December 1st 2023 – Floor 40 Wasteland Dungeon

Aiden tried his best to hold off six different fighters at the same time, if his evasion wasn't so high he wouldn't be able to. Occasionally glancing back to check on Sten and his fight with Yohara, he mainly worried for his frightened friend. Kaori was helping fight, but only to a point of blocking. And every block took a small portion of health away. He needed to figure something out quick. As a man lunged at him with a spear on one side another came at him with a mace on the other. He couldn't dodge them both, so he went with the weaker weapon and took the spear's stab, into his side. Checking his health it was down to yellow, but he swore he would get his friends out and he would do it. Aiden grabbed the spear that was stabbed into him and rolled over it, kicking the wielder of the item hard in the head. The man fell to the ground slightly disoriented. As he looked up a massive hammer came crushing down onto him, only his scream remained, echoing through the halls, as his body burst into polygons. Everyone seemed to freeze as they all looked over to Kaori, who was now shaking from what she just did. Suddenly, two girls jumped in between the fight and stopped it all.

"Oh please let us get involved, it's been a while since we've been able to kill." One of the girls said, leaving a terrified look on the larger groups faces. Unfortunately this only pissed Aiden off even more.

"If you threaten my guild like these fools did then I'll take you down just like them. Nobody hurts my friends and lives. I suggest you choose a side or get out of here. Either way, if you want to live, stay out of my way!" His stance intensified and a green aura began to form around him.

"Nene, this guy is serious. He's got a green icon too. He didn't start this." The girl with the large cleavage said.

"All of these guys have green icons too Ryo." Aiden took a small step back.

"Wait a second. Ryo? Nene? As in the Femme Fatale's Ryo and Nene?" Nene turned to face him.

"Oh that silly name? The people gave us that. Not much to my liking though." Nene smile only dropped for a second as she expressed her opinion.

"I don't care who we have in front of us. I'll kill 'em!" The man with a mace swung it at Nene as her back was turned. Before he could connect she had spun around, thrusting her pike right at the mans neck. And with a slight jerk of the hand, it came clean off. Red data bits flew out, followed by a burst of blue polygons.

"Oh that was fun!" Nene jumped up and down in joy. "Who want's to fight me next? Please somebody?" If it wasn't a straight death wish, Nene's voice could actually sound cute. Aiden's arms dropped to his side after what he just witnessed. The sheer brutality of the attack, followed by the happiness to jump was a terrifying sight indeed. The group was now down to four fighters, and quickly lost their moral to fight. As if one conclusive thought ran through their head, they all bolted away.

"Come back you cowards!" Yohara yelled at his fleeing squad. Shifting his attention long enough for Sten to capitalize. He knocked Yohara to the ground and held his scimitar down to his throat. Aiden walked over to him.

"Now. What to do with you." Aiden asked rhetorically. Nene and Ryo stood in place watching the event take place as Aiden pressed a foot down in place of Sten's scimitar. Yohara began to panic well knowing that the foot on his neck was going to end him.

"...Nii Nii..." A feint voice called out. Aiden turned his head to see Kaori standing up and slowly walk over to him.

"Ka-chan..." Kaori's face was vacant, a part of her definitely left her that day. She looked down to Yohara, who's fear was prominently displayed.

"Let him go." Kaori's kindness to the man shocked everybody. Sten took a step towards the young girl.

"Kaori are you certain?" He asked her. "I mean, he tried to kill us. We shouldn't let him go so freely."

"I'm with Sten," Aiden joined in. "he needs to pay for what he's done to us. For what he's done to you." Aiden's boots pressed harder on Yohara's throat and he let out frightened whelps. Kaori crouched down next to Yohara, whispering in his ear. Nobody could hear what she said except the man. His eyes widened and he shook his head as violently as he could manage. Kaori pat his head and stood back up.

"Let him go. He wont bother us again." Yet again, shocking the group around her. Aiden tried to argue with her.

"But..."

"Now." But Kaori cut him short. He sighed and grabbed Yohara by the gaps in his armor, picking the man up he looked into his eyes. After a second Aiden made a noise that sounded like a twig breaking and jolted his head to the side, signaling the man to leave. Everyone watched as he ran down the hall, into the darkness.

