BPOV

I looked at myself in the mirror, doubt suddenly taking over as I surveyed my dressy form.

"I don't know, Alice. Edward said something about going and having fun...I'm pretty sure that involves dressing casually. Not in a dress and heels."

Alice huffed behind me and began playing with my hair, twisting it around her fingers to form loose curls. "Bella, you gave me permission to dress you up, you said you wanted Edward's mouth to water, now do you trust me or not?"

I sighed, knowing she was right. I did ask for her help, I did want Edward to drool.

"Okay, fine. At least give me some leggings or something..."

She began ruffling through her drawers before throwing a few articles of clothing at me, "Here. Pick one."

"Me? Pick something? Are you feeling okay? You're trusting me?"

Alice scowled at my sarcasm and I just laughed, trying on the pair that I liked best.

Perfect.

When Alice had described the perfect dress earlier in the day, I had shied away. She had used the word polka-dots too many times, and I wasn't sure she had picked the right outfit. Now that I was able to see the full picture, I was confident I would have the desired results from Edward.

The dress was white with black polka dots covering the bottom and some of the top. It hung loosely on me and was fairly short—judging by my requesting the leggings—and the stiletto heels that Alice had me in worked wonders on my legs. If Edward didn't pass out at the sight of me, I seriously had some work to do.

I ran my hands through my hair, working with the few waves that Alice had managed to define, and smiled. Tonight was going to make up for everything.

I was practicing walking in my heels when I heard Edward knock on the door. Butterflies exploded in my stomach as I tried to calmly walk to the door, knowing he would hear my clunking if I were to approach the foyer too quickly.

Throwing the door open, I had to laugh at Edward's shocked expression. I was almost positive I heard the breath leaving his chest.

He looked amazing, as always. Casual and comfortable, he was wearing a dark green polo shirt with a pair of dark jeans and top-siders. I had to remind myself that I was the one trying to stun him, not the other way around.

A bouquet of wild flowers hung loosely from his hand at his side. They were seconds from falling out of his grasp when I noticed them and smiled.

"Are those for me?"

Confusion crossed his face for a brief second before he noticed I was motioning to the flowers. "Oh, um. Yeah—er, Yes. Yes, here."

I had to smile, he was so flustered. Thank you, Alice.

His eyes paused on my shoes as he shuffled his feet back and forth. "Um...you might want to change shoes."

I rolled my eyes, "Edward. I'm not that clumsy."

Edward's eyes show up, immediately afraid he ad offended me. "No! That's not it, I mean...We're going mini-golfing. I don't think you'd want to play golf in those shoes."

"Not a chance, Bella!" Alice called from inside the apartment where she was packing up her things, "You're keeping those shoes on!"

I sighed and motioned for Edward to come inside as I stealthily made my way to my bedroom and stuck a pair of black flats into my purse.

Edward was waiting in the doorway for me, his arm outstretched. I was feeling extra confident after his reaction to my outfit and I grabbed his hand, lacing our fingers together smoothly. My new confidence around Edward stirred an excitement throughout my body and I couldn't wait for our fun date together.

I was swinging our arms between us, enjoying the sound of my heels clicking on the pavement, when Edward stopped us abruptly.

"Wha—"

His lips pressed against mine quickly and I felt his arms wrap around my back, pulling my body closer to his. His hands were fisting the smooth fabric of my dress, inching the hem up further and further along my backside.

As much as I wanted to continue this fun activity he had in mind, I only allowed myself about twenty seconds to give in. Enough to not offend him, and enough to drive him completely insane. Yes, that was the plan for tonight.

He looked confused when I pulled away. I could only smile at him and pull him towards the car, knowing if I looked into his gorgeous eyes for too much longer, my plan would be shot to hell.

The drive to mini-golf was quiet. It was slightly uncomfortable but I was determined not to let anything bring me down from my high. We were both nervous, still wound up from the disaster that was last night.

