A quick one shot idea I had while messing around lol Hope you guys enjoy this rough draft of it and stay warm out there!
I leaned against the cold bare cell wall as my chains rattled slightly. I hummed absent-mindedly as the helmet they made me wear clinked lightly against the wall.
No powers, no voice, just punishment.
I stared out toward the cell door as I continued to hum lowly.
Tis the new way of Grulovia, I guess.
I sighed as I stared out mindlessly.
Maybe I should have never raised my voice. Maybe I should've kept my head down like father taught us to.
I shook the thought out of my head as the rattling filled the cell once more.
But then all my aunt fought for would have been for nothing. Her death would have meant nothing. We would be nothing.
I looked out toward the door once more as I remembered how Lucrecia would show her disgust with the motherland at times.
Then the songs of our people would never be heard.
"Za Gruloviyu, rodinu nashikh serdets." I sang softly to myself as a slight smirk appeared on my face. "O, kak ona razryvayet nas na chasti."
"Oi! Prisoner! Be quiet!"
"Just singing our anthem good soldier!" I couldn't help but laugh lightly to myself before continuing with my version. "Gde lyudi umirayut, a tsar' plachet. Chto nikomu net dela do yego korony." I pushed myself away from the small wall with a wide smile. "Gde deti golodayut, a lyudi v rezerve. Ved' my vse obrecheny utonut'!" I got up to my feet as I started singing the parody with great pride. "For we're all doomed to drown!"
"Silence!"
"For Grulovia, the mother country of our hearts. Oh, how she tears us apart!" I laughed a little to myself as I heard footsteps nearing my cell. "Where people die, and the Gzar cries. That no one cares for his crown." I started bellowing the words as the rattling of keys was heard behind the door. "Where children starve, and people are in reserve. For we're all doomed to drown!" I filled the last bit with as much venom as I could as the cell door piece started to turn. "We're all doomed to drown!"
"Quite the lively activist aren't you, young man?" The door opened slowly as three figures appeared. Ones that were clearly not guards to the cells. I swallowed hard as a tall man took a small step forward into my holding. "They hold you down in such a place and you still refuse to falter, huh?" He adjusted his sunglasses as his thick German accent flowed with his words. "That's admirable, to say the least."
"For possible moving agents, you're quite talkative," I grumbled to myself as I rattled my chains lightly. "Taking me to the big house I guess? Oh, what about that Gzar himself? Let him take off my head in front of all the people so my little actions have no more effect, huh?" I smirked as a small chuckle escaped me. "The bastard would, after all."
"No, Razputin, we're not here for that." A woman's voice joined as a tall Brazilian woman joined the man's side. Her accent wasn't as thick as the man's but could at least give her the benefit that it was a lot more warming to hear.
"Not here to take Razputin Aquato, grand middle finger raiser to the Gzar, to the prison?" I scuffed a little as I took a step back from the two of them. "Don't be surprised of my hesitation."
"More than understandable, Razputin." The man put his hands behind his back as he took a slight step forward. "But we are here on behave of a different group." I rolled my eyes as I sat back down on the small bed-like ledge behind me.
"There are no different groups here. There are no other powers." I narrowed my eyes at the two of them. "There's the crown and then there's those who fall to its bullshit." I rattled my cuffs once more for emphasis. "There is no in-between. There is no freedom. There's only those who suffer and those that live in luxury on that."
"Jeez, he really is as dramatic as dad made him out to be." I gave a curious look to the owner of the third voice who slipped in behind the taller two. She looked slightly younger, possibly my age as she crossed her arms over her chest. Her accent was more American-like as she shrugged lightly. "I like the whole 'Fuck the man' complex you got there, but it's a bit dramatic there." I couldn't help but smirk as the girl had a little bit of a sarcastic aura to her.
"You live here, princess, and you tell me how it's dramatic then." The girl gave a small hum in reply before turning her attention toward the other two.
"He's got wit, can say that. More than the other kids."
"Which is why we're giving him an offer." The woman smiled proudly as I gave her a curious look.
"An offer?"
"The leader of our organization caught wind of just how unique you are, Razputin," The German started as he took another small step forward. "We would like to offer you an escape from here and to join our ranks."
"Ranks in what? International bullshit?" I chuckled a little to myself as I shook my head. "Sorry, but no thank-."
"As Psychonauts, Mr. Aquato." I swallowed hard the familiar word rolled off the man's tongue. "Much like your great aunt was." I blinked slowly as my mind started to piece together the situation.
"The guard that was yelling earlier didn't just let you all stroll in here, did he?"
"Clever boy." The girl gave a wide smile as she uncrossed her arms. "We're here to rescue you from whatever bullshit they have planned for you. We want to give you a chance to keep doing what you're doing as well as give you more practice with those powers of yours." She took a few steps closer to me so she could let out her hand toward me. "I'm Lili Zanotto, daughter of the Grand Head of the Psychonauts. I'm here on behalf of my father and the agency to give you a chance at freedom here." I looked at the girl's hand skeptically as I swallowed dryly.
"I thought the Psychonauts disbanded," I spoke softly as I closed my eyes slowly. "That was what was told. After my aunt-." I stopped suddenly as I opened my eyes once more. "After she died, Grulovia never heard of you all ever again. We thought all was lost."
"For a little while, yes. The original group did disband, but we're back and better than ever before. Ten years strong now."
"Why-." I looked up at her slowly as I tried my best to form the words. "Why come back? Why now?"
"The other nations and groups had no idea that Grulovia was still struggling as harshly." The man now spoke as he joined the girl's side. "Your country became a hermit society. Nothing about us got in, and nothing about you all got out. Until now, that is." The man smirked as he placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. "You made quite the stir, Razputin. Made every head of the world snap their attention toward this country once more. It's because of you that we're here now."
"So what do you say, kid?" The girl nudged her hand forward. "My hand's getting tired here, anyway." I started to fill with pride as I raised my cuffed hands together.
Maybe the battles I've raged were worth for something after all.
I took the girl's hand with both of mine and shook it firmly.
This is for you, Lucrecia.
A wide smile took over my face as I took in the moment.
And for Grulovia.