"Now then," Aiden turned back to Nene and Ryo, "I guess we owe you a thank you and perhaps much more."

"Don't mention it, but we know of a way you can repay us." Nene exchanged a glance with Ryo, then fixed her gaze back on the guild. Aiden crossed his arms, a more serious look on his face.

"That depends, don't get me wrong, we're grateful. But we've kind of had a busy day. What do you want?"

"Simple." Ryo said without skipping a beat. "We want your help beating the boss. We already found it. But it's stronger than the two of us can take on." Aiden tilted his head slightly, eying the girl.

"So you think the five of us are more than enough then? What do you two think? Are we up for it?" Aiden asked his friends.

"It's only fair to repay them now." Kaori's voice was coming back to her normal tone. If there was one thing she excelled at it was repressing dark events so they don't affect her that long. Aiden nodded to her and looked over to Sten. He immediately sighed and dropped his head. Sten was staring yet again, looking over to the girls and slowly shimmied over to them. He broke their comfort zone and grabbed both of Ryo's hands.

"I would do anything to help this beautiful angel. She's so daring wearing such exotic clothes, despite the awkward stares she fights like a ferocious tiger. Would you want to go on a date some time?" During the speech Ryo's soft face, turned into a cringe worthy one. The irritation didn't seem to drop as she threw a hard punch into his stomach, dropping the man to the ground. Aiden snickered at the interaction.

"You really did deserve that. We don't even know their names and you're already ruining your friendship with them." Sten crawled over to Nene and looked up, unknowingly looking straight up her skirt. He couldn't help but smile, not for long though. He soon felt a hard kick in his side, sending him a few feet from them. The culprit this time was Kaori.

"Baka pervert baka pervert baka!" She alternated while yelling at the man. Nene's hands covered her red face from the others.

"Oh my oh my, maybe this should happen some other time." She said through her hands. Aiden stepped forward and bowed several times.

"Forgive him, he's a good guy, but most times is just a bastard." This time, Aiden found himself on the floor. A fist came down on the back of his head and dropped him hard. He quickly stood up, holding the back of his head.

"Ow you crazy bitch what was that for?!" Nene threw another punch at him, only to miss. She smiled at him menacingly, halting his frustration.

"Don't swear in front of me please!" Nene clasped her hands together in a pleading fashion. The look was so sweet it couldn't be rejected.

"Hai." Aiden complied with her request. "Then I guess we can get moving. Sten! Stand up you fool! We're moving." Aiden and the girls walked off as Sten slowly crawled behind them.

"So, Nene and Ryo, thanks again for saving us. We're a small guild called the Jade Skull. Name's Aiden, and that's Kaori. You've had the unfortunate meeting with Sten already." Aiden pointed to each person as he introduced them, with the twins eyes following. Nene smiled at the giant.

"I see. Well Aiden-senpai, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"You don't need to add the senpai. I appreciate it though."

"But you're older than me, and I respect you. So I shall call you Aiden-senpai. Okay Aiden-senpai?" Aiden figured it was easier to accept it than change it. So he sighed and nodded slowly. Nene cheered a little, the new source of energy wasn't something Aiden was used to.

"Great! Now we can focus on killing the lizard!"

"Dragon." Ryo corrected her sister. Nene began to fake cry to herself.

"Oh sister Ryo bullies loving Nene ever so."

"You two are an interesting duo." Aiden quietly commented on the events taking place in front of him.

"We're here!" Nene yelled as the group halted next to a wall with a jewel in it. Aiden walked up, completely befuddled.

"How in the world did you find this tiny thing?" Nene didn't bother to answer she simply placed her hand on the jewel and the door began to open. Once they could see inside they saw a small figure fighting against the dragon. They bolted around the room, evading majority of the ancient creatures hits. The small group watched in awe as they leapt above the creature and slam his long dagger downwards, ending the creature. The person stood up and turned to face the group that was watching. They finally got a good look at the figure. They wore what looked like a black and white ninja outfit. The black hood hid their hair color, as the white face mask only revealed the persons blue eyes. The flat black outfit was decorated with white stripes running in an "X" pattern across the chest. Their figure was slender and gave off a feminine appearance, something Aiden took note on was the courser above their head. It wasn't green, but orange. Either a PKer, or just another bandit.