I reached to turn on the radio, desperate to break the silence. Edward had a classical CD in and I let the relaxing sounds of a Chopin nocturne wash over us. My movement to end the silence must have encouraged Edward because he visibly relaxed and reached for my hand, squeezing my fingers gently.

When we reached the mini-golf course I decided I was far enough away from my apartment that I could change shoes without Alice noticing or popping out of nowhere to scold me. You never knew with her.

"Much better," I sighed as I slipped my feet out of the intense black heels Alice had provided.

"I should have told you this before," Edward's voice was serious beside me, his mouth so close that the breath just from his speaking blew hotly against my neck, "But you look absolutely amazing tonight."

I smiled and shivered as he kissed my neck gently before getting out of the car and coming around to open my door for me. I swung our hands between us again as we all but skipped up to the front desk.

A greasy fellow, probably a year or so younger than Edward and I, was working behind the counter. He let a grin loose as we walked up and I felt my stomach churn.

"Well hello there, how can I help you?"

His eyes never left me and I shifted uncomfortably and glanced up at Edward. His jaw was clenched in a straight line, staring the man down like he only had seconds to live.

"Two clubs and balls, please," Edward nearly growled.

I nodded slightly, emphasizing Edward's eagerness to start our course. The grease ball's eyes never left my body as I squirmed. One downfall of dressing up for Edward was that I also dressed up for everyone else by default. I suddenly wished I'd worn jeans and a ratty t-shirt. That surely wouldn't have received the same response.

"My name is Mike. If you need anything, just call and I will be there in a heartbeat. Here," he said, handing me a pink golf ball with white polka dots, "This ball is just for you, since it matches your dress so beautifully."

I visibly cringed and I felt Edward tense even more beside me. I tugged his arm and we took off, starting our lovely evening together.

What started out as a fun date with Edward quickly turned into another disaster. Mike was following us everywhere, offering to give me hints on how to make a hole in one or trying to mess up Edward's shots so he would have to go retrieve his ball from under the water fall. Mike clearly hoped that this would give us a few seconds alone, but I always volunteered to retrieve the ball that Edward had mis-shot. I thought maybe if I left Edward and Mike alone enough times, he would finally get the hint.

He didn't.

Mike wasn't the worst of our problems, however. A young man, out with who I hoped was his sister, was constantly slowing down the process of the game, purposefully missing shots just so Edward and I would have to wait for him to finish on our next hole. He would smile, apologize, touch my shoulder.

Edward was almost red he was so upset by now. I was uncomfortable, yes, but these boys meant no harm. I was with Edward, there should have been no question about that. Why didn't they take a hint?

Then, something struck me. The awful feeling of jealousy from the night before overtook my body for a split second before I realized that it was time that Edward had a taste of his own medicine. Yes, it was mean, but I was still hurting a little bit. It would do him some good to step into my shoes for a second.

A few smiles directed toward Mike and the other stranger encouraged their advances. Okay, I know I wasn't playing fair. I felt guilty the second I did it, and promptly told Edward we would just skip the next two holes and go straight to the end.

"Thats okay, Bella," Mike called as we rushed away, "I'll put you down for par on those two holes you're skipping."

I didn't want to think of the horrible score he would give Edward.

Getting the date back on its feet once the awkwardness had passed was nearly impossible. I made a hole in one on the last hole and my celebration fell on deaf ears as Edward's face was still tense with his anger. I pouted for a second before realizing I had asked for this.

We claimed my prize, a glowing neon ring, from Mike and made our way back to Edward's car for a silent ride home.

Talking to Edward was a lost cause, so I decided to make myself useful and called in a few pizzas for delivery. I had a feeling we would be having a talk when we got back to my apartment, and I wanted some comfort food.

The second we pulled up to my apartment building I shot out of the car, not waiting for Edward to open the door for me. I wasn't sure that he would have anyway. He was still being quiet, still fuming so much I could almost see the smoke coming out of his ears. The pizza boy was waiting for us and I paid him quickly so he would leave Edward and I to our date that was hanging by a thread.

