Guard POV

Lady Natasha's cold stare was blank and icy. My hands trembled slightly as she cocked her head, causing her long hair to ripple slightly.

"For what reason exactly, am I being bothered about this at all?" she breathed quietly.

It was a dark hour and the birds had ceased their song, the sun beginning its slumber. Her majesty was taking her nightly tea in the dining room and I had been chosen to inform her of the strange woman lurking just beyond the royal court's boundaries.

I coughed, gaining volume. "Your Highness, the woman has been dancing circles around the guards. She's very quick and she's spoken little to us."

"Go on." She looked up from under the tea cup, narrowing her eyes slightly. "You have not answered my question sufficiently, Mr. Dasser."

"Well, I've been sent because she asks for you specifically. She says she has a message to deliver." I stuttered.

The tea cup met its saucer forcefully and I flinched. Our Lady has been known to smite guards for the most miniscule reasons. I was aware of her palpable anger growing and I surely didn't want to be near her when she reached her limit.

"The purpose of having guards and an army is so that I don't have to deal with such admirers and insane threats. Kill her." she shrugged simply.

"Your Majesty." I protested, earning a sharp glare. "When she did speak, she said the Drake family had done a great injustice and preformed an act of treason against your reign."

"Have they now?" she whispered to herself. Her entire demeanor had transformed. Her Majesty was smiling slightly, a sight rarely seen by myself. "Retrieve the woman and contain her within a cell, unharmed. I wish to speak to her."

"Of course." I bowed and scurried away.

It took only fifteen minutes for me to rally a group of capable warriors and caution out into the outskirts of the court. "Our Lady Natasha has agreed for a hearing of your accusation. Shall you come willingly, of your own accord, or will we be forced to retrieve you?" I bluffed. The woman had already teased my guards, beyond their reach for who knew how long. I doubted I'd have any more luck with her.

"There isn't any need for that." a voice chimed, from within the darkness of the trees. There was a pause for several seconds until she emerged. Her blonde hair created the illusion of a halo around her face. She was smirking, twisting her lovely features making me think she was nothing but trouble at best.

"At ease, men." I signaled to the tense guards behind me. I didn't blame them. The innocent looking woman held a dark, dangerous air about her that was unsettling to say the least.

Nobody spoke for the following moments as we restrained the woman, who revealed her name to be Cassandria. She only scowled at the handcuffs that were laced with silver, enough to prevent them from breaking but not injure their wearer. "A precaution, I'm sure you understand. After all it isn't everyday one is allowed to be in the presence of our queen herself." I muttered, as we lead her into the prisoner chambers.

"As her majesty enters, you bow form the waist. If she speaks to you directly, hold her gaze directly. Refer to her only as you highness, or your majesty, and with the utmost respect. Understand?"

Cassandria frowned deeply. "If I must."

"Another thing, Cassandria. You might want to take that scowl off your face. Our queen isn't as disregarding as I, so it'll do you good to remember that." I warned. It seemed she took my advice because as soon as Lady Natasha entered the room she followed my instructions and kept an impassive face.

"I only have about twenty minutes of spare time, I would appreciate you not waste. Now, tell me all you know of this so called act of treason." She demanded.

The next hour consisted of heavy discussion. Lady Natasha questioned Cassandria rapidly, to which Cassandria answered to the best of her ability. As it seemed, the woman was sure the youngest of the Drake family, Solange, had struck a deal with Montmarte to snare the thrown. Throughout the entire interrogation, Lady Natasha's smile only grew.

She resembled a feline on the prowl, about to pounce on an insignificant canary. There wasn't a doubt in my mind Her Highness would cease to hunt until she had eliminated the threat to her crown.