"Well little girl, aren't you impressive. Did you fight that well when you went against another player." The person seemed uncomfortable by the statement and held their dagger up in a defensive fashion.

"Interesting." Aiden noticed as well. "You're not attacking us, but instead preparing to defend yourself? Why?" The figure lowered the blade a little and spoke through their mask.

"Because you're acting like a bully. I didn't mean to get this courser." The group looked at each other, confused, yet very curious.

"What do you mean? It's kind of hard to 'accidentally' get that courser." Sten asked the person. No longer okay with their current setting, the person took a few steps back and vanished.

"Where..." Sten's voice trailed off, matching the current thoughts of the group. They looked to the other side of the room and noticed the treasure chest had yet to be opened.

"That kids level must be high if they took the boss themselves." Sten commented once more, as Aiden walked over to the chest and kicked it open. He sighed and pulled the item out.

"Well this sucks. None of us use daggers, other than the experience we got, this was pretty pointless." Aiden spun the dagger around in his hand. Everyone saw, it was an odd dagger. Two horns came out of the hilt, making it look like a demons face. The blade itself was split down the middle, most likely to catch and block other blades. A good and rare dagger. But to no use for everyone else. He tossed it over to Sten. Who in turn caught it easily, and began appraising it.

"S'name is called "Devil's Assassin" cool. I'll sell it for a good price and send you two a share of it." Sten winked to Nene and Ryo. Nene smiled and thanked him while Ryo simply sighed.

"Or another idea." All eyes diverted over to Aiden. "You two aren't in a guild. And after helping us today, this is easily the best way I can show my thanks. Would you like to join our little guild? You would get a private room to yourselves." Aiden smiled and Kaori clasped her hands together with sparkling eyes. Ryo and Nene exchanged a glance, having the exact same thought.

"We will discus it tonight and let you know tomorrow. Okay Aiden-senpai?" A notion that was easily the most logical one could see. Aiden agreed and sent the girls friend requests to keep in touch. Their silence wasn't to long, as a familiar figure came back into play, just behind Aiden. The guild turned around and saw the small ninja, kneeling on one knee down.

"Oh look who's back. What do we owe the pleasure of this time?" The ninja shook a little, trying to get a hold of the words needed. After some stumbling around they said it.

"I want to join your guild."

"EHHH?!" The guild said together. Despite his face being mostly covered, the group noticed the small ninja's face turning red at the reaction. Aiden crouched down in front of the ninja.

"I'll make you a deal. Tell us why you have an orange marker. Then, my guild and I will discus if we want you to join us based off your answer. Sound fair?" The ninja nodded and stood up. Pulling down their hood and face mask, the guild was in shock yet again.

"Wait! You're a guy?" Sten asked the boy, causing him to blush at the embarrassing question. He ignored the comment and began telling the story of why he was orange.

"Unlike most of the kids in this game, I wanted to be useful. I was looking for groups to party with for a long time, but nobody wanted a kid. One day a man came to me and asked if I wanted to join him in his guild. They seemed like ninjas as well, wearing dark cloaks and using daggers and poisons. He convinced me that this world wasn't a death trap that it was still a game. Once I believed him, he had me poison somebody..." The boy avoided everyone's eyes, as he got slightly choked up.

"Do you still think this is "just a game" boy?" Aiden drew the young ninjas attention, responding with a fierce head shake.

"Have you taken anothers life out of any reason other than self defense or the defense of others?"

"I-i've never t-taken a life ever." The stuttering response left Aiden cocking his head.

"Well then. That settles that. Welcome to the Jade Skull." Both Aiden and the ninja stood up with large smiles, but as quickly as they did the ninja dropped to one knee and bent his head.

"Thank you for this opportunity my lord! As your personal ninja I will not disappoint you."

"Eh? My lord?" Kaori called. She peered at the ninja behind Aiden's leg, as if it were a wall.

"Okay so you take your ninja roll seriously. That's fine I suppose. But what should we call you?" Aiden asked scratching his head.

"You may call me whatever you wish my lord. The rest of your subordinates may call me Sora." The boy, Sora, had informed the group.

"Did he just call us subordinates?" Sten and Kaori asked in unison. Aiden turned and felt an uneasy pressure from the two behind him.