"I'm going to go change clothes."

Edward didn't say anything as I headed to my room. I looked back to see him peeking into the pizza boxes before pulling two plates and two bottles of beer out for us. He was settled in on the couch when I came back out to the living room. I sat beside him and took the plate he offered me, biting into the pizza before looking at him cautiously.

"Are you going to talk to me?"

"I don't know yet," he answered.

I coughed on my bite of pizza, "You don't know? Edward, get real. What is bothering you?" Even though I already knew the answer.

"Those guys, Bella. They were drooling over you like you were a piece of meat. And that Mike guy," he shuddered, "He looked like he was going to throw you in the back of his truck and take you home with him."

"Thats silly. You never would have allowed that." I tried to joke with him. It didn't work.

He shot me an annoyed glance, taking a sip of his beer before placing the bottle and his plate on the coffee table in front of us. "Its not funny, Bella. You encouraged it! Smiling at them, playing with your hair, missing shots to get them to help you..."

I was embarrassed. My only real attempt to encourage the boys was to smile. Missing shots had not been on purpose, I was actually that horrible at mini-golf. And my hair was in my eyes constantly thanks to the damned curls that Alice put in.

"What? Are you jealous or something? Because that's just unreasonable! Shouldn't you know my feelings for you?" My voice was dripping with sarcasm as I responded to him, hoping he would realize how I felt last night.

He cut his eyes at me before huffing, "Surely you're not comparing this to last night."

"What if I am? Its not that different."

"It most certainly is!"

"How is it different, Edward?" I repositioned myself on the couch so I was on my knees facing him.

"Those men wanted you, they were basically lusting for you right there for all the world to see!"

"Tanya wanted you!" I nearly shouted, slamming my fists down onto the cushions beside me.

"Don't be absurd," he scoffed, "She's just eager about taking piano lessons."

"Edward, be realistic. She can't be that excited about taking piano lessons. She just wanted an excuse to get to you. She showed up on our date, danced with you, ruined our night—"

"So its back to that now?" Edward interrupted me, "I thought you were over this last night, Bella."

"What if I'm not?"

"Then you're being ridiculous."

I plopped down from my raised position on the couch, crossing my arms across my chest and huffing, "Of course I am. I always am."

Edward sighed and I could tell he was torn between comforting me and fussing at me some more. Stepping back from the situation, I was surprised at how quickly things had gotten out of hand. How soon we were both angry to the point of shouting at each other. There were clearly more things we had to discuss, but now was not the right time.

"You still haven't told me what you and Tanya talked about."

"Oh for crying out loud, Bella," Edward threw his head back against the couch. I cringed. He'd never spoken to me like that before. "We talked about piano lessons. She bought her book already, she's excited. You should know better than to think we would talk about anything else."

I frowned, "I didn't know what to think."

"You should think that I love you,. That I wouldn't do that to you. Isn't that enough?" he stood up, picking his jacket up off the back of the couch.

I panicked. Suddenly my plan was going horribly wrong, he wasn't supposed to leave. We weren't supposed to be this angry.

"No, Edward. Please don't leave me," I was sure I saw him cringe at the words, mistaking what I was asking, "I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking."

He sighed and stood in front of where I was still sitting on the couch. He placed one hand on either side of my head so he was leaning over me.

"Bella, we just need a night to think. I love you, I'm not going anywhere. But I can't be here tonight."

He kissed me softly and turned to leave.

"I love you, too." I called quietly.

He paused at the door slightly before turning around and giving me a strained grin as he closed my door. I glanced around at my apartment, the two nearly whole pizzas on my table accompanied by two nearly full beers. Remnants of another ruined night.

I threw our plates and beers in the trash, not even bothering to box up the pizza that would surely have gone bad from sitting out all night by the time I woke up in the morning.

Damn that stupid dress.

So there you go! Remember, quotes from the next chapter if you review! Sorry I was so slack last time! I love you all!
