Wow, I'm back already lol. This is awesome, I'm starting to write like I used to now. Anyways, I hope you guys all enjoy this, it'll explain a lot of the foreshadowing from earlier chapters too. Anyways, I now have over 3 000 hits on my story!! AND 59 REVIEWS!! T.T grrr. Well, I think I just explained it right there. So please, enjoy this chapter...

R&R PLEASE! (C'mon, it takes like a minute. For those of you who think 'it's pointless to have reviews when you got hits' well, you're wrong. Reviews give authors feedback on how bad or good we did, and hits can even mean someone scrolling through your fic without even reading it. They don't even have to scroll through your story even, they can just happen to land on the page and then forget about it T.T)

Chapter 14: Betrayal

Kai decided that going over his thoughts again wouldn't help much. Looking up to the darkening sky, he could guess that everyone else had already eaten and were probably going to bed soon.

He jumped down from the branch of the tree he was sitting in and landed perfectly on both feet. He was currently in the park by the river, and he had proceeded up the grassy hill back to the dojo. The full moon brightened the sky just enough that he could see clearly in the dark.

His walk back wasn't very exciting at all. All he did was do exactly what he had done while sitting on that tree branch. Well, at least his head was cooled off now and he wasn't as angry, but he would still hold his suspicions about Daryl.

It didn't really make any sense after all. If they had buried his body, then how was someone able to bring it somewhere else and heal him? On that note, who was that somebody? Usually when people see a kid almost dead, they would take them to a hospital, not a house filled with books on Beyblading. And why would they just abandon the said house? If they owned the house, then they wouldn't exactly leave it unless for some insane reason that they bought a bunch of houses, each filled with their possessions, and just left them there for the sake of throwing away money in taxes and bills. And if they didn't own the house then they wouldn't have been able to gain access to it anyways. Even if they had a key or something to a house like that, the real owners would show up and wonder why the hell they had a kid lying in one of their beds with bruises and blood everywhere. None of that story made any sense whatsoever, and Kai was positive Daryl was covering up something. But what was he covering up?

And then his thoughts lingered back to the person who supposedly healed him. Why would they leave anyways? If they truly cared enough to heal someone, then they wouldn't just leave because they would have to check on his condition after he woke up. They wouldn't even know what his condition would be until they waited for Daryl to wake up. Besides, usually people would want a thank-you at least after they took their own precious time to save someone's life.

His logic towards the situation just kept offering questions that kept popping up into his head, and the more he lingered on one thought, the more questions would come to him. And he came up with one conclusion: either the person who saved Daryl was a lunatic with no brain but somehow managed to know how to save people, or Daryl was lying. Kai was willing to bet the latter more than anything at that point. But then another question came from that: why was he lying to them? What did he have to hide?

As he neared the dojo, he confirmed his earlier statements. Most of the lights were out and it was safe to assume that everyone was sleeping. Kai tried to enter with as little noise as possible, trying not to wake everyone up. He noticed one light that was still turned on, and he guessed that Kenny was pulling off another all-nighter. He passed everyone's rooms until he reached his own.

The door was still open since no one was inside, and he turned on the lights. Looking around, he saw the clock which read 11:37pm. He hadn't realized he had been gone for so long. It was nearly six hours since he left the dojo, but it seemed like only one hour to Kai. He headed over to his dresser and pulled out a pair of black shorts and a black muscle shirt for bed. He walked back outside of his room and headed for the washroom with his clothes, intending to take a shower before sleeping.

Apparently someone was already inside the washroom and Kai had to wait outside the door for them to get out. After he heard the toilet flush and running water, the door opened and Kenny walked out.

"Oh, Kai, you're back! It's about time, everyone was getting worried about you, especially Kaya, but I guess it was stupid since you pull off the disappearing act so often." He joked as he started to go back to his own room. But before Kai got into the washroom Kenny turned back. "Oh and uhh, watch out for Mia. I have a feeling she might kill you the next time she sees you."

"Jee, thanks for the endorsement." Kai said as he closed the door shut after seeing Kenny walk back into his room to get back to some much needed sleep.

