The rest of the day went smoothly. I still wasn't completely convinced that Edward would get me to go to a karaoke bar, even though he'd refused to debate on the topic anymore. He'd walk off, muttering about the Magic 8 Ball. I threw it in the trash the first chance I got.

Nothing good ever came from that Magic 8 Ball.

Once Edward left my office I was able to get back on task again, finishing my e-mails and getting my plans ready for my few lessons that afternoon. Anything to avoid the coming doom of karaoke that night.

After I finished with lessons for the day I began tidying up my classroom, making sure everything was ready for tomorrow. A soft knock pulled me from my task and I turned to face the door.

"Where were you today?" Edward asked, a soft pout on his lips.

I blinked at him, confused. "What? Where?"

He walked further into the room, reaching out and wrapping his arms around my waist. "In my lesson. I didn't see you today."

I gasped then frowned, that had truly been the highlight of my day for the last few weeks. Today was the first day I had missed. "I'm sorry, I just got so busy in the office. I didn't think you would notice--"

"I always notice you, Bella," he cut me off.

I sighed, "And I thought you would get tired of me hanging around outside of your classroom--"

"I love having you around," he cut me off again. As sweet as he was being, I was getting frustrated.

"Well maybe if I wasn't so distracted about stupid karaoke tonight, I wouldn't have forgotten."

He frowned, "Do you really not want to go? I won't make you if you're going to get this upset."

I hated when he did that. Reverse psychology. He knew I would go because it was something he wanted to do, but he always gave me the option not to. Why wouldn't I go with him? What would I do if everyone else went to karaoke but me?

I sighed and his frown transformed into a small grin. He knew he'd won this time.

"Fine...I'll go. But I'm not singing."

He just laughed softly, taking my hand and pulling me out of the classroom. We didn't get too far down the hallway before Alice assaulted me.

"Bella! Edward told me about karaoke tonight, I can't wait! You have to come get ready at my place, I have the perfect outfit picked out for you!"

I groaned and turned to kiss Edward quickly on the cheek, straining against Alice who had both of her hands around my wrist and was tugging me down the hallway. Its a good thing Edward drove me to work this morning, I didn't think Alice would have even allowed me the time to take my car home.

The entire ride home was spent with Alice describing my outfit in perfect detail, down to the color of toenail polish I would be wearing. Normally, since I was already keyed up about going to karaoke, I would have argued with Alice about the outfit. I decided I would make this night fun for Edward, it was something he wanted to do and I wouldn't ruin it for him by being a sourpuss. And once I started listening, I decided the dress didn't sound too bad.

Alice had picked out a simple strapless dress that came to my knees with a pair of nice flats to go along with it. Somehow I had managed to convince her that heels were not safe for me to wear. The dress was in a beautiful dark blue, a color that Edward loved on me. That might have had some influence on my decision not to argue as well.

We giggled like schoolgirls while we got ready, anticipating another great night out with the boys. I was almost ready when Rosalie let herself into Alice's apartment. "Are you ladies almost ready? Emmett just called and said he was on his way over."

Alice started flying around her room, throwing accessories at me while still managing to dress herself. She settled on a black dress with silver heels, bringing her up to my ears in height. Rosalie looked stunning, as always, in a deep red blouse and black pencil skirt.

"Girls?" I asked cautiously, "Don't you think we're a little overdressed for karaoke?"

Alice gasped, looking offended, "Bella, don't you trust me? We look great, the guys are going to drool, and we're going to have fun tonight.."

I gave Alice a reassuring hug, "Of course I trust you...I was just making sure."

As I looked at the three of us, I noted how excited we all were for a night on the town. Edward was right, this did not happen often. We were only 23 years old, shouldn't this be happening every night? I wouldn't admit it out loud, especially to Edward, but I was actually getting excited about the night.

We all giggled like twelve-year-olds a few minutes later when the doorbell rang, signaling that one of the guys had arrived. I was surprised to answer the door and find all three of our lovely dates standing there waiting for us.

