Chapter 7: Origins Part I

"Sir, we have a problem over here!" He shouted. The man wore a white lab coat over his formal business attire, and he was accompanied by many other scientists working on the project. They were all young and old, but each held great knowledge that was a necessity for the success in this project. A man walked in, and he was obviously the head scientist. His blonde hair was neatly set back and his sapphire orbs looked onto the machine that was sending out an alarm.

"What's wrong with her?" He asked, obviously frustrated with the other scientists. The machine that everyone was working on was a large metal device that evidently held something of importance.

"We don't know sir. She's responding poorly to the nutrients we're giving her." The scientist answered.

"Well fix it. Don't forget, she's my daughter too."

A woman looked out the large window above the lab, and as scientists raced around the device trying to figure out the problem she knelt down to the floor. Her black hair covered her silver eyes that shed tears in her grief. She rubbed her stomach with the baby boy she was about to have.

"My poor girl. I'm so sorry I can't be there with you."

Mia shot up from her deep slumber, panting heavily and sweating. Calming down, she looked around and the train was stopping in Paris. Everyone else had also just woken up but they didn't notice her sweating after that nightmare. Not a nightmare…a memory…

As she walked out of the train with her new friends, Kai and Ray looked at her with concern written all over their faces.

"Finally, we're here!" Hilary shouted. "The beautiful city of Paris!" She said dreamily. Looking around, she could the Eiffel Tower at a distance. She couldn't wait to see all the sights in Paris.

"It's good to be back. Hey, where's Oliver? He said he would be meeting us at the train station." Tyson wondered looking around.

"So this Oliver person you guys keep talking about. Is he nice? Is he good looking?" Hilary asked the team.

"He's really nice." Max answered for her. "As for the good looking part…we wouldn't know." He finished.

"Oliver's a good person. It's just his teammate Enrique you have to look out for. He goes after all the beautiful ladies." Ray said, observing Mariah out of the corner of his eye.

"Then Hilary has nothing to worry about." Tyson mocked. Hilary clobbered him over the head and he immediately shut up.

"Bonjour!" They heard from a distance. Sure enough, it was Oliver walking towards them with a grin. He was wearing the same attire as when they first met him, and his green hair had grown a little bit. "How have you all been?" He asked everyone. They all responded with smiles and a greeting, and they decided to head towards their hotel. Each of them was carrying a large duffel bag holding their belongings.

"I wasn't expecting three other guests here." Oliver commented when he noticed Mia, Daryl, and Kaya walking with the group of friends. "Who may I ask are you?" He inquired politely.

"The girl with the pink hair and blue dress is Kai's little sister, Kaya." Tyson remarked. Oliver seemed surprised but nonetheless, he welcomed her with a respectable smile. "The one with the black hair is Mia Vialetti, and that's her twin brother Daryl Vialetti. They're…umm…" He stumbled.

"Old friends of mine." Kai intruded. Oliver was shocked that Kai had spoken even a word, and he shook hands with the twins.

"It's a pleasure." Oliver said. "Come, it's time we checked into your hotel. Mr. Dickenson contacted me earlier and I believe he has ordered a bus for us to travel so we don't have to walk." He said. Once they were looking onto the road in front of the train station, they could see a BBA bus stopping at the curb. Everyone stepped onto the bus and put their bags into the overhead compartments. The ride itself was uneventful, and conversations peeked from one end to the other.

They had finally reached the hotel, and they were amazed at the structure of the building. Inside was even more extraordinary, looking as if it were a palace. They checked in with the front desk at the hotel, and headed up the elevator to their rooms. Their rooms were separated just as it had been when they were in Bern. Kaya of course wanted to stay with her brother, and Mia and Daryl followed them into the suit. The view from the hotel was breathtaking, and overlooked the entire city including the Eiffel Tower to Hilary's enjoyment.

Once the Bladebreakers finished unpacking everything they needed, Oliver offered to be their tour guide and took them and everyone else to see the sights in Paris. Hilary of course insisted on going to the Eiffel Tower, and mostly everyone didn't care or agreed to Tyson's dismay.

"Well the lovely lady has never seen it before. So I believe we should take her there." Oliver complimented. This made Hilary blush and Tyson fume even more than he already was. Ray smiled to himself, and Max sniggered which made everyone look at the two awkwardly.

