Chapter 3: Beybattle, the Next Level

"This is supposed to be vacation. I can't believe this." Tyson whined.

"Well it's not Kai's fault." Hilary countered. It was the morning after the rain, and everything else that happened. Kai was still in his room, and everyone else was sitting in the living room of the Bladebreaker's suit, including the other teams. Everyone's spirits were dropped after the occurrence of the previous night. At that moment, Kai walked out fully dressed, but the only different about him was that he held his ruby dagger by his hip, hidden by a jacket.

"Kai. How are you feeling?" Ray asked, concerned for his friend. Kai only gave a slight nod and sat down with the others. He didn't answer them and just sat there staring aimlessly at the sky outside.

"Do you want to get something to eat for lunch then? I mean, you didn't eat anything last night, so you're probably hungry." Max said, trying to sound as casual as possible. Kai gave a slight nod and stood up. "Ok then, let's go." Max said getting up as well, and he also gave a nod to the others. Everyone else started to leave, and Kai slowly followed.

"I heard about a really good restaurant not too far from here. I hear they have really god food." Kenny said, trying to clear the tense air. The group started to walk without another word. Usually everyone would be full of laughter, but today it was different.

"Hmm…maybe we can share a fondue or something." She said. She looked up and to her surprise; it was the Bladebreakers and some of their friends walking into the restaurant. "Daryl, don't look now but it's them." The blond looked up and his friend was right.

"Oh great, what's Mia gonna say when she gets back from the washroom?" He asked in frustration. "She told me she saw Kai last night too. Although she told me it didn't go very well. Kaya? Are you even listening to me?" The girl looked back up to Daryl. She had long pink hair that flowed gently down her back and crimson eyes just like Kai's. She had a slender and fit body as well, but she never liked to show it off. She merely wore a sleeveless sky blue dress, the only skin that showed were her bare arms. Her smile was the most gentle and sweet smile anyone could ever lay eyes upon. She seemed so innocent, but Daryl knew deep inside, she could be useful in tough situations.

"It's just…I don't understand why Kai doesn't even remember me. It doesn't make sense; we did share a childhood together." She thought aloud.

"I'm pretty sure Voltaire had something to do with that. No way would Kai forget his own sister. I think you should tell Kai. He at least deserves to know he has a sister." Daryl encouraged. Kaya only gave a slight nod. From the corner of Daryl's eye, he could see Mia walking back from the washroom, but she didn't even notice Kai. She walked right past the table without even noticing him, probably because he was with so many people.

"Ooh la la, well what do we have here? A very pretty girl and a gorgeous body too. Too bad she's really short, if only she were a bit taller." Michael said almost to himself.

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A SHORTY THAT'S SO SMALL THAT EVEN AN ANT CAN STEP ON!" She yelled out. Everyone in the restaurant stared at the girl who obviously didn't like it when people called her short. Her black hair was put up into a messy bun as always. She wore navy blue jeans with her usual black runners, a black shirt showing her midriff, and a white trench coat with black gloves to top it all off. Wondering what was going on, the gang turned their heads around to the girl.

"It's you!" Kai yelled. Everyone looked at Kai in disbelief when he jumped out of his chair and pointed at the dark haired girl. "Mia."

"Hey look over there. Isn't that the guy who was at the suit yesterday?" Tyson asked aloud. "What's his name again? Daryl, right?" He put his finger on his chin as if thinking hard about the matter.

"Kai, I…I…" Mia stuttered out. Daryl and Kaya walked over to Mia, and they both looked at the group with Kai.

"Who are you?" Kai asked the pink haired girl. She looked a bit younger than Kai, but they were almost identical in some ways which the Bladebreakers found extremely bizarre. The girl looked over at Mia and Daryl, and they both gave her a nod as if giving her permission to say her own name.

"My name…my name is Kaya. Kaya Hiwatari." She said. Her crimson orbs stared into Kai's, and the thought finally sunk into his head. It can't be. It's not possible.

"It's possible." Daryl said as if reading Kai's thoughts. "She's your sister Kai." Daryl said finally.

