A yawn filled the otherwide empty house. It echoed and bounced around, and eventually turned to the well-known silence. Covers shifted, and the small figure of a man stood out of the bed. He was skinny, almost skeleton-like.
"Jerome? Where'd you go?" Mitch asked, sounding much like a kid looking for their gaurdian. He shuffled through the dark house, searching high and low for his lost love. No lights were on through out the home, or any indication that they even worked. Cobwebs and dust covered almost everything.
"Jerome, this isn't funny! Just come out here!" Mitch yelled. A small pout found it's way on his face. He crossed his arms and stopped over to the dirty couch. He sat down, folding his legs under himself. He picked up the battery-less remote, and tried to turn the TV on, which obviously didn't work. He stared at the blank screen for hours, and even laughed a few times. Afterward, he clicked the power button on the useless remote and got out of his seat.
"Maybe he went out," Mitch mumbled, bummed out. He made his way to the kitchen. His stomach growled as if on que, and he looked inside the fridge. It was completely empty.
"We'll have to go shopping sometime soon," He noted, closing the door. He sighed, boredom taking him over. He didn't want to do anything without Jerome; he'd feel bad if Jerome wasn't apart of the fun. But, it's been hours that Jerome's been gone. He was starting to get worried, since he left without any words.
He found himself wandering outside, the sun shining brightly. The little house was in the middle of the woods. Large trees surrounded it on all signs. The outside was worn down from weather and age, the color had faded to an off-brownish. Shingles had fallen off the roof and were now buried under dirt somewhere.
"Ah! Jerome, there you are!" Mitch smiled and walked over to a large stone.
'Here likes Jerome Aceti,
beloved husband,son,and friend.
He will be missed
4-23-14'
"I've been looking for you all day, and you're hiding out here!" He giggled, "Well, c'mon, we've gotta got to the store."
He walked off into the thick trees alone.
In case you didn't understand what happened, Mitch has gone insane ever since Jerome passed away in an accident. In his mind, Jerome is still there, the house is in perfect condition, and he is sane.
Short thing that I thought of last night when I was trying to sleep.
A new, longer story will be out as soon as I type it up! But that won't be too long!
