When she awakens next it is pitch black, save the lights of the various machines and tubes around her. Wondering what had awoken her, she turns to the soft murmuring in the corner of the room.
Patrick is standing at the window, their daughter in the crook of his arm as he whispers softly to her.
Not wanting to interrupt this private moment, she was content to sit back and watch - he'd come back.
Done with his conversation, Patrick turns back to the bed. Seeing Teresa awake he gives her a soft smile - the haunted look gone. 'Hey,' he says gently.
She smiles in return and reaches out for their child. It's feeding time.
Once Adelaide has finally been roused and is feeding, Teresa senses Patrick's presence is closer than ever. As Adelaide continues to feed, she looks up at the man she loved.
She closed her eyes and made happy sounds as his lips came down to cover hers. Parting, she whispered: 'Love you.'
'Love you too.'
As they both look down at the miracle they've created, Teresa hears Patrick whisper softly 'I'm not going anywhere,' echoing her words from earlier.
It's at this point she knows everything is going to be okay.