"For people with perfect 20/20 vision, they sure are blind." Max commented. Ray only laughed which sent more looks towards the two.

The tower was just as the Bladebreakers remembered it. The building stood proudly with amazing stature, and overlooked the city in its magnificence. They had reached the top and could see far into the distance. They heard a shriek and looked back towards Hilary.

"So scary!" She wailed, clinging onto the nearest thing, which just happened to be Tyson.

"I didn't know you were scared of heights." Tyson said scratching the back of his head while Hilary still clung onto him like a parasite.

"Neither did I." She cried out. They all became very worried and tried to calm her down, but she didn't. She had never been up so high, and it definitely was a scary thing to be so high for her. Tyson took her back down to ground level, and looking around he noticed that Mia and Kai had vanished.

They were on the other side of the Eiffel Tower. Still looking into a beautiful scene, Mia and Kai just stood there looking out into the distance. For Kai, it seemed right to be with her. This moment, alone, with her, was perfect. He didn't ask for anything else, and he didn't want anything else. With her by his side, his world came to heaven. He hadn't realized it, but he was staring at her as she looked onto the clouds. When she looked back at him, he glanced back at the clouds, trying to hide the fact that he was staring.

"It's beautiful here." She said, gazing back at the city.

"Yeah." He said. That wasn't what he had wanted to say, but his reflexes told him to change the sentence from 'just like you' to a miserable 'yeah', which made him frustrated. He had always been able to speak his thoughts, even though they had always been a few words, they still held meaning. But with her, he felt as though he was…frightened to say certain words.

"Hey you two!" Michael called out as he walked towards them with Rick by his side. "Looks like Hilary isn't feeling very well so we're leaving." He said. Rick had his arms crossed and eyes closed, and when he finally opened them, he spoke.

"Don't disturb the lovebirds, they were about to kiss." He mentioned with a huge grin. Both were unfazed by the comment and left to take the elevator back down. Rick frowned and followed Mia and Kai to the elevator shaft.

As much as Mia hated to admit it, Paris gave her the creeps. She never knew why exactly. Maybe it had something to do with a memory…

"It's already getting late. Maybe you guys should head back to your hotel." Oliver offered. "I'll come by tomorrow and we can go somewhere that no one has been to yet."

"Oh hey, what about the Paris Catacombs? I've heard so much about it!" Max said. "It's like an underground tunnel that goes all through Paris, and they used it during the war here, right?" Max asked, directing the question to Oliver.

"Correct." Oliver said amazedly. "You've certainly done your research Max." He praised. Max laughed and scratched the back of his head in modesty.

"Alright I'm beat. I'm still suffering from a bit of jet-lag." Julia announced. They all nodded and went to the hotel to get some much needed rest.

"Sir, she's becoming very unstable." The scientist stated.

"Dammit! Lower the temperature back to its original state. Keep the oxygen fresh and stir the tanks. Fix the carbon dioxide filter and stop those nutrients from entering her system. It's time." He ordered. They were still conducting on that same device, unwilling to let the project fail. It had already been nine months, and they were so close to a complete success. All they needed to do was maintain a healthy environment for the newborn. Scientists everywhere were flocking around to make sure his demands were kept.

Not long after, she was born. Even though she had little hair, they could still see black strands here and there. Her sapphire orbs looked into her fathers eyes, and he smiled at his perfect child.

"She's a success. Finally, she's perfect."

She abruptly sat up, panting heavily and sweating. Mia calmed her breathing down, and looked around at her surroundings. This definitely wasn't her home back in Bern. Right, she was in Paris. Lying on the bed next to hers was Hilary, and on the next was Kaya. Mia slowly crept out of bed. The clock read five o'clock am. This was usually when she got up after all, and she opened the door out of their room. The girls had taken the room with three beds, and the rest of the boys took their own rooms, or they shared with someone else. Daryl was in the room with Tyson who Mia could hear snoring loudly from the living room. She could only imagine what Daryl was going through right now.