As he laid his clothes on the table he had realized something. If Kenny was in his room sleeping, then who was the person in the room with the light turned on earlier? He walked towards the lit-up room, which was a few doors down from his own room. He peeked inside and saw Daryl working on their Beyblades. Kai glared at Daryl, but not wanting to cause a scene in the middle of the night, he started walking back until he heard him talking. Kai was about to grunt in reply to what he thought was Daryl catching him sneaking a peek at his work, but he was wrong. Daryl was talking to himself, not Kai. But it looked more like a chant.

Kai wasn't sure what to make of it. Daryl currently held Lohengrin and was enhancing him, apparently. He didn't understand what he was doing, but there were markings all over the room, kind of like he was summoning something. Was this the method that Daryl learned? It seemed pretty weird to Kai. Lohengrin seemed to shine with perfection after he was finished, and now he was starting to work on Dranzer. Kai didn't mind really, Dranzer was going to be stronger than ever once he got her back the next day, so he headed back to the washroom to take his shower, but the questions from before still lingered in his mind.

"Where could he be?" Mia asked herself the next morning. She was already dressed in a pair of light blue jeans and a long brown shirt with a nice, florid design in black in the midriff of her shirt. Along with her outfit, the usual white trench coat and black gloves adorned her figure. "He's not in his room, and we've already searched all around the dojo but he's no where to be found."

"Maybe he went out this morning to get us some breakfast." Tyson reasoned, but of course with food on his mind as well. "If he did, I'll love your brother forever. I'm so hungry!"

Kai walked out with Kaya to see Mia, Tyson, Max, and Ray sitting on the porch together. Hilary was probably still heading over to the dojo at the moment and he just saw Kenny in the living room working on Dizzi yet again while Hiro was analyzing some new technique they had come up with for any Beybattles coming up. Only one person was left unaccounted for and that was Daryl. No one seemed to know where he was, and he just disappeared into thin air apparently.

Once Mia saw Kai she immediately went from worried to angry, and walked off back into the dojo. Kai grunted as Kaya sat down with the others.

"Mia…" Kai started, but Mia just started walking away. Kai wasn't going to give up so easily and he started pacing after her towards the door. "Mia, why can't you just stop being so damn stubborn? Don't you think Daryl's story is a bit-"

SLAM!

The door was so close to hitting Kai in the face, but he stopped just in time so he wouldn't run into it. He grunted as he walked back to the others who were snickering at their antics.

"That went well." Ray sniggered at his sarcastic comment. Kai just grumbled as he ignored their stupid little comments.

"How the hell can someone be so damn annoying?! I didn't think it was humanly possible!" Kai grunted through clenched teeth, and his anger just rose from there.

"Well, don't you think you were a bit rough? I mean, I don't get why you've been acting so strange lately, unless you're jealous of Mia's own brother." Tyson snickered after at the thought. "Speaking of which, Daryl still hasn't come back with breakfast yet!" He whined. Now that Tyson was getting even hungrier than possible, food was all he could think about.

"How do you know he even went to get breakfast?" Max teased.

"He didn't." Kai replied coldly. He seemed to tense up at the mention of Daryl's name. "I checked out the room just now where he was working in last night. All the markings that he used for the enhancements are gone, as well as our Beyblades."

"WHAT?!" Everyone screeched in unison.

"Wait, what markings are you talking about?" Ray asked.

"The markings he used to enhance the Bit Beasts. I don't know what he did, but it looked something like a summoning ritual to me."

"That's because it was." Mia said as she came back out. Everyone looked towards her, shocked that she came back so…calm. "Hiro told me you put a tracking device on my brother. He and Kenny are tracking him down on Dizzi as we speak."

Everyone gasped at what they heard. They're eyes all turned to Kai accusingly, wondering why he would do something like that to Daryl. Kai only smirked as he looked towards Mia. Now he knew why she was so calm and not angry at him anymore.

"And let me guess. You found out that he was heading for-"

"-The new Biovolt building with our Beyblades." Mia finished off. Although by the sound of her voice, everyone could tell it was filled with hatred and hurt.

"Hey guys! Uhh…guys?" Hilary asked as she joined everyone in the backyard. She was confused as to why everyone looked like they had seen a ghost. "Something…wrong?"

