The Thing About Girls-Chapter 1

Summary: Emmett doesn't date; he's a one-nighter. But when the new girl turns out wanting nothing to do with him, he finds himself under a spell. Her's. Hilarity, pranks, powder, & cars in the future...

"That new chick is smoking!" Tyler declared. "Like...Britney Spears hot!"

I rolled my eyes and slammed my Ford's crappy hood. "Please."

Strolling around the truck, I brushed the grease off my hands. "She's okay."

All four of them looked at me incredulously.

"I smell denial..." Mike teased.

I frowned. "Over your dead body. I'm not a blonde person anyway."

He continued talking, ignoring my statement. "What did they say her name was again?"

"Rosa or Rosie or something. But she is hermosa. Muy, muy hermosa," Mike googled.

"But her bro...I wouldn't mess with him myself..." Edward cautioned.

I snorted.

Eric frowned. "What got your panties in a twist? Sheesh..."

"Dude, shut up." I kicked his leg.

They sniggered.

Mike spoke up. "I'll tell you what-get Rosie to go on a date with you, and we'll shut up. 'K?"

I raised my eyebrows. "No f-"

"And we'll never talk about your 'Way of Life' ever again," Edward piped in, sticking out his hand. "Deal?"

I sighed. This was happening every other week now; dare, date, dump. Over and over again.

I slapped his hand, briskly shaking it. "Deal."

The next day, I pulled into the student parking lot.

Spotting the Rosie chick, I parked alongside her.

She didn't pay me any attention. Me-the senior football jock that every girl fell head over heels for.

As I climbed out of my Ford truck, I cleared my throat. "Hey, R-"

She glared at me. "Shut up now and no one will get hurt," she declared, turning back to her iPod.

I was speechless, but quickly gained my grip. "Uh...uh...Rose, I just-"

"I said shut up," she repeated. "I'm not interested. At all. So why don't you just go along with your jerk friends and find your next victim, 'k?" she said in a sugary sweet voice. That was dangerous.

Rose stuck her earphones in and her iPod went into her jacket pocket. She started toward the schools doors.

I panicked. And desperate men do desperate things.

I ran to catch up with her. "Uh, Rose, um...I was just wanting to know if I could borrow a couple pencils, ya know. I'm running low, and Mr. Berty got on my case yesterday..." I trailed off, realizing she was ignoring me. This was going to be harder than I thought.

The first bell rang, which forced me to pause my progress with Rose. If you could call it that.

Well, I've got all year...

Blossoming ideas galore right now... Thx for your time. Likey?
