To Speak
He entered the chamber after an echoing boom, the knock upon the door, and a woman clad in a fine silk and armour. Her voice rang clearly through the hallowed chamber, "are you the boy whom lay at our doorstep?" her warm honey eyes reflecting a softness in her voice.
His voice failed and he wavered, "Y-yes," his voice nervous in the presence of the stunning woman,"I have come from Kiryuu temple, through the forests."
She scowled at him. "You lie to me boy. The temple was burned down years ago. The monks were consorting with the winged folk and were punished justly.'
"I was but a child still. I have traveled since then and have been forlorn and cast aside everywhere I have gone. All I want.. is a home.. I have come for forgiveness... No, acceptance.."
Another chuckle, "I cannot just allow you into the Kigata, some man from the streets. Surely even a man such as yourself MUST know that."
He bowed to her palms against the cold granite, his forehead just above, "Please, mistress Mai, I shall pledge my life to your service, I'll do anything if you please just allow me this.."
"I'll bind you to your word, Tobi was it..?" She smiled to him warmly, placing a hand on his cheek, "Your room will be ready shortly. I look forward to working with you.."
"Thank you.. Mistress Mai.. I appreciate you taking me in" He softly kisses her hand and exits the chamber, looking for Miss Ukiko.