"But…why would Daryl do something like that? He didn't seem like the type that would betray his own sister." Hilary asked after everyone told her what had happened. They were all sitting in the living room now, each with solemn expressions.

"That wasn't him. I've had my suspicions about it for a long time now. And now they've only been confirmed." Kai said, telling everyone his doubts on Daryl.

Kai knew that everyone's common sense was blocked right when they had seen their friend alive and well. Everyone's judgment was being blinded by a false hope that wasn't Daryl. Now everyone else knew how stupid they were to be clouded by Daryl and his false hope.

"But, if that wasn't Daryl then who was it? He fooled every single person here, he looked identical to the Daryl we know who's dead." Max asked all of a sudden. Everyone was wondering the same question.

"I'm pretty sure I know, but I want to confirm it first. I need to know if…" Mia trailed off, leaving everyone around her lingering on those words. Kai sighed once again and now he had a battle plan in his mind.

"Well, now they've got Lohengrin, Dranzer, Oracle, and Endymion. I don't know what they have planned with those Bit Beasts, but we have to get them back. We'll move in tonight since they probably won't be expecting us to be charging in there so soon. We'll surprise them by going tonight." Kai said confidently. He looked around and saw heads nodding in agreement. He didn't know if they could actually stop them, but they at least needed to know the truth.

"What about us?" Hilary asked, pointing to herself, Kenny, and Kaya.

"I think we'll need Kenny to stay here to give us back-up support if we need any. Same with Hiro. You should stay here too; it's going to be dangerous." Ray announced as he looked towards Hilary.

"And what about Kaya?" Hilary asked again, clearly annoyed that Ray thought she was too weak but didn't mention Kaya. Mia only smirked once she heard Hilary's question.

"Believe me; she can take care of herself. She's like a tiger in a kitten's clothing." Mia answered as she looked around at everyone. "Alright then. It'll be Tyson, Max, Ray, Kaya, Kai, and I that'll be going in."

Ray and Max ran around the perimeter of the building, trying to find an entrance where they could sneak in. So far there was no luck since all the entrances were either sealed shut or had trip-wire alarms. It was even tough to get past the high cement walls that surrounded the massive building, but Mia had managed to bypass all the traps and got them through safely without getting hurt. It was handy to have a metal arm and leg sometimes.

"Well, there's a vent, but I don't think any of us can fit into it unless someone was really sma…" Tyson then grinned evilly at the thought. It was at that moment that everyone turned their gaze onto Mia.

"Are you calling me small again?!" Mia protested in a hushed voice as to not alert anyone they were there, but there was no other way. The vent was the only way in, and Mia was small enough…

DAMMIT I'M NOT SMALL!!!

…to actually fit through the vent.

"FINE!" She yelled out as she pried the vent cover off and threw it at Tyson, who surprisingly caught it at the last second before it smashed into his face. She crawled into the vent and started making her way into the building.

"I'll try to find my way to a wall once I get in and I'll make a door if I have to!" Everyone sweatdropped at her remark after imagining a wall being crushed, and then seeing Mia with an evil grin on her face.

As Mia crawled deeper into the vent she cursed to herself for being able to fit into it.

"Dammit! This thing is tighter than I thought. I guess it's a good thing I'm so small, or else we would've never found a way in…" And she stopped as she realized what she had just said. "GAAHH!!!! IT'S NOT A GOOD THING IM SO SMALL!!!!!! AND I'M NOT SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

She finally found a way into a hallway and she kicked at the cover for this new vent. She was apparently on the ceiling on one of the floors, and she landed on the ground below her with ease. She looked around her and was glad to see that no one was there. She walked further down the hall and saw a window leading outside. She looked through and saw that she was now on the second floor. It wasn't too surprising since she felt herself having to crawl up at a certain point inside the vent. But now how was she going to get the others inside?

Mia pressed a button on the device that was looped around her ear. It was amazing what kind of gadgets Kenny had. It was almost like he had planned on sneaking into Biovolt…

"Hey guys, I found a window on the second floor. But I don't know how you guys can make it up."

"Really? Ok thanks Mia, just open the window and we'll come around the building to you."