"Now now you two, we're all in the same boat now. Let's all play nice." The guild leader tried calming the opposing force down.

"Aiden-senpai?" He looked over his guild mates and saw Nene standing alone.

"What's up Nene?"

"I think Ryo likes your newest guild mate," Nene pointed to Sora, who was now being coddled by Ryo.

"Sooo Kawaii!" Ryo said, referring to the extremely embarrassed Sora.

"We were going to talk about it tonight," Nene continued, "But I think it's safe to say we accept your offer and will join your guild.

December 20th 2023 – Floor 35 Mishe – Jade Skull Guild House

The Jade Skulls guild house looked like most of the buildings on the thirty fifth floor. A wide two story building that had six windows on the front side, three on the ground floor and three parallel on the second floor. It's large single green door led straight to the guild merchant shop, then running up the stairs eight doors to different rooms sat across from each other. On the right side, closest to the stairs it was Kaori's room first, followed by Aiden's, then Sora's and Sten's at the end. Where as on the left side, Nene's room ran across from Aiden's. While Ryo's ran across from Sora's. The guilds house was great, all except for the noise it generated.

Aiden stood behind the counter of the shop in their house, head resting on one hand while the other tapped on the counter. He was trying to do what he could to ignore the shouting above him on the second floor.

"Baka! I told you to keep out of my room! Pervert!" Kaori voice called out.

"Kaori please baby I love you! Don't be so quick to throw me out!" Sten's voice came as well. Aiden had already stopped Sten twice that morning, so now it was just tiresome to continue on.

"My lord." A voice said to Aiden, under the counter where he stood.

"Eh?... Sora, what are you doing under there?"

"I'm guarding your vulnerable points. Why do we not punish Pervert for attacking Runt?" Aiden sighed, grabbing Sora by the scruff of his neck, as if he were a puppy and placed him on top of the counter, rather than under his legs.

"Well I stop Sten, not pervert, everyday. But he's more adamant about it today for some reason. And Kaori, not Runt, can handle it even better than I can."

"Hmm I see, well-"

"Wait no!" The sudden change in vocal patterns caused Aiden and Sora to look up at the ceiling. "What are you doing? Put me down! Don't really throw me out!" Aiden shook his head at the sound of Sten screaming.

"You said you want in! So here's a quick tour of the room! Oh look at that! The tour's over! But it's the best part! The window!" If it wasn't for the sound barriers of the guild house they would probably get a harassment warning. Aiden heard glass break and a series of short girlish screams. He looked out the front window, watching, as Sten fell and slammed into the ground outside of their manor. He got up and came through the front door, dismissing the harassment prompt.

"Hello and welcome to the Jade Skull Mercantile, how may I help you today?" Aiden teased his fellow guild mate.

"Oh shove it you giant ass." Sten said rubbing his back as he stepped up to the counter across from Aiden.

"My lord, you do know this is Pervert. There's no need to welcome him." Sora's naivety made Aiden release one of the largest sighs known to man and lightly hit his head on the counter top to emphasize it. He decided to just give up with the young ninja and divert his focus back to Sten.

"Sten please just give up with her. I'm getting worn out from stopping you. I can't imagine how Ka-chan feels." Aiden said with his eyes closed as Sten dropped his head onto the counter, practically replacing the formers. "Besides you'll never get anywhere with her. The sooner you accept that the easier your life will be." Sten shot his head up and slammed his fists onto the counter top, startling Aiden enough to cause him to open an eye.

"I can't give up on her! She means everything to me!"

"I don't see why you like Runt. She's gross." Sten, moving in the blink of an eye, had Sora in a headlock.

"You take that back! Kaori is beautiful! Besides, you're smaller than her so your nickname for her is hypocritical!"

"Hippo-what?" Sora asked through the hold.

"Ahhhhhhhh gahhhh!" Sten groaned, dropping his hold on the boy, sending him crashing to the ground.

"Now that's funny, you don't even know her real name do you?" Aiden leaned in and smiled at his merchant friend.

"Why is everyone picking on me today? And that's not fair, it's rude to ask real life information in here." Aiden shrugged at his friends defense.

