Here you were. The wedding night. If you were being truthful, it was the part of the day you were least looking forward to. Everyone knew what happened on the wedding night. And honestly, you didn't know if you were ready. But there you were, wrapped up in his arms, your lips engulfed in his, his shirt already on the ground. Not that you were paying any attention. Your mind was on another planet. A planet where you and Levi weren't within inches of losing your virginity. Of course, this didn't go unnoticed by Levi.
"_," Levi whispered, stopping the kiss but leaving his lips on yours. "What's wrong?" he asked breathlessly.
"N-nothing, Levi. Nothing is wrong. What could be wrong?" you sputtered out nervously.
"Well it's definitely not nothing." He responded, pulling his face away from yourss, but keeping his arms around you. "Come on, _, you know you can tell me."
"I'm just… scared." You whispered.
"Scared?"
"I've never done this before. And I don't know if I'm ready and I know that's crazy because we're married now and it's my responsibility to be ready for you and it's so unfair to you but-"
"Stop right there." He halted you. "It is absolutely not your responsibility to be ready. It's not your job to please me. You're my wife, not my slave."
"But Levi, I don't want to disappoint you…"
"I would only be disappointed if you pretended it was okay when it wasn't. Look, _, I don't want to take you, I want you to give yourself to me. That's what this is about. I don't want to make love to you because I want to feel good; I want to do it to show you how I really feel about you. To give my all to you."
"But it's wrong of me not to be ready to give myself to you. I love you, Levi. I love you so much but… I'm afraid."
"It's okay to be afraid. I'm afraid too. I have no idea what I'm doing. It just want to make you happy. But the first time has to happen for us to have a second time and learn to be stronger in it together as time goes on."
"What if it's bad."
"No matter how bad it is, I'll always cherish it as the first time. And because it was you." He responded, cupping your cheek with one hand, the other still around your waist as you sat in his lap. "The last thing I would ever want to do is pressure you into something you're not ready for. You don't have to be ready. Not now, not tomorrow. When you are, though, I'll be with you. I'll take care of you and make sure you're okay."
"I'm sorry…" you mumbled, laying your head against his chest.
"No more of that." He whispered, running his fingers through your hair. "There's no need to be sorry."
The two of you sat for a moment, wrapped up in each other's arms, your head on his chest listening to his steady heartbeat. It put you at ease to be so close to him and to know you could trust him like this. You knew he would always take care of you, just like he said.
"Levi?" you whispered.
"Hm?"
"I'm ready. I trust you."
