I stared lazily at the clock waiting for class to be over. Finally after a few seconds it rang. I got up, collected my things from my desk and slowly walked towards the door, but not before bumping into a girl who was also making her way to the door. "Ah! Sorry..." I dragged out the 'y' as she continued to walk, completely ignoring me, as most people do. I walked towards the cafeteria. Lunch was the only period I shared with Alfred, which was good since no one would bother me, not like anyone ever did. It was also nice spending time with him, besides when he's talking, more like shouting, about heros, or when hes pestering me about school and homework.

I reached our usual spot before him this time. Our usual spot was the table right next to the emrgency exit, which many students used to ditch school. I sat down, letting my backpack fall to the ground. I pulled out my book and waited for alfred to arrive. I stared at the book in front of me, failing to notice Alfred sneak behind me. "Boo!" He screeched in my ear. I jumped dropping the book and flinging me arm towards him. Fortunately he ducked before my arm made any contact.

"Dang Mattie! Why are you trying to hit me?" he asked. I sighed "Alfred! How many times do I have to tell not to sneak up on me?" I complained. I reached down and picked up my book from the floor. "Hahaha! Dude you're just to easy to scare!" He said. I sighed as he started rambling off about superman and other heros, my eyes drifted to the cafeteria door. I watched as a future appeared, slowly making his way to the lunch line.

His large build contrasting with most of the other students, his pale blond hair and pale skin shined brightly. He wore a thick sweater and a pale pink scarf that he never seems to take off, even for gym. I stared at him as he looks around, probably think about something to do while he waited. He turned his eyes towards me , his purple eyes sharing deeply into mine.

I gasped and quickly turned my head, my face heating up. 'He saw me! He saw me staring at him! Oh man! He probably thinks I'm a weirdo!' I thought to myself. "Mattie! Dude are your alright? You're not sick are you? Your face is all red!" Alfred said, stating something I already know. "Hello Alfred, Matthew. How are you today?" I flinched at the thick Russian accent, snapping my head up, making contact once again with purple eyes. "I-Ivan...fine and you?" I asked quietly. "Hey! You're ivan right?" I heard Alfred asked. I looked at him shocked. He had a scowl on his face and eyes burning with determination. No one had ever talked to Ivan that way. Most were to scare and intimidated by him.

"Hmm?" I turned my gaze back to Ivan. His face showed interest and wonder. "Da, your father called me yesterday, asked about tutoring. For you I'm assuming." He said with a smile that could give you nightmares. I heard Alfred grunt at him "Listen here, bud. Just because you're tutoring me now does not mean we're friends, so don't get to comfortable!" Alfred said, trying to give off a masculine vibe. Ivan giggled "Da, I wouldn't expect more; unless, you want to be friends." He said. Alfred growled at his comment "You think you're real funny, don't you?" He said standing up.

He was a head smaller than Ivan, I noticed. "Oh! Ivan why are you bothering them!? Eh!?" I turned my head to the arrogant voice. Gilbert was making his way towards us. Gilbert was the gym teacher here at the school. He was loved and admired by many students here, mostly the female students. He was friends with papa and dad, a family friend I guess you could say. "Gilbert! How's it going man?" Alfred greeted him with his usual lopsided grin that a lot of girls fawn over at this school for some reason, completely ignoring Ivan, which I could tell irked him.

"Alfred! not much! How about you birdie?" he asked me. All three of their attention turned to me. I blushed quietly replying with a "I'm fine." Alfred and Gilbert turned to each other, but Ivan for some reason continued to stare at me. I looked at him, my heartbeat racing. It continued like that for a few minutes before he turned to Alfred. "Well then, I'll see you after school, Alfred." He said with a smile and walked away. "Hmmm! Man! He's so annoying!" Alfred saI'd, sitting down. "Yeah, tell me about it." Gilbert said, sitting down also. " Yeah, I used to date his older sister." He said "kat."He finished.

"Kat? As in Kat the health teacher? The one with the big boobs?" Alfred asked in disbelief. " Yeah, we went on a few dates. At the time Ivan was still in middle school, so I didn't know about him until she invited me to dinner at her house, and let's just say it didn't end well." Alfred whistled "man, that sucks." Was all he said. "Ivan hated me, him and their little sister. Together they can create hell!" He said "But, like, whatever! It's not like it's something as someone as awesome as me couldn't handle!" He cheered.

He and Alfred let out a loud laugh. I sighed resting my head on the table. I pulled my lunch out my backpack and started eating. I stared at Alfred in questioning wonder. "Alfred aren't you going to eat lunch?" I asked. I noticed he stiffened and let out a laugh "I already ate!" He said simply. I looked at him confused, but ignored it. Alfred was never one to lie.

As Gilbert and Alfred went back to conversing, I couldn't stop the nagging feeling pulling at my heart. When Ivan stared at me, something in his eyes just seemed so...

..Broken.