"I beg to differ. This is our life now, we should embrace it, in the event we can't escape it. So we might as well know some stuff about each other on the other side too. Wouldn't you agree Arsten?" Aiden tried convincing his friend by using his real name. "Shhhhh! In here it's just Sten!" The silly man tried climbing over the counter and covering Aiden's mouth. Before he could even get one hand on him, Aiden placed his entire palm on Sten's face, pushing him back onto the ground next to Sora. Aiden ignored his friends groans and thought about the femme fatale's of his guild.

"By the way, have either of you heard anything from Ryo or Nene?" Sten looked over to him blankly as he stood back up.

"Couldn't tell you. Ryo never says anything to me. Just keeps calling me pervert." Sora followed him up and read through a message.

"Nene says their on their way back. Should be here in a few minutes she said." The ninja explained to their guild master.

"Well as long as they're back before Christmas. We wouldn't want to start the party with out them would we?" Aiden stood up and began walking away from the counter, over to the stairs.

"Huh? What are we doing anyways?" Sten asked his guild leader as he resumed his normal position behind the counter.

"I'll tell you when everyone's here. Or do you really want me to repeat myself four other times?" Aiden jested with his friend. Sten crossed his arms and shook his head.

"You're annoying sometimes ya know that?" Aiden simply nodded and peaked his head up stairs.

"Oi Ka-chan! Are you almost done? Why are you so slow?"

"You know she's only going to yell at you for that, right?" Sten warned him. He could hear some foot steps above him then saw Aiden's face change to shock and quickly divert his eyes.

"Ka-chan put some clothes on! Why are you in the hall like that?!" Aiden yelled, causing Sten to leap over the counter and look upstairs with a large smile. Only the second his face peaked up the stairs, a vase came flying down and hit him square in the face. As Sten fell to the ground in despair Aiden crouched next to him.

"You know if you keep falling for that then it's going to get funnier." He smiled to his mildly unconscious friend who, unexpectedly, threw a punch right into Aiden's jaw.

"HEY! What's the big idea you little ass!" Aiden yelled, shaking the unresponsive man in frustration, only to receive a fist dropping to the top of his head. Aiden clenched his jaw and turned to see the culprit.

"Ryo you brat. What was that for?" Aiden questioned his friend as she loomed over him with an immense aura. "R-right, sorry." A voice came from up the stairs.

"Ryo-ne is back?" Kaori came running down the stairs, fully clothed mind you, and stopped at the base. Standing on Sten's mildly unconscious body, she greeted the older girl back home.

"Welcome back Ryo-ne! Did you and Oneechan find some good items today?" The normally intimidating girl nodded.

"Don't we always Ka-chan? See, I even brought you something." Ryo dropped down her inventory and brought out a necklace with a silver pendant. A very plain piece of jewelry but more than enough for the small hammer user. Kaori jumped off of Sten and held the item in her hands with bright eyes.

"It's beautiful! Thank you Ryo-ne!" The two girls embraced quickly as Sten started to sit up.

"Why am I always a punching bag? It's not very nice you guys." Aiden, still on the floor as well, wrapped an arm around the merchant.

"That just means we love you ya crazy bastard!" Soon after the second run of vulgarity another fist dropped onto Aiden's head, harder than the first.

"Ryo! Knock it-" He cut himself off seeing the lovely and terrifying vixen Nene standing above him with a smile that sent shivers down even the strongest of warriors spines.

"No swearing around me please. Okay Aiden-senpai?" She said it in such a manor that most children would have nightmares. Aiden tried to play off a smile as he apologized to her profusely, despite the fear showing on his face.

The friends finally calmed down and all sat around the table, ready to discuss their up and coming events.

"Alright guys. Let's figure out what we want to do for the holidays. Any ideas? 'Cuz I've got nothing." Aiden asked his guild mates.

"Wait what? Didn't you say you had a plan already?" Sten questioned his friend. Aiden avoided eye contact with him and stared at the ceiling.

"That is a complete lie and I would appreciate it if you didn't say such rude things."

"I hate you so much today."

"Pervert-san, please do not make up lies about my lord." Sora added to the mix. Sten simply started streaming fake tears down hi face. Nene, getting back on track, remembered something to do for an idea.

"Well, I have a friend who said there's an event happening on the twenty fifth. Some themed boss will drop a rare item or something like that. We could fight him perhaps." Nene offered. Aiden's eyebrow raised to the notion.

