Saving up for a plane ticket was hard. Especially when you only work a part time job three days a week. Even so, Mitch had miraculously made enough money to buy a two way ticket to the states. He'd be going there for a week to see his boyfriend of seven months, Jerome.
They had met online, and this would be the second time they'd meet in person. After talking about it, they decided that Mitch would visit Jerome the 30th, and they'd spend the New Year together.
Mitch was a few minutes away from boarding the plane. In a few hours, he'd be reunited with Jerome. He texted the Jersey man that he was getting on the plane.
"see you soon, biggums. ;) -Jerome 3"
Mitch smiled at the reply before tucking his phone into jean pocket and made his wait to the terminal. He boarded the plane easily, finding his row and placing his carry-on in the luggage compartment above the seats. He settled into the seat, thankfully it was a window seat, and waited for the ground outside the airplane to move. The pilot said something over the intercom, but Mitch wasn't really paying attention.
Seconds later, they were rolling down the runway and taking off. He relaxed in his seat, closing his eyes. Mitch was a man of many talents, and sleeping was very high on the list. He planned to spend the short time on the plane sleeping. And that's exactly what he did.
He woke up to the pilot saying that they were descending, and that there would be minor turbulence. He stretched as much as he could in the confined airplane seat, trying his best not to hit the elderly woman in the seat next to him. Out the window, he could see the plane going below the clouds and landing on American soil.
Soon, he was being ushered off the plane. He grabbed his carry-on and made his way to baggage claim. Once he found his suit case, he headed to the exit of the airport. He was pleasantly surprised to see Jerome waiting for him. He had to stop himself from sprinting toward his American boyfriend, reminding himself that he was a grown man. That didn't stop him from rushing to the slightly younger man.
They didn't even exchange words before Mitch was in Jerome's arms, the Canadian's bags dropping to the floor. No one seemed to notice, though.
"I've missed you so much, biggums." Jerome whispered into Mitch's ear. The older of the two buried his face into Jerome's neck and smiled. They had to break away, though, before they made a scene because Jerome was about 3.2 seconds away from pushing Mitch against a wall and making out with him until they both couldn't breathe.
That didn't stop him from doing just that once they got back to his apartment, though. Breathless, red-faced, and filled with euphoria, they collapsed on the couch.
"You're lips are really soft," Jerome stated once he regained his breathe.
"So are yours. I could kiss them forever." With that, Mitch gave Jerome another peck on the lips before snuggling close to him.
The rest of the night consisted of cuddling, eating, watching bad Netflix movies, and just enjoying each others' company. Skype was a great way for them to communicate, but it will never be as good as being able to touch each other. Blowing kisses at a computer screen was nice and all, but being able to make their lips connect for real; it made them forget about everything. All the months waiting was worth it. It made them feel complete.
The night ended unceremoniously by the two crashing into Jerome's bed, sleepiness taking over them. They fell asleep in the matter of minutes, Mitch curled up next to Jerome, and Jerome's arm laying over Mitch
.
Mitch woke up in the early afternoon. He wandered out of the bedroom, which was only occupied by himself. Jerome was a few feet away, in the kitchen. Mitch snuck up behind him, wrapping his arms around the American and resting his head on his shoulder.
"Good morning, sleeping beauty." Jerome hummed, turning his head so that he could peck Mitch on the forehead. The Canadian man leaded forward more to connect their lips in a short, but sweet, kiss.
They spend most of the morning gaming: COD, Halo, Minecraft, other random games that Jerome had collected over the years. It was nice. Their gaming was interrupted by a growl from Mitch's stomach.
Mitch smiled sheepishly, excusing himself to go to the kitchen. He made himself a bowl of cereal and made his way back to the living room.
Around four in the afternoon, the two decided to go to Laser Tag. The building wasn't far from Jerome's apartment. They spend an hour running around, shooting random people with fake guns, and it was fun.
That night, Jerome surprised Mitch by taking him out to dinner at a fancy, Italian restaurant. Thankfully, Mitch had brought nice clothes.
"You didn't have to do this, Jerome." Mitch said. They had already ordered and now were waiting for their food.
"I wanted to, biggums! We've been together for seven months. Those months have easily been the best of my life."
Mitch found himself blushing deeply, and his heart began beating faster in his chest. Jerome rested his arm on the table, careful not to knock any of their drinks over. Mitch took his hand into his own, holding it tightly, but not tight enough to cause pain.
"Mitch, I love you." Jerome admitted. It felt like Mitch's entire world froze. It was the first time either of them had mentioned the three little words to each other. Mitch had been wanting to say it for months, but he wasn't sure if it as the right time. He honestly wasn't expecting Jerome to say it.
"I love you, too." Mitch breathed out after a few moments of silence. Jerome gave his hand a squeeze, and Mitch squeezed back. They were lost in each others' eyes; Mitch's shining caramel ones, and Jerome's dark, chocolate eyes.
"Ahem."
The two men were snapped out of their thoughts by their waiter, who held their food on a metal tray. Both men felt their faces heat up as they removed their arms from the table.
They found themselves standing in front of the TV. Midnight was rapidly approaching, which meant the New Year is just minutes away. The channel was set on the news, where Time Square in New York City was being filmed. Thousands of people gathered around to watch the ball drop, signaling the New Year.
"Here we go!" The TV announcer said. Everyone on screen began counting down from ten, the ball beginning to drop.
"9!"
"8!"
"7!"
"6!"
"5!"
Jerome turned to Mitch and connect their lips. Mitch melted, opening his mouth so that Jerome could explore it with his tongue. The counting continued to blast through the speakers.
"2!"
"1!"
Screaming filled the apartment, though it wasn't from the two men. Their mouths were still connected, kissing each other deeply. They pulled away when they were both out of breath.
"Happy New Year!"
