"Why do we have to go to this thing, anyway?" Levi asked, calling from the bathroom where he was combing his hair, towards the bedroom where his wife, _, was getting ready.

"Because, Levi, they're honoring you. And it's only right to go!"

"I don't want to be honored." He grumbled. "I just want to stay here with you." He finished what he was doing and walked into the bedroom where _ was looking in the mirror fixing up her hair.

"Come on, Levi. It'll be fine."

He went behind her and put his arms around her waist, looking at her in the mirror.

"At least I get to show you off. You look beautiful."

"Aw. Look at you being nice."

"I'm always nice."

_ turned around in his arms and put hers around his neck, placing a soft kiss on his lips.

"Most of the time." She replied jokingly.

Levi removed one arm from her waist and reached into his back pocket, pulling out a small, velvet box and handing it to her.

"For you." He said quietly.

"Levi? Why would you-"

"Because I'm honoring you." He said jokingly "Because if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have made it this far. And because I love you. Now open it."

She took the box from his hand and opened it up. Inside were a pair of _(favorite stone)_ earrings. She looked at the jewelry in awe, her heart warmed at the thought that Levi remembered the significance.

"My mother's parents never liked my father, they didn't approve of the marriage."

"So how did they end up together?" he asked

"They ran away and eloped."

"Wow. They never struck me as the type to do that."

"Yeah. She once told me about this pair of _(favorite stone)_ earrings that had been passed down for 5 generations. When the oldest daughter got married, they were supposed to get the earrings and pass them down to their daughter. When mom ran away, she didn't get to take them. She always felt sorry about breaking that tradition and not being able to pass them on to me."

"I thought you could start that tradition again." He said

"Levi…" she whispered, looking up at him. "That's so thoughtful of you. I can't believe you remembered that."

"Hey, I'm listening." He said with a small smile.

_ leaned in and kissed his lips gently. "Thank you."

"Anything for you. Now let's go and get this shit over with."
