2 : hero
He knows the cape and the mask and the grandiose plans from his childhood. Hooded heroes, brave men in flowing capes who always won the unwinnable fight -- he showed them to Lelouch, once, watched his friend's eyes light and his cheeks redden, laughed as Lelouch demanded (in his angry half-shouted princely manner) to know why he'd never seen these before.
That was the fourth day of the war. Suzaku had found a pile of rubble that was once a town, and in the back of the half-demolished dimestore a comic book lay in the dirt and the sunlight, still dressed in flimsy plastic. Lelouch had hollered at him to hurry up and he did because Nunnally was the important thing here, not some old book, not some old memories.
That night Suzaku snuck in like a thief and left like a hero, the gleaming volume clutched in his hands.
