know, I wake up in a hospital and your gone."

I remained quite. Silence filled the room as he started placing the breaded sweet goods on my plate. "Sure, a lot of questions came up into my head. Yet the only one I wanted to truly know is, what happened that night. Eve, can you please tell me?" He asked, this time he looked at me, staring with seriousness in his eyes.

I slowly nod. With my plate full of muffins, he walked over and sat down beside me. I sigh and open my mouth wide to talk. RING! RING! His watch went off."You can tell me in the car. Come on!" He said as he hopped off the seat and took my arm, dragging me out of the bakery. My muffins! No! "Jesus Elsword! What about locking it!?" I shout as I rush over to the side of the car. "Right, right!" He quickly locked the door and then came back to the car.

He slammed his door shut and we drove off quickly. I looked at the time on his truck. It Reading; 6:30pm. I clinched onto my seat-belt as his truck felt like a speeding bullet. I closed my eyes, clinched my hands together and started praying.

SCREEECH! That's what I kept hearing as I kept my eyes closed on the road. "Hey, were here. You ok?" I hear Elsword say. I slowly open my eyes and look around. Oh thank God, we made it here in one piece! I sigh and breath deeply. Placing a slight smile on my face, I look at him and nod.

"I think so." "Sorry, I haven't really mastered driving yet." He said. I applaud him. "No, I admit I was scared to death but at least you got us here!" He chuckled and got me out of the truck. "I better get to my place in the line, are you going to watch?" He asked. I smirked. "Maybe. Just go and then well find out." I said. He nodded and started running off into the football field of the school.

Once he was out of sight, I stretched a bit then sat down in the back of the truck. I watched the sunset go down as the stars came out. I decided that, I'll surprise everyone when they come out of that giant field of shiny bright lights. To pass the time, I continued to stare, feeling like hours started going away.

"Mom, dad, I pray your both in a better place. You both will always be loved." I said.

Once those words were said, I heard cheering just outside the field. Apparently the class graduated and each one started leaving. I waited, knowing full well that Apple, Elesis and Oberon along with Ophelia are just bound to come around the corner. Shockingly, they all did. Not just them, but Elsword's friends as well. Ok, there my friends too. They all jumped me in unison.

Ara and Aisha were the closet along with Miss Rena, Chung and Raven. Nothing but squishing hugs and babble. As soon as that was over with, they all split up and went out to a pizza joint. I was going to walk with them but Elsword stopped me by grabbing my shoulder.

"Come with me, I've got something to show you." He said. I nod. "OK." I said. We hopped into his truck and drove off to who knows where. I look up at the sky in wonderment. Thinking if this is awkward for Elsword, me being around him. Wait, shouldn't I find it awkward? He was the one that said those word's. Yet, as I think about it now, I don't know what to think of those words.

"Hey, were here." He said, snapping his fingers in front of my face. I jolt out of my daze and look around us. "The, beach?" I said out loud. "Mhm, pretty cliché huh?" He said as he got me out of the truck. I weakly smile. "Just a bit, yet it's still pretty sweet." I said. We both walked up close toward the ocean, hearing it roar as the stars arose. I slowly sat down in the messy sand.

I stare directly at the stars. I feel Elsword sit right next to me. "It's pretty, isn't it." He said. "Yeah, each star shines so brightly on their own." I said. A few moments of silence merged around us, until he started speaking. "I still don't remember what happened." I looked at him and then looked back up to the sky. I huff and start to open my mouth once agian.

I explained everything. How Add was crazy and trapped his older twin brother. How he and his dad single-handedly killed mine and made my entire family bankrupt. By the time I finished, I could see Elsword's eyes widen. I wonder did he catch it all or what? He quickly wraps his arms around me, holding me tight.

"I'm sorry. I did nothing to help at all. If anything, I was merrily in the way." He said. I jolted up and pushed him down. "How can you say that!? You tried to fight a mad guy with blades! You tried so hard, you could have won if Add didn't cheat. So don't say you were useless, you tried saving me and that's what counts!" I shout. He slowly forms a smile and starts to laugh. "What the hell is so funny!?" "It's just that, seeing you care so much, makes me feel happy." He said. I scoff then pout. "Well of course I would care, why wouldn't I?" He slowly took my hands and looked at me, eyes burning like a furnace.

"Cause, it shows just how much you care about me." My eyes widened. "I love you Eve. I still do. Though, my actual question is, do you feel the same way?" That's when, I felt it. My heart started skipping beats. I felt, this sudden soft and warm feeling inside of me. How, do I feel about Elsword?

Do I, really, feel the same way? I look him dead in the eyes. They un-change, staying with the same fiery passion. "This, is the part where, you say something." He said. "I, really don't know what to say." I said. He frowned. "Tell me how you feel right now." I close my eyes. "My heart is beating really fast, my head feels like it's floating. I have this odd sensation in my stomach and-mff!"

I quickly jolt my eyes open, feeling soft lips pressed against mine. Elsword was kissing me. Suddenly, all those emotions made sense. Every thought I was thinking, every odd feeling I was feeling. I was, in love and this was my wake-up call. He slowly backed up and clinked our heads together. He had his eyes closed. "So, is your answer clear?" He asked.

I slowly smile. "Yes." "Well?" He said teasingly. I pushed him gently. "I love you two, you goof." I said while slightly smiling. Our heads grew apart as he pulled my lips in for another kiss. He then let go and dropped to the sand. I slowly crawl next to him. Now we both looked up at the stars together. "So, I heard Apple's version of the world, how about yours?" He asked.

"Well, I admit it was fun. Though it had it's ups and downs." He smirked. "What could possibly have been a downside to being wealthy and traveling to other countries?" He said. "You weren't there with me. You or Elesis. I'd see it all again with you by my side." I said. Not realizing what I said, Elsword's eyes looked at me with slight tears.

"What? What did I say?" I asked in confusion. He shook his head vividly and slicked his hand around my waste as we lay on the sand. "You liar." He said. I smirked and nuzzled into his chest. "Oh and on that note, I've decided that I want to be a hero." "A hero?" I nod. "Yep, someone that helps get homeless people off the streets and helping out orphans in orphanages. I don't want to just give up money to those places, I want to use the money in person for myself to help."

I felt a softness on my head. Another kiss from him. "Yeah, I'd travel with you anywhere." He said. That was the last that I heard of his voice as the stars twinkled above us, while we slept their on the beach. It finally all clicked into my head that night. A lot of thing's in my life came off as harsh. I was blinded by the fact that my parents did love me, blinded by the fact that an old friend was crazy. Even now, at my happiest moment. I was blinded, blinded by love. I guess it goes to show, love is blind, right?
