The tear in reality caused a temporal fracture, splitting the existing timeline into at least two distinct and separate time lines. Kakashi nodded and said, "That's a good idea. Now, in the mean time, you two rest up, because there may be a preliminary at the end of this stage." With that, he used shunshin to disappear.
