"What is it? It's midnight." I ineffectually rubbed the sleep out of my eyes; I had finally gotten to sleep after hours of panic filled internet searches. I was really beginning to miss books.
Rachel stood in the low light of the porch in a hoodie I had picked out for her at the mall. "This might sound really weird, or really not weird it depends." She spoke with a kind of powerful seriousness that took me by surprise for a second.
"Okay, but are you okay?" I asked though in the back of my mind I already knew what had happened.
"She's fine." Came a familiar voice from behind Rachel.
"Wally." I breathed feeling adrenaline pump through me. I slammed the door hard and began to run back to my room, though it was futile and I knew it.
"Violet." Wally said blocking my way on the stairs. "Why are you running?"
"You already know!" I yelled frantic. I pushed him aside and slammed the door to my room shut, leaning against it I felt a weight that i had been free of for the past month replace itself on my shoulders. Why did I want to break the spell again?
"Violet we aren't going to hurt you." Wally said staring at me with those gorgeous eyes of his. The ones I had decided to hate.
I could hear a mingle of Robin, Starfire and Raven's voices behind my door. I heard their feet stomp up the stairs and I moved away from the door just a second before they broke it down.
"Jinx, what did you do?" Raven's once friendly features were glaring at me.
"How could you think that I'm the one who did this?" They had me backed to a wall, helpless.
"You're the only one powerful enough, besides me, to pull something like this off! Now, it's falling apart if you don't tell us where the anchor is we'll all be stuck here!" Raven was furious. She was scared.
"It wasn't her, I already told you." Wally said protectively.
"It was Cretor obviously; you should know that better than anyone." I told her. She looked at me passively but agitated.
"Bottom line, we need to find this anchor thing." Dick cut in on I and Raven's stare contest.
"I don't know what it is." I said calming down. "I don't know what spell he used, if I knew the spell then I could find it, but without it—"I trailed off unsure of how to finish the sentence.
"So we just need to find the spell. That is easy?" Asked Starfire hopefully.
"No but it's a start." Robin said all leader like.
"Well then you get on that." I hoped they would leave at that but they didn't.
"Aren't you going to help too?" Wally questioned hopefully.
"I'm a villain." I said it slowly so he had time to process. "I don't help heroes. I don't befriend heroes." He looked at me with puppy dog eyes but I turned away only to see a guilty looking Raven.
"How long have you had your memories?" She asked.
"All along." Her dark eyes widened with cold realization. She looked like she had murdered me. She looked like she regretted it.
"Let's go." Rachel muttered before leaving with Starfire and Robin trailing behind her.
"You don't have to be a villain." Wally shut the door on his way out with a soft click, and that's the last thing I remember before my mind was drowned with memories.
. . .
"You learned magic?" I picked up a skeptical eyebrow and threw it his way but he wasn't discouraged.
"Okay look at this." He did some mumbo jumbo and materialized a rose. "And" Then ice patterns materialized across the delicate scarlet petals.
"Oh, you learned 'magic'. What else could I expect from you?"
"That was magic!"
"Sure Leo." I giggled. "Anyway I'm busy. Tell your sister I say hi."
. . .
"Leo? What are you doing here?" The high 5 base was eerily quiet.
"I figured it out Lucky. I know how I'll get you back." He had a crazy look about him, but I didn't think much of him, I should have taken him seriously though.
"You aren't getting me back Leo. I already told you."
"Just come with me Lucky we can start over new!" It was late I was annoyed.
"No, just get out of my house. You're creeping me out."
"Just come on Lucky." He lunged for my hand and I slashed the air with pink. In a second he was slammed into the wall.
"Get out of my house." I said turning to leave. Gizmo and Mammoth had been woken up by the noise and stood in the doorway. "Get rid of him." I could hear him in the hallway struggling to get free.
"Jinx I didn't want to have to do this! But I will, just wait!"
"Shut up pit-sniffer." Gizmo spat.
"You'll regret this! I'm going to cast the Ultionus Curse! Then you'll believe me!" The words made me stop for a second but I didn't think he could actually achieve it, of course I was wrong.
. . .
"The Ultionus Curse, he at the very least could have picked a more believable spell." The Ultionus Curse required a living anchor to be stable, someone the caster felt some extreme emotion for, and used dark magic to create a whole miniverse inside of a parallel pocket universe. I wasn't sure if I could even keep it stable.
"That idiot."
