Welcome back to Chapter Two of "Torn." First of all thanks to everyone who added this story to their alerts, favorites or reviewed. Special Thanks to mardie186 and boriqua522 for reviewing. This chapter is told from Kurt's perspective, and is hopefully a bit of plot filler for between the meeting with the principal and SOWK. Like the story? Hate the story? Want something specific? I do not own Glee, or any brand related anything I might mention.
After his meeting with the principal, Karofsky and his dad, Kurt was feeling a little bewildered. Something was going on with Santana and Karofsky that Karofsky wasn't telling him, he just couldn't figure out what. He didn't think Santana wanted him back at McKinley so Karofsky could keep bullying him or anything silly like that, but something was going on between the new couple. Everything was happening so sudden – he and Blaine met with the Glee girls and Santana had rushed off so suddenly after Blaine said he'd be okay with Kurt returning if Karofsky wasn't a threat anymore, and bam, barely 36 hours passed before apparently Karofsky wasn't going to be a threat anymore.
Kurt wanted to return to McKinley. Yes, he was head over heels about Blaine and the thought of not seeing him daily made his heart ache…but, he missed everything about the New Directions, down to the ever running cycle of make up break up drama. Also, now that Karofsky wasn't going to bully him anymore, and might actually help Kurt make the campus better for gay kids, Kurt really wanted to finish what he started. After the meeting with everyone he and his dad had talked for a long time. Kurt kept Karofsky's secret, but was otherwise very honest with his dad. Burt had known, however, just as soon as Kurt flashed him that smile through the principal's office window that Kurt would be returning to McKinley…and it was a rare occurrence when Kurt didn't get what he wanted.
Kurt and Blaine met for coffee later that evening at the Lima Bean. Blaine was waiting at the entrance to the coffee shop, looking more anxious than Kurt had ever seen him. They had been texting all afternoon and Blaine knew that Kurt had made up his mind about returning to McKinley, but this was the first time they'd get to speak to one another about it. He hopped out of his car and strode over to Blaine, hugging him tightly. There was a lot each of them needed to say in that hug.
They held each other for a long moment before Blaine kissed him lightly on the lips. "Hi…"
"Hi," Kurt said, slightly breathless. He was still getting used to warm, wonderful Blaine kisses. Blaine took his hand and they went into the shop. They ordered their usual and sat down at a quiet table in the back of the café.
Kurt told Blaine what happened during the meeting, including the Santana prom king and queen scheme. Blaine rolled his eyes, "I knew something was up with her."
"…and so, if everything goes smoothly my transfer should be finalized by noon on Thursday." Kurt said, finishing his story.
Blaine was stroking Kurt's hand lightly across the table, "I know this is what you really want, and I support you…but I'm still concerned about Karofsky. Do you think this new leaf will last? What if they don't win for prom court? What's to keep all this going?"
Kurt had been thinking about that too. "You sound like my dad. I'm not sure that everything, him being in BullyWhips and PFLAG and being not a jerk will stick, but I don't think he'll mess with me anymore."
Blaine didn't look convinced, "I just don't see how someone could turn around like that so quickly. He's so angry. I know he's struggling and everything, but I don't like that you have to go out of your way for him."
"We're not friends. I don't think we're ever really going to be friends, but who else does he have? There's so much he's afraid of, so much risk for him…" Kurt sounded like he was convincing himself as much as Blaine.
Blaine pursed his lips, "He threatened to kill you. He kissed you by force. I just don't trust him."
Kurt sighed, he felt similarly, but he didn't like his dad and Blaine worrying about him all the time. He had to take care of himself. How was he going to convince Blaine he had to do this? For himself and Karofsky.
"Blaine, sweetheart, I have to do this. Karofsky isn't going to do anything, but I promise, I'll tell Finn and you and my dad if anybody messes with me at all. This is my chance to make my school better, cause by Gaga there is no way in hell Karofsky and I are the only gay people there."
"I'm really proud of you, you know? I'm going to miss you like hell, but I know this is for the best. Its just, If it weren't for damn Karofsky and those other Neanderthals…" Blaine said, spitting out the word Neanderthals like it was a swearword.
Kurt looked Blaine in the eye, "He's Malfoy."
Blaine looked nonplussed, "What?"
Kurt could not believe he was making a Harry Potter reference, but it might be the only way to get through to Blaine. "Karofsky, Karofsky is like Malfoy. Yeah he'll never win any awards for being Mr. Nice and he has some seriously screwed up thinking, but in the end he's just motivated by fear. Harry and everybody end up helping him though right, and Malfoy and his mom come through for them in the end?"
Blaine stared at him for several minutes before his expression cleared. He smiled. Bingo, thought Kurt.
He sighed, "You're right, you're right, duh. That makes sense, and I'm impressed you paid that much attention to my Potter-rants."
Kurt smiled and leaned forward, "I'm a good boyfriend."
Blaine closed the gap, "yes, yes you are." They kissed.
They continued drinking their coffee and chatted happily about the latest issue of Vogue. Eventually however it became almost time for Kurt and Blaine to say goodnight. Blaine's expression suddenly clouded again.
"What is it?" Kurt asked, concerned.
"I don't want to get in a fight."
Oh no, that wasn't good.
"What? Tell me?" Kurt demanded, startled.
"Well, you said you and Karofsky were going to start a PFLAG club right?" Blaine asked, hesitantly.
Kurt nodded, what was Blaine worried Kurt and Karofsky were going to spend too much time together?
"It's going to be open to…everybody, right?" Kurt looked at Blaine, confused.
"Well yeah, I mean since I'm the only one who is out and it includes parents of friends it'll be open to straight people too…" Kurt drifted off lamely, looking at Blaine like he had suddenly grown a second head.
"Good…but I meant, it'll be open to bisexual people, right?" Blaine said, almost wincing.
Kurt flashed back to the only almost fight he and Blaine had ever had.
Oh. Kurt frowned when he remembered what he said to Blaine about bisexual people.
"Yes, yes of course. Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning…whatever, it'll be open to anybody."
Blaine let out a breath, obviously relieved Kurt wasn't upset with him. "Oh, good, good."
They stood up from the table. "I'm really sorry about what I said when the whole Rachel and you thing was going on. I was just really jealous, and I don't know anyone who's bisexual and I just…I was just repeating what I had heard about them." Just like a lot of people when they say anti-gay stuff, he thought.
Blaine flashed him his mega-watt Blaine smile, "It happens, and the Rachel thing was pretty ridiculous. Man was I a moron. I don't know why you didn't just drop me right then."
Kurt took Blaine's hand in his, "probably because you're just too wonderful to let go, even when you're being weird."
Kurt kissed Blaine goodbye after Blaine walked him to the car. Unlike their earlier kiss, this kiss could not be described as light. Am I sure I can leave kisses like that to only nights and weekends? Kurt thought. Blaine kissed him one last time on the cheek and then walked off to his own car.
Kurt shook his head and sighed, he had to go to McKinley.
Next chapter, if there is one, will not take place until after Rumors and probably not until after Prom. Apparently Dave wont be in "Rumors," but if there is any Kurtofsky (friendship) development mentioned I'll do my best to keep it canon. Depending on how prom goes there will be a lot of pre-prom stuff to write about from both Kurt and Dave's perspective.
R&R please!