Not that dream again. Mia thought as she clutched her left arm. The metal that was supposed to be flesh felt hard and cold. What she would give to have her real arm and leg back. Giving out a sigh, she decided to go take a shower and get ready. She stood in the warm water, and every step she took, the metal from her right leg would make another loud noise. She stepped out after the quick shower and dried herself with the towel. After putting on blue jeans and a black halter top, Mia put her blade and launcher in her pocket and her dagger by her side. She clasped her hands together and maneuvered the fog on the mirror and changed it into a liquid once again. With that she sent it down the drain of the sink. Now she could see her reflection in the mirror perfectly. After she brushed her wet hair, she clasped her hands once again to relieve her hair of the heavy water still soaked in her tresses, not wanting to wake up the others with the sound of a noisy blow dryer. She sent that water down the drain again, and put up her hair into a pony tail with bangs caressing the side of her cheek. Mia walked out of the washroom ready to go, and put on her white trench coat and black gloves to cover her metal arm. Looking at the clock again, it read five thirty am.

"You're up early." Kai said. He was also wearing his regular apparel and was walking towards the balcony. Silently, the two walked towards the balcony and stepped out. The sun had just begun to rise, and the balcony was located right where the sun rose. It was a beautiful sight, and the colors glimmered through the morning sky. They enjoyed the moment alone with each before everyone else woke up.

Two hours passed by, and Hilary, Ray, Kenny, Max, Daryl, and Kaya had woken up. Mia and Kai walked back into their suit and sat down with everyone else for breakfast that Ray had made. Grabbing a plate with pancakes and bacon, Mia sat down on the couch in the living room. Kai sat down beside her while everyone else sat in the other couches.

"Someone should go wake Tyson up before Oliver gets here." Kenny suggested as he typed on Dizzi.

"You know better than that Chief. Tyson and early don't go in the same sentence unless it's 'Tyson is never early'." Hilary pointed out. Mia got up from the couch and put her empty plate into the sink, and then she headed into Tyson's room as everyone looked at her strangely. Fifteen seconds later, Tyson came running out in his pajamas screaming and yelling to everyone's surprise.

"WHERE IS HE! THAT JERK'S GONNA PAY!" He shouted while looking frantically around the room. They all stared at Tyson as Mia walked back into the living room calmly.

"Uhh…who are you talking about?" Max asked cocking his head to one side.

"I'M TALKING ABOUT THAT JERK WHO STOLE ALL OUR FOOD! WHO ELSE COULD I BE TALKING ABOUT!" When everyone started laughing, he turned slowly to face Mia with a wide grin on her face. "You liar." He said.

"Come on now Tyson, that's such an ugly word. I prefer to say it was…a small prank." She smiled. "Now since you're already up and everyone else is done breakfast. Why don't you clean the dishes and go get ready? You're friend Oliver should be here soon." She said.

"W-what about breakfast?"

"I'm sorry but we all ate everything before you got up. Next time if you wake up earlier, you might get some food." Mia replied.

"B-but…but…NO BREAKFAST! YOU CRAZY SADISTIC WITCH!" He yelled.

"Name calling isn't going to get the dishes done." Mia said crossing her arms. Tyson grumbled something inaudible and then lazily headed into the kitchen while scratching his stomach. As they heard the water running from the tap in the kitchen, the others came into the hotel to see the Bladebreakers. Oliver still hadn't arrived yet so they decided to visit the team.

"THERE'S AN IMPOSTER THAT LOOKS LIKE TYSON AND HE'S DOING THE DISHES! CALL THE POLICE!" Mariah and Michael both screamed in unison.

"Hah hah, very funny you two." Tyson said with sarcasm. He held a dish in his hands and he was wiping it dry with a clean cloth.

"I-is…is that really Tyson?" Mariam asked with a dumbfounded pitch. "D-doing the…DISHES?"

"It sure is. And man is it nice not having to do the dishes for once." Ray said as he stretched in his seat. "And it's all thanks to Mia." He said grinning at her. She shrugged and walked back to her seat and sat down with Kai again.

"Well at least someone is keeping you teenagers in order. Honestly, when I was a tiny little bit beast I always made sure my errands were done." Dizzi remarked.

"Hey guys! Well are you ready to go to the Cataco-GET THE POLICE! THERE'S SOMEONE WHO LOOKS JUST LIKE TYSON DOING THE DISH-"

"No that's really Tyson doing the dishes. Apparently Mia got him doing them somehow." Mystel explained to Oliver after he walked into the door. Oliver was certainly baffled, but he soon cleared his throat to regain his composure.

"Well as I was saying. We should probably get to the Catacombs before-"

"Oh no! I haven't even gotten ready OR eaten breakfast yet!" Tyson interrupted.

