"Lumos." James muttered and a light flared at the end of his wand. he shone the light at the map, trying to find the dot labelled "Lily Evans." When he found her, he smiled. she was alone in the common room.

James slipped out of bed and grabbed the Invisibility Cloak, just in case. Then he tip toed out of the dormitory and into the common room.

And there she was. Her long, red hair was loose around her shoulders and she was writing what appeared to be an essay.

"Lily." He said quietly. Her head whipped up, surprised. Then her face broke into a grin.

"James. You scared me." Lily said as he sat in the chair next to hers.

"I want to show you something. Come on." He murmured. She raised her eyebrows.

"Now? It's almost the middle of the night." She asked. He nodded.

"That's exactly the point." He said, standing up again.

"But what if we get caught?" Lily asked in a whisper as she stood up too.

"Trust me. We won't." James said reassuringly. Hse bit her lip.

"Well, okay. But just this once." She agreed and together they made their way out of the portrait hole. They crept through the silent halls, pausing every once and a while for James to check the so called "Marauders Map."

Soon, they found themselves in front of a tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy. James walked back and forth in front of the wall on the other side of the corridor until a door appeared.

Lily gasped. "What is this place?" He grinned.

"It's the Room of Requirement. Come on." He said, opening the door for her to go first.

When they were both inside, the door closed with a snap and the lights flickered on.

There were balloons everywhere and a small pile of presents rested on the floor beside a table set for two. A large banner across one wall said "Happy Birthday, Lily."

Lily stopped dead and did not move at all. James checked his watch, then looked back up at her. "Your birthday started two minutes ago." He said quietly.

"Oh, James! It's perfect! Thank you!" Lily exclaimed and she threw her arms around him. "It's great."

"It's your day today. It's going to be perfect."