"But that's…the only family I have is Voltaire." Kai said resentfully. Kaya shook her head, but she didn't keep eye contact with her older brother. Kai gave out a sigh. After some thought, he didn't find it too surprising, for he had looked into photo albums before he was sent to the abbey; before when his parents were alive, and he would always see himself as a child with a girl that looked just like Kaya. "We should talk." Kai said, and he dragged Kaya out the door, leaving Mia and Daryl standing in front of Kai's baffled friends.

"I think you owe us an explanation." Ray told the two. "Let's start with who are you, and what relationship you have with Kai." He stared at the two blankly, and the rest of gang had cornered them; the two couldn't leave without explaining things to them. Mia gave out a sigh and smiled.

"I guess we don't have a choice, do we?" Giving up, the brother sister duo sat down with everyone else and began explaining. "My name's Mia Vialetti. This is my twin brother Daryl Vialetti." She started off. Everyone was surprised. They didn't look anything alike; the genetics passed on to them were somehow diverse considering they're different hair and eye color. But they supposed it might have just been a fluke that they ended up so different. "I just don't want Kai knowing anything about this, ok?"

"You have our word. But why?" Ray said.

"It's just…I never wanted him to know about us, but I suppose it's too late now. He was so happy before, and I don't want to bring him any troubles again." Mia explained. She took a deep breath and began. "I met Kai a long time ago, and then through each other I met Kaya and they met Daryl." She said. Looking at the clock inside the restaurant, she suddenly became alarmed. "This entire thing really is complicated. We have to be somewhere right now, but perhaps you would like to join us?" Mia proposed. When she saw the looks on their faces, she merely gave a small smile.

"Don't worry, you won't be intruding. In fact, we're going to a Beybattle. I have a feeling you might even enjoy it." Daryl explained. With those words, the entire gang became excited.

"Brother, are you ok?" Kaya asked as she slowly approached her older brother. He sat down on a bench just outside the restaurant.

"Why didn't grandfather ever tell me about you?" Kai finally asked after a long pause.

"I don't know. But I've never exactly been on his good side. I was always the exact opposite of what he wanted me to be, which was a power-hungry person. I doubt he even considers me family anymore. He always said I was too nice." Kaya said looking down sadly. Kai gave a smirk.

"That's not a bad thing Kaya. At least you never turned out to be like me. I'm like him…just like Voltaire."

"No you're not. You have a heart, and you care about other people. Voltaire would never be able to understand emotions like you do. I'm just so glad to have my big brother back." She said with a smile. "Anyways, I have to be somewhere right now. Would you care to join?" She asked politely.

"Where are you going?" Kai asked her.

"Just a Beybattle. Look, there's Mia and Daryl with your friends" Kaya said as she pointed over to her two companions. "I bet they invited your friends to go with us. You should come too. It'll be like before, when the two of us used to do things together." Kaya was just too convincing for Kai. He couldn't say no to his little sister's face. He gave another smirk and sat up to follow them.

"This…this isn't a regular battle…is it?" Ray asked, bewildered. "That bit beast…isn't even in a Beyblade." He was right.

"How is this possible?" Kenny asked, with disbelief in his voice just like his friend's. Everyone was baffled, how was it possible to have a bit beast roaming around on its own? They had left Bern and were on the outskirts of that enormous city. The new bit beast they encountered wasn't in a Beyblade, and it took the form of a lynx in the shadows.

"Well it's definitely a bit beast. I can tell." Dizzi said from inside the laptop. "I've never heard of a bit beast that isn't trapped though." She wondered aloud. Mia merely gave a smirk, and she took out her black and red Beyblade as well as her sapphire dagger.

"Hey, that's like the one Daryl gave Kai." Max noticed. Kai took his ruby dagger out and stared at it. What could this thing be used for? His question would soon be answered. The lynx gave out a loud screech, and it gave out an incredibly fast strike of fire. The fire missed the teens but instead it landed on highly flammable objects. The flames grew around the teens shortly, and before they knew it they were surrounded.