"Can't a guy finish a sentence around here?" Oliver complained to no one in particular as Tyson raced around the suit as he brushed his teeth. In what seemed to be one minute, Tyson was dressed and ready to go.

"If only he was this fast every morning." Dizzi sighed.

"So…hungry…need…food." Tyson whined as they walked down the streets of Paris.

"Quit your bellyaching and keep up." Hilary ordered. Tyson was at least five meters behind the rest of the group holding his stomach in pure hunger.

"It's got to be a crime…not letting someone eat their breakfast. I can't believe I was ordered to do that horrible labor by a shrimp like-"

"WHO ARE YOU CALLING A SHRIMP THE SIZE OF AN ANT! I'LL HACK OFF YOUR FEET AND STICK EM ON YOUR HEAD THE NEXT TIME YOU CALL ME SHORT!" Mia threatened evilly with a glare worse than Kai's himself.

Everyone else sweatdropped as they tried to calm the two down. Oliver, who was at the front of the group, stopped which made everyone else walk right into him.

"What's the big idea?" Lee asked a bit annoyed.

"We're here! Welcome to the Paris Catacombs!" Oliver exclaimed.

"Looks more like a broken down sewage place to me." Tyson remarked, looking at the dusty sign. And yet so many people were entering the Catacombs, so they all followed them inside. It was dark and damp inside the tunnels, and it wasn't enjoyable to the least bit. "Are you sure we're in the right place?" Tyson asked as he stared at couple kissing passionately.

"Of course. The Catacombs are a favorite place for couples like them." Oliver laughed out.

Mia and Daryl stared at one tunnel in particular. Both glanced at each other and nodded. They headed towards that tunnel. Everyone else looked at the twins and followed them.

"Wait, that's a dead end." Oliver called to the twins. They both ignored him and walked further in. They could see a passage way that lead somewhere at some point, but it was blocked off and sealed by bricks and cement. Mia and Daryl both walked forwards to examine the sealed door.

"Kaya. Do you mind?" Mia asked her pink haired friend. She nodded in return and walked to where Mia and Daryl were. She took out her dagger and Beyblade and put Oracle into the dagger. A green light surrounded her emerald dagger and resonated through the cold, dingy air of the Catacombs. All Kaya did was tap the sealed entrance with her dagger and it came collapsing to the ground in a loud roar. Mia gave a smile of appreciation to Kaya and she stepped in the entrance with Daryl right behind her. Kai soon caught up with the twins along with Kaya and the rest of the gang.

"That was awesome!" Max praised Kaya.

"Thank you. I try my hardest to keep control of my element. But I'll never be as strong as Brother and Mia." Kaya replied.

"Why do you call him 'Brother' and not his name?" Max asked. Kaya put her index finger on her bottom lip and looked up as if thinking hard.

"I don't know. I've always referred to him as that and I guess it's a habit." She said after a thought.

After walking for several minutes, they finally reached a hidden room that was obviously sealed up years ago. The formation had no luxury and looked mainly as an institute for scientific purposes. Their footsteps echoed down the barren halls of the building, and a figure stood in the shadows. As he stepped out, he had a grin on his face as if he was expecting the teens to arrive. He wore a black blazer over his dark blue shirt which was tucked into black dress pants, and his short, silver hair was neatly combed. He seemed around the age of thirty. His dark grey eyes glared at the teens with an evil allusion.

"What are you doing here?" Mia asked.

"It's been a while. Sorry I haven't informed you on any new leads as to where Draconian would be. But I've been quite busy lately." He said.

"That's Dante Yamanaki. The man who helped Mia and Kai during the incident, remember?" Kaya asked the team. They all nodded once they remembered what Mia had told them.

--Flashback—

"…we did track down the man who had saved you guys. His name was Dante Yamanaki. He knows a thing or two about the bit beasts and the daggers, and he also works for a satellite company dealing with tracking. He's given us some leads as to where Draconian might be. But we've never been able to find it." Daryl said…

--End Flashback—

"I know more than you think twins." Dante smirked, taking in the pleasure of the confused faces that were written all over the teens. "Look up."

They did. One name could be seen in a gold plaque above the main room. No one knew the significance of that name, only the surname caught them by surprise.

Evan Vialetti

"So this is it. The hellhole that made you so perfect, and me so…'unique'." Daryl said, his voice dripping with cruelty. Mia shared the same malice in her eyes and her voice.

"Father…"
