There was a rattle at Riley's door as he opened her eyes. "Lucas" she coughed
"How did you know" he said
"Just guessing" coughed Riley
"Still sick, I see" said Lucas with a smile.
"Yep" said Riley "This has been the worst day yet" Riley said "I think I have the flu instead of strep throat" she said
Lucas placed a bowl of soup in front of Riley "I know how much you loved in yesterday so I had my mom make it again for you" he said
"Thank you, Lucas" said Riley as she put a spoonful of soup into her mouth.
"You are always welcome, Riley. No need to thank me" said Lucas
As Riley had her soup, Lucas cleaned up her room for her. "Don't you ever clean this" said Lucas as she put a few things in the wastepaper basket
"I've been sick" said Riley
"I know" said Lucas "I was just kidding
Lucas started to vacuum Riley's room when the phone rang.
"Hello" said Topanga on the other end
"Hello" said Lucas "I am just looking after Riley for you"
"Well thank you, Lucas" said Topanga "Has she eaten anything"
"I bought her over some soup" Lucas replied
"That was very nice of you" said Topanga "I haven't gotten her to eat anything it seem"
A few minutes later Maya showed up at Riley's window.
"How you feeling" Maya asked "I've missed you in school"
"I've missed being there" said Riley
Maya noticed Lucas when he came in Riley's room. "So Cowboy is here with you" said Maya
"It is nothing Maya" said Riley "Lucas just came over to see me just like you did"
"Ok" said Maya
"Get me something to drink Maya" said Riley
"Of course" said Maya as she headed downstairs
"Are you still running a fever" asked Lucas
"I don't know" said Riley
"Lets take your temperature again" he said
Lucas put the thermometer under Riley's tongue
"She is still running a fever, Lucas" said Maya when she came in.
"One minute" said Lucas
When the thermometer beeped Lucas read it. "You are still running a fever, Riley" said Lucas
"How about some movies" said Maya as she pulled some out of her bag "Always helps when I'm sick" she said
"Sure" said Riley
"And how about some more Vicks" said Lucas
"Sure" said Riley as she coughed as Lucas rubbed some Vicks on Riley's feet and chest "This should help you"
"How about a glass of orange juice" said Maya
"That should help her" said Lucas "We need to get Riley back to school because it isn't the same without her there"
That afternoon with the help of Lucas and Maya, Riley did end up feeling a little better than she did and the next morning she was so happy to be able to go back to school.
"I still need my tonsils out" said Riley "but that won't be for a few months now" she told Lucas as she stood by his locker "Thank you for taking care of me yesterday" she said
"I wouldn't have done it for anyone else' said Lucas "and I mean it, Riley"