She did as she was told to by Ray, but first she made sure there were no alarms on the window. Once she was satisfied, she unlatched the lock and opened the window and saw everyone coming from around the building.

"Psst!!"

"Tyson I can already see you guys you idiot!" Mia whispered back.

"H-hey! Who are you callin' an idiot?!" Tyson retorted as he pointed his index finger up to Mia.

"You're more idiotic than I thought if you didn't know that I was calling you an idiot!" Mia responded.

"Alright you two enough is enough. We need to find a way to get up to that window." Ray reasoned, and everyone knew he was right.

"If only we were all small enough to fit through that vent. I guess being a pipsqueak does come in handy someti-"

SMACK

"OWWWW!!!!" Tyson shouted as he writhed in pain from the rock that was thrown at his head.

"Shut up before someone finds us you dolt!" Kai commanded in a hushed voice while he smacked Tyson upside the head. "Mia, is there something up there that we could use to climb up with?" Kai asked as he looked around the area for anything helpful as well.

Mia looked around the hall and spotted a door that was labeled 'Storage Room'. She took a chance and opened the door. Looking inside the small room she saw a few large blankets and ripped them up so everyone could climb up it. She ran back to the window with the blanket and threw it over the edge after tying it down securely to the window pane.

"Hurry up! I think people have spotted us by now!" Mia urged as she eyed the security camera in the corner.

Tyson was the last one to climb the rope, and after he had made it up to the window ledge, Max helped him climb over the window and into the building. It was then that they heard a door open and footsteps heading towards them. Once Mia got a glance at the new stranger, her eyes narrowed into slits.

"It's you…Dante." Kaya said as she gaped at the man. He was surrounded by a dozen armed men as well.

"Let me guess. You're here to get your little pal back, huh? Well sorry but your brother's on our side now." Dante smirked as he looked at Mia while he said that last phrase.

"Wrong. I know you re-created his body using my old man's notes and took his mind from the other side of The Passage. Then you used someone else's soul to complete the new man-made human. But you couldn't have done any of that unless…" Mia trailed off there, afraid that she was right. Dante only smirked at her statements.

"Clever girl. That's right; the only way to attach a soul, mind, and body together is with the legendary Bit Beast itself. The first to ever be created in this world: Draconian."

"What…what do you mean? I don't get it." Ray said, almost to himself. None of this was making sense to anyone except for Dante and Mia at the moment.

"When someone dies, in this case my brother, they're mind and soul crosses what's called the 'The Passage' into a new land. Some call that land heaven, others call it hell, and it can even be referred to as another world. When someone crosses The Passage, they gain knowledge to everything about the world, life, everything. That is life after death.

"These bastards somehow managed to figure it out, and using my father's old notes on how to create a man-made body, they created life using the body they created, and then they crossed The Passage using Draconian and attached Daryl's mind to the body. The only way Daryl could have had the knowledge and memories of before and yet obey Biovolt's orders is if they took another soul that would listen to them and attach it to Daryl's new body. And now my brother's soul is probably floating aimlessly inside The Passage without a mind, and the pour soul that was trapped inside the new Daryl's body now has a body and mind, but no soul. Now they're just a lifeless doll that just happens to know how to breathe and blink.

"But none of that is possible unless they have Draconian's power to cross The Passage as well as attach a body, mind, and soul together." Mia finished off. Now it all made sense…

"No…it can't be…" Kaya said, stunned as was everyone else.

"You're more genius than I thought you were. It took Voltaire and I ages to come up with the plan. Very well done. Yes, it is in fact true. And I believe you met the person whom we took the soul from. Tasha. She was Boris' niece you see."

"Of course. The only way Daryl would be able to know how to enhance a Bit Beast's power is if he actually crossed The Passage, because that is one of the secrets to the world. There was no way he could've learned something like that from a mere book. It's not possible. There would be no other way, and I found that strange but I was too blind to raise any doubts about my brother. But now I see the truth. You were right Kai. I'm sorry." Mia said as she faced Kai with a guilty expression.

"You people are sick. As much as I hated Tasha you had no right to do that!" Kai shouted at Dante. "You were toying with people's lives!"

"But it worked." Another voice came this time. That voice seemed all too familiar though. "Hello, my dear grandson."
