-RIDING THE BULLET-
By: Felling
He stared on in shock, complete and utter shock at what his misfortune had brought him and where. He couldn't control himself as waves of anguish, anger, and loss rolled through his body like waves on a stormy sea. She was gone. Taken. Stolen.
He felt like his most prized possession had been whisked away by a thief in the night. Right from under his nose, the breath stolen from his lungs.
Rose.
There was no way he could comprehend the facts as they slowly moved together, piecing themselves one-by-one, as his mind and heart battled for dominance over his still-body. It was as if his home was completely demolished once again. Memories turning vivid, he watched behind closed eyes.
The breath of fire waking across the lands as the night sky turned a black red. The cries of the sorrowed and damned. He'd lost him his home again. His life. His purpose. Her.
Slowly tracing the outline of the controls and gizmos of his clockwork beauty, he slowly purged deeper into thought. Fate was slowly tearing at him, ripping his demented soul more then enough.
'Fate had done it.'
His self conscious whispered and caressed his mind.
'It was all part of the...plan.'
Shaking his head in dismal, he walked around the center piece of the TARDIS, slowly memorizing and calculating softly to himself.
'It's done it before.'
Understanding where he stood, he looked over in dismay as the the panel that covered the heart of the TARDIS reflected his image back. He quickly averted his eyes away in distaste as he fled the room only to find himself lost in a maze of memories.
'It'll happen again. Over and over.'
Hands sweaty, he grasped the doorknob to her room.
'Rose.'
His conscious whispered, the sickly sweet voice rebounding off every single surface of his mind. 'Never again.' He thought and assured himself at the exact same moment. He wouldn't allow such misfortune to cover and cloud over his judgment and the poor woman sobbing her heart out to the stony grains of sand that lay in front of her.
'Never again...?'
As he walked swiftly through her room and he watched slowly as he played back the times he had sat and talked to her, nursed her back to health, comforted her to till she couldn't bring herself to cry anymore. He lay down on the ruffled pink bed sheets as the thoughts pursued his mind to make this right. Fate was out to get him. To bring him down to his single breath.
To kill him.
It was like a hit to the heart. A force he had dodged for so long. Gallifrey burning, people dieing, broken promises, heart-felt good byes.
'All of it.'
The voice cooed softly. He had avoided every horrible experience that tried to hit him, to kill him.
'A bullet.'
He suddenly realized the point of his hideous fate. He had side-stepped every bullet that had come his way, every sickening destruction he had left in his wake, every heart wrenching memory. But this time it was different. This time...
This time he was riding the bullet.
I hope you enjoyed. This fanfiction was was created from my broken heart, and I used the only way I could to express how I felt about Rose leaving.