"Maxie, what do we do?" Mariam called. She went closer towards him and sweat poured from her forehead.

"I-it's ok, we'll find a way out of this. I know we will." He lied. Slowly he reached around her waist as if protecting her from the flames.

"Oh Ray." Mariah said. "It's getting hot. Can't breath." The flames had taken up all the oxygen. It was getting harder and harder to breath.

Great. Just our luck. Mia stared at her dagger and suddenly, an idea hit her.

"Lohengrin!" She yelled out. Her Beyblade's bit chip began glowing, and Mia unsheathed the dagger. "Into the dagger!" She finally called. A light emanated from the Beyblade, and it shifted from the Beyblade into the dagger. Now the sapphire dagger had an energy pulsing through it, water could also be seen circling the blade.

How…how did she do that? Kai wondered. Her bit beast was now in her dagger instead of her Beyblade. He stared at the girl and she gave out a smirk. Mia raised her right arm which was holding the blade.

"Tsunami formation, attack!" She yelled. The dagger released a blast of water and in a split second, the flames had died down and water was dripping everywhere. Mia gave a sigh and lowered her right arm again. The lynx had weakened somewhat but it still wanted to fight.

"It's our turn now." Daryl said with a grin. Instead of putting his bit beast into his dagger as Mia did, he launched his silver blade to the ground. "Endymion!" He called for his bit beast. It took the form of a legendary creature called a Roc, with a wingspan believed to be able to cover the sun itself. The goliath winged beast stood proudly, and it created large gusts of wind able to knock a person off their feet just by flapping its wings.

"It's…it's bigger than any other bit beast I've ever seen!" Kenny exclaimed. Daryl merely sneered.

"Use Suffocate!" And with that one command, the Beyblade started spinning in circles around the already wounded lynx. The faster it spun, the more the lynx grew weaker.

"What's it doing?" Julia wondered aloud. "What's happening to that bit beast?"

"It's in the name of the attack, Suffocate." Kenny said. "I've analyzed the attack. The faster that blade spins the more oxygen its taking up in the area the lynx is in. Once the Endymion bit beast is at its fastest, the Lynx won't be able to breathe at all."

The lynx went down to its knees, and before anyone could blink, it was unconscious.

"Endymion, that's enough. You can stop now." Daryl said. The bit beast did as its master told him, and he went back into his blade. Kaya immediately took out a purple Beyblade but it didn't have a bit beast in it.

"Kai. We need your help." Kaya told her brother. "Take out your ruby dagger." As instructed, Kai unsheathed his dagger.

"What do you want me to do with it?" Kai asked.

"We need to put that bit beast into the Beyblade, but we can't do it because the beast's element is fire. The one who has to seal it is Dranzer's dagger. " Mia said. Kai nodded and he went over to the lynx cautiously.

"It's ok, I made sure the lynx wouldn't be getting up for a while now." Daryl ensured. "All you need to do is point the dagger to the lynx." Kai did as told, and the lynx morphed into an orb of red light. "Now direct it to the empty Beyblade." Daryl instructed again. Kai moved the dagger slowly and the orb of light followed wherever the dagger was pointed to, he then pointed it to the Beyblade and the orb immediately went into the Beyblade. When Kaya picked it up, an image of a lynx could be seen on the bit chip.

"How did I do that?" Kai asked. "You guys have some serious explaining to do."

Half an hour later, everyone arrived back at the Bladebreaker's suit, including Mia, Kaya, and Daryl. The group had taken their jackets off, but Mia still had her white trench coat and gloves on.

"You want me to hang that up for you?" Hilary offered. Mia cocked her head to one side in confusion. "Your white trench coat. You must be boiling after that fire." She said. Mia became panicked.

"No!" She suddenly realized everyone was looking at her after she yelled. "No…thanks. I usually have it on." Mia looked down and Daryl and Kaya just gave her a reassuring look.

"So…what happened there? I am seriously confused." Lee said.