"Um, hi!" I stuttered, ushering them all in.

Jasper and Emmett waved hello and walked by me to find Alice and Rosalie. Edward stepped inside and closed the door behind him, still facing me. I stood back for a second, allowing him time to fully take in my outfit before I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him down for a quick kiss.

"You look absolutely amazing," he spoke softly against my lips.

I giggled lightly, "Its just a dress."

"Bella," he almost growled, " You know I love that color on you."

I kissed him quickly once more, before he could see the blush rising to my cheeks and lead him back to join everyone else.

"So how did you guys get here at the same time?" Rosalie asked.

"Edward gave us a call and we all went out for a drink before we came over, thought we'd give you ladies a little bit more time to get ready," Emmett answered. Rosalie rolled her eyes and made a face at me, clearly annoyed that the boys assumed we needed such a long time, whether they were right or not, but I was too busy beaming at Edward to notice. He was making such an effort to make us all an even bigger family, I could barely contain my joy.

"Well, lets all go then! Time's a-wasting!" Alice called, ushering us towards the door.

We all decided to drive separate so we could go our separate ways after our attempts at karaoke were finished. Alice and Jasper were in front of Edward and I on the drive over. It was clear to see that Alice was getting her voice warmed up for the night, dancing around the car as she sang loudly at Jasper. I couldn't count how many times I saw her reach over to turn the volume up louder only to have Jasper sneak his hand over a few seconds later and turn it back down.

Glancing behind me, I saw that it was the exact opposite situation in Emmett and Rosalie's car. Emmett was belting out some ballad, motioning dramatically at Rosalie as she rolled her eyes at him and turned the radio up to drown him out. I watched him strain to hit a high note and Rosalie turned towards away from him quickly, plugging her ears and screaming something that looked to me like "Shut the hell up!" Emmett merely grinned and kept singing, throwing his arm around her shoulder and forcing a small smile on her face.

I giggled and turned back around in my seat before glancing at Edward. He smiled over at me, "Are you all warmed up and ready?"

I shook my head, "I told you, I'm not singing. I agreed to come with you, but that's it."

"What if we do a duet?" he offered, reaching over and entwining his fingers with mine.

"I don't know, Edward..."

"Please, Bella," he said as we pulled into the parking lot, turning to me and poking his bottom lip out slightly.

I sighed, "I'll think about it..."

He grinned, knowing again that he'd won, and was at my door before I knew it to help me out of the car. He was whistling to himself as we all met at the door and made our way inside, greeted by an awful rendition of a Carpenters song.

Jasper lead us to a table in the back and someone was there handing us cards to write our names and songs on before we even sat down. Edward took my card quickly and scribbled something on it before handing it to our waitress.

"Edward! What did you just do?"

"You'll see," he grinned, "Trust me. Its perfect."

I felt my stomach twist into knots as I surveyed the room around us, full of people. On stage at that moment was a boy, probably a few years younger than us, singing "Friends In Low Places". He was butchering it, and I groaned as I realized how long the song was going to be.

I tried to block out the singing, glancing around the table. Alice and Jasper had their heads huddled together, picking out a duet to do. They were whispering back and forth, Alice's eyes bright with excitement and Jasper's face drawn into a wary expression.

Rosalie and Emmett were at odds with each other as always. Emmett was enthusiastically pointing to a song on a list that was laying on the table. He was almost dancing in his seat he was so excited.

"No."

"Aw, come on, Rose. It will be great. No one else in here is going to do this song."

"No, Emmett. That song is ridiculous."

He sighed in defeat, but as Rosalie turned to ask Alice what they were singing, an evil grin spread across Emmett's face and he hastily scribbled on the card before handing it off.

The night passed with a few good singers and I found myself actually having a good time when the first couple of our group was called up. Alice and Jasper took the stage and a soothing reggae beat filled the room.

Alice started bobbing lightly while Jasper swayed, looking slightly put out at the song choice. I didn't recognize it until Alice began singing.

