Chapter 2: Origin Story Part 1
A few weeks prior …
"What the hell are you dragging me to dad's office for? I've got classes tomorrow."
"You are 21 and with father in a coma with whoever attacked him still on the loose, it is unfortunately time."
"For what? I still have a year before I graduate and you don't really need me to help with the company."
"It is not about the company."
With that said, Sesshomaru led his younger brother to the penthouse, and living quarters to President Taisho. No one gave them any trouble, everyone knew who Sesshomaru was and weren't going to question his guest. Besides that, the younger brother had such a striking resemblance to his father, especially with the family's odd style of long black hair. Looking around the penthouse, everything was pristine and meant to impress.
"Sooo, dad's place."
"Come here." Following him into a back room, Inuyasha saw one of his father's favorite collections – antique weapons. "Nice, I don't think I've seen the collection since starting college. He added a few things."
"Indeed." Walking to the farthest back corner, Sesshomaru found what he was looking for, a thin rusty blade. He handed it to Inuyasha.
"When did this get added? Geez, I hope he didn't pay more than a couple yen for this thing."
His question was ignored. "How much were you paying attention when father spoke of our family's history in the feudal era?"
"Huh? Err some. I remember him joking that our family comes from a line of inuyoukai. His nuisance sense of humor is why I get funny looks for my name."
"That makes this simple then. He spoke true, we are inuyoukai. Or specifically, you are half. Izayoi is human."
"I'd laugh at your attempt at a joke, but it was pitiful. You don't have a sense of humor Sessh." Sesshomaru didn't respond, he merely took another blade off the wall, a pretty average looking sword. Huh, did it just glow?
"Watch closely and then repeat using the blade you're holding." Sesshomaru ran his fingers along the sharp edge. But he wasn't merely feeling the edge, he was applying pressure, enough to draw blood. His hand continued down, smearing it along the flat edge. The blade really glowed then. Then it wasn't just the blade, but Sesshomaru himself that started glowing. Soon, the one that stood there vaguely resembled a human, but he had long silver hair, gold eyes, some fluffy thing on his shoulder, and … claws? "Now do the same little brother."
"Wait, how'd you do that!? Is there some projector in here? Or, wait where'd the blood on the blade go?"
"I detest repeating myself. Use your blade to draw your blood."
Sesshomaru really wasn't one for tricks, and to pull one so close to their father's accident? Inuyasha stared at the blade intently. "I'm not gonna get tetanus, am I?" No response. "Fine." Slowly Inuyasha pressed the blade to his hand and applied pressure, swiping it quickly to make a cut. A small amount of blood began flowing from his hand which he wiped on the blade like his brother. The blade began to glow, and grow, until it fell to the floor with a thunk. "The hell?"
"Good. I was not certain how well it would work with you only being a half breed."
"Half breed? Sesshomaru what is going on and you better start making sense or I'll whack you with this club of a sword."
"It is as I said before, why don't you look in a mirror?"
Grumbling, and fed up with Sesshomaru's lack of explanations, he put down the ridiculously heavy blade and wandered to the bathroom, his brother following behind still looking weird even outside that room. What? He saw his refection, but it couldn't be his reflection. He looked like his brother now did complete with silver hair, gold eyes, … claws, and "SESSHOMARU!"
"I'm right next to you."
"WHY DO I HAVE DOG EARS?!"