"I told you this was complicated. We'll have to start from the beginning, so I hope you guys have a lot of time on your hands." Mia said as she sat down in the couch beside Kai. Everyone sat in a circle and Hilary made sure the snacks would be passed to everyone. "So I'll start with our daggers and what happened in the battle. Kai, Daryl, Kaya, and I all have four separate daggers. Each gem represents the four basic elements. Kai's ruby dagger represents fire, my sapphire dagger represents water, Daryl's quartz is air, and Kaya's emerald dagger is Earth. Every single bit beast on the face of the Earth revolves around these four elements. There are some bit beasts that are trapped within Beyblades, swords, or some kind of object. However, there are also those that are free to roam the Earth." Mia started.

"That's where we come in. Our daggers came from the bit beasts Dranzer of fire, Lohengrin of water, Endymion of air, and Oracle of Earth." Daryl finished off for his twin. "Using our daggers as mediums for our bit beasts, we're able to trap or free bit beasts. When our bit beasts are in the daggers, we can also use them to protect ourselves in battle, just like Mia demonstrated earlier today. We tend to only trap the bit beasts that are more violent, such as that lynx we encountered today. The reason why only Kai could trap that lynx bit beast we saw today into the Beyblade was because his Dranzer controlled the same element as the lynx. All four of us are able to battle any bit beast we choose, but only the equivalent element can trap it."

"But our main goal…" Kaya said. "Is to find the Draconian bit beast. Legend has it that it was the first bit beast ever to have been created. We still don't know the entire origins of the bit beasts, but there are countless legends. The Draconian legend states that it has control of all four elements including two more, which are light and darkness. We haven't been able to track it down unfortunately, but if he ever falls into the wrong hands then doom is certain to fall upon this planet." Kaya finished in a grave tone.

"That's why we need to find it, and a guardian worthy of this beast." Mia said.

"Ok, now that we've got that settled, what's going on between you and Kai?" Julia asked, directing her question to Mia.

"She's right, I know something probably went on between you two when Kai had his memory." Mariam said with a grin.

"Oh? And how do you know that?" Garland asked monotonously.

"You can never question a woman's intuition is what I always say." Mariah said with another grin.

Oh brother. The guys thought. Mia looked at Kai without blushing the slightest bit, but she could see Kai had a faint redness on his cheeks even though unnoticed by everyone else. Mia sighed inwardly. Yeah…maybe there was something. But after everything we've been through, you can't really say for certain. Mia thought.

"So how did you two meet?" Hilary asked. I wonder if it was romantic. From what I know Kai's never had any romance according to him, but maybe this is going to change some things. She thought devilishly.

"I really shouldn't say. We've already said too much." Mia said. Kai looked beside him towards Mia, wondering why she wouldn't say anything.

"If you're trying to say that you don't want me to remember, then that's too bad for you. I think I have a right to know, even if you 'bring back the troubles to me' like you say. Do you really think I care?" Kai asked with noticeable attitude in his voice.

"It doesn't matter. We should never have invited you people with us in the first place. I'm sorry; I just remembered we have to be somewhere." And with that Mia got up to leave. Daryl and Kaya started to get up as well.

"Wait." Mia looked back, and Kai had grabbed on to her left arm. "Please tell me." Kai said again, almost pleading her. Her arm is so cold.

"Let go of me." Mia said, and she pulled her arm away. Kai still didn't let go of her sleeve, and part of her white trench coat came off. Everyone gasped at what they saw.

Author's Note:

And yet another character added in this one! I hope you like how Kaya was put into this one too! I know, I got the whole short thing from Ed in Fullmetal Alchemist..Well I originally designed Mia to be short because I wanted her to be shorter than Kai even when they were kids, and then after watching a couple episodes of FMA, I was like...I GOTTA DO THAT! LOL, I know...I'm obsessed with that lol.

Next chappie will be what happened during the incident, and soo sorry for making this a cliffie! I just couldn't help myself lol. Again, I WILL update soon! The latest ANY of my updates will be is one week! I'm not one of those authors who update once in a blue moon.