"A friend huh? This friend wouldn't happen to have some whiskers on her face would she?" Nene simply smiled and cocked her head to the side. He looked at her with an awkward smile.

"That would be telling Aiden-senpai."

"H-hai. Well, if it's the same friend I have, she is the best info broker I know. So this is probably true. Any other ideas though? We don't have to go and fight." Aiden reminded his friends.

"I got it!" Sten shouted out, no longer crying. "We can go to this outdoors hot spring! Aiden and Sora can stand guard while the rest of us bath together!" As Kaori covered her mouth, acting as if she was going to throw up, Ryo gave Sten the only response.

"Pervert." The man sank in his seat, but just as he did Kaori stood up in hers as fast as a lightening bolt.

"We can go to this restaurant that has some seasonal deserts! I heard an NPC talk about it. They'll only be available for twelve hours on the twenty fifth!" Kaori's mouth started watering at the idea of the delicious treats, stars were forming in her eyes. Aiden rubbed the back of his head at the site of his small friend going crazy at the idea of rare sweets. Aiden went over the ideas.

"Okay. So we have desserts, a boss fight, and,"

"And my harem dream!" Sten interrupted.

"And a perverts dream." Ryo corrected.

"Right." Aiden continued, "So what do we want to do?" Ryo simply shifted a little showing she didn't care where as Kaori sent her vote in.

"We don't know what level the boss is going to be around right? So I say we stick to the sweets." Nene clapped her hands together and tilted her head.

"Do you think they'll have kyandi bo as well?" Nene's question made Ryo slam both her hands on the table and bolt up.

"They better!" The friends around the table were taken back by the sudden burst of emotion from their usually emotionless friend, who was now as red as the kyandi bo that she craved.

"Well what about you Sora?" Aiden asked his ninja friend.

"I will go wherever my lord takes me!" He said profoundly, leaving Aiden awkwardly smiling and scratching his head.

"You're really going all out with the ninja thing aren't you?"

December 25th 2023 – Floor 35 – Weathercock Pavilion

The small guild left their manor and headed off to the restaurant that provided the rare treats. Once the building came into view they were a little surprised as hardly anyone was there.

"This place doesn't seem to be any busier than normal." Sten pointed out.

"Good!" Kaori said, jumping in front of the group. "That means more treats for us! BANZAI!" Kaori shouted with her fist in the air.

"Banzai!" Nene, Ryo and Sora followed suit and the four members ran inside of their destination, leaving the older boys behind. Sten covered his face with his hand in embarrassment.

"Why are we surrounded by children Aiden?" Aiden leaned in real close to Sten's ear and followed the others example.

"BANZAI!" Aiden's scream shook Sten so much he fell over and by the time Sten looked up he saw Aiden running into the building as well, trying to catch up to the rest of their guild.

"Okay correction, why am I surrounded by children?" A few seconds later, Sten made it to the table where the rest of his friends were sitting.

"Well then, have you all ordered one of everything yet?" He jested at them.

"Two of everything actually." Nene corrected him. Sten simply sank in his chair as the orders came piling onto the table. Watching everyone scarf the food down was as amusing, as it was a little horrifying. Ryo's strange eccentric behavior around kyandi bo was rather amusing for Sten to watch, just like Aiden not knowing how to swallow food was horrendous and terrifying. After the feeding frenzy finished up the group began to settle back down.

"Well this was certainly a better Christmas than last year." Aiden commented on their setting. Kaori smiled to Aiden.

"Of course it is. We're together as a family! But I still cant help but wonder what the event boss was going to be."

"What if it's this evil Santa Claus with an ax and some really crazy eyes?" Nene guessed. The rest of the group looked over to her.

"That would be terrifying and ruin Christmas for me forever. Certainly a fitting fight for the season though." Aiden mentioned as he leaned over to Ryo. "But I bet Ryo would still be scarier!" It didn't take long for Aiden's chair to break from under him as Ryo kicked it's leg. The large man fell down with a heavy thud, only to be laughed at by the rest of his team and some other patrons. However, Aiden crawled back up to the table and joined in on the laughter. Tis the season after all. Happiness may not last forever, so the time to enjoy it was now.