"I've got you babe?" I turned to Edward, laughing. Yes, our lovely Alice had chosen the typical duet for herself and Jasper to perform, with a surprising twist. The reggae beat definitely gave it a new feel.

Jasper's voice flowed through the room along with Alice, and it was easy to see that everyone was enjoying their performance. The entire room was relieved to be free of tone deaf drunks for a few minutes.

They finished their song to thundering applause and Rosalie and Emmett were called up. Whistles flew from every direction as Rosalie picked up the mic. She ignored them and looked at Emmett, silently questioning what song he had picked.

Her questioning glance turned into a sharp death glare as the opening chords began.

"WAAAAR," Emmett grunted.

"Huh," Rosalie said monotonously into the mic.

"What is it GOOD FOR?" Emmett continued.

"Absolutely nothing, say it again." Rosalie sounded bored and rolled her eyes, not enjoying the music at all.

I had to laugh at Emmett's expression, trying to get Rosalie involved. He leaned towards her, swirling his hips around to the beat but she just sighed and pushed him away. He'd clearly chosen the song that she disagreed to earlier in the night.

"WAAAAR."

"Good God, you all."

Emmett sighed dramatically and motioned for them to cut the music. He turned to Rosalie, whispering to her gently. I could tell he was pleading, but I was definitely surprised when a huge grin spread across Rosalie's cheeks and she nodded. Emmett motioned for them to begin the song over again.

This time Rosalie grunted and swirled along with Emmett, making quite a spectacle on the stage. The whistles and catcalls increased as the song went on and they, too, ended to a round of thunderous applause.

I was laughing hysterically in my seat at the show they'd put on. I was so caught up in their antics that I didn't even realize mine and Edward's names had been called until he was pulling me out of my seat towards the stage. My heart started pounding in my chest and I dug the heels of my feet into the carpet. I found myself wishing I'd worn heels, knowing that spikes would have slowed Edward down more than the smooth soles of the flats I was wearing.

"Bella, you're being absurd," Edward joked, "You willingly sing in front of an auditorium full of people, but a room of about fifty makes you squirm!"

I shot him an evil look as we took the stage, still unsure of the song we would be singing. How was he so sure I even knew it?

My heart was still pounding as I heard the opening note and Edward began to sing. I recognized the song instantly, "Fire" by Des'ree and Babyface. The song was too perfect for us, and that reason alone helped me to relax and enjoy the song.

Edward sang the first verse jokingly, swaying towards me across the stage. I moved a little in my spot until he reached the hook of the song, at which time Edward wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me to him.

"Cause when we kiss, oooh," he kissed my lips quickly, "Fire."

My verse came next and I decided to tease him a little, dancing around him as he stood in place. My hand slid lightly across his back as I walked behind him and reached the hook. I faced him and looked him dead in the eye as I sang.

"Cause when we kiss, oooh," I leaned in to kiss his neck softly, "Fire."

Our voices finally joined for the next verse and we began to dance together, swaying gently to the sensual beat.

You had a hold on me right from the start
A grip so tight I couldn't tear it apart
My nerves all jumpin' actin' like a fool
Well my kisses might burn
But my heart stays cool

Well Romeo and Juliet
Sampson and DelilahBaby you can bet
They were burnin' with desire
If I say split
Then I know that I'd be lying

I was caught up in the song, dancing closely with Edward as we sang the hook again, "Cause when we kiss, oooh...Fire."

We continued to dance around the stage, putting on quite a show for our audience as we sang the final words of the song. Applause erupted around us and I laughed, waving to everyone and bowing before Edward swept me off of my feet and kissed me deeply as he walked us off of the stage.

He set me down and allowed me to make it to my seat before he smiled smugly at me.

"Now, that wasn't so bad, was it?"

I wanted to deny it, but I couldn't. That had been a blast, and Edward would not have any problems convincing me to go again if we could have a repeat of that performance.
